A family “conspiracy“ which includes boyfriend DCI Nathan Withers signs Jodie “Nosey“ Parker up for the Best of British Baking Roadshow, Jodie is going to be on TV!! It’s a show that has become a British institution which travels around each county choosing the five best bakers which is whittled down to one that will compete in the National final. The judges obviously aren’t Mary/Prue or old blue eyes (yes okay less of the old, sorry Paul!) but legends Pete Banks and Esme Davies and hosted by comedian Russell Lang or more accurately his alter ego Barbara Strident. What’s going on with Russell/Barbara ? He/she is not a happy bun, bun. Jodie is of course being nosey and then of course, there’s a murder. Obviously, gorgeous Nathan investigates with a smidgen or more of help from Jodie, again, obviously.

I do like these characters very much and by now they feel familiar old friends. Mum Shirley still makes me titter although it has to be said a lot of the dialogue is very cheesy! The bake off, take off element is really good with colourful descriptions of the hosts, the crew, the competitors and lots of cake that makes you salivate! Jodie bakes and chews over what she knows or thinks she knows! There’s quite a bit of baking then a lot of sloping off to investigate. It’s a wonder she finishes her showstopper.

This is an entertaining easy read with plenty of twists and a dash or two of humour. It’s a fun lighthearted cosy mystery set in a beautiful county.

'A Cornish Recipe for Murder' by Fiona Leitch is a wonderful cozy mystery and is that is the fifth book in the delightful Nosy Parker Mysteries series. Former detective Jodie 'Nosey Parker, accompanied with her daughter Daisy and irrepressible mother Shirley is assisting the local police to investigate a murder that has occurred at a local stage of ‘The Best of British Baking Roadshow’
The roadshow is a clear reference to the Great British Bakeoff and having such an event in the book provides much entertainment and fun for the reader. There are plenty of baking references and honestly, reading this book made me so hungry - I had to go and buy some donuts to eat for the final chapters!
Plenty of fun and laughter in a light-hearted read.

I received an ARC of, A Cornish Recipe for Murder, by Fiona Leitch. I really like Josie "Nosey" Parker, she is a great character and mystery solver. Josie is representing Cornwall in a cooking competition, will she win?

This is the perfect book for a summer’s day to read out on my deck with a cup of tea. The storyline was especially entertaining because of the baking show and the characters are delightful. The plot was good and kept me guessing right till the end. This is the second book I have read by Fiona Leitch and I have gone out of order in the series and I am going to go back and read the rest of the series.

I loved this book. Cozy writing at it’s absolute best. I didn’t realise the author had written other stuff so I will most definitely buy the other books. So well written and easy to read.

I’ve read this entire series and enjoyed every one! The writing is so good and the characters are vivid and fun to be with, especially Jodie’s family. They all are such good hearted people! I enjoyed the behind the scenes of a Great British Bake inspired show and the mystery was solid. This series has a little more British cheekiness than I normally do, but it’s not vulgar and is in good spirit, so it has never felt like more than I can handle. I was worried about the drag queen show host but it was a nuanced character and handled in an interesting way. All in all, another win from Fiona Leitch. This series is an auto-buy for me and is one of my favorite cozy series.

Brilliant book
I love reading more about Jodie’s exploits and a nosey Parker alongside Nathan the hot policeman. This time the baking competition added more fun and frolics to it.
Nice to see their relationship hotting up too.

What a wild ride of a read, with the usual hilarity and twists and turns I've loved throughout this series. Fast paced, hilarious, and clever. An absolute must read.

Another great read by Fiona Leitch! This cozy mystery story was just as good as the others in the series. I really enjoyed the characters and the story.

If , like me, you've never read any of the series before don't let that put you off. This can easily be read as a standalone book. That said, it’s suffice to say that I will now be reading the rest of the books in this mystery series though because I absolutely loved this one! It was a wonderful story filled with engaging characters, a TV baking contest and a MURDER - you don’t get that in the bake off do you :-)

I absolutely loved this book, clever mystery, wonderful engaging characters and dollops of humour. I have read all of this series and they just get better. Looking forward to the next in the series with the two new developments. Oh how I wish the author could write a book a month.

In the fifth book in the Jodie 'Nosey' Parker series Jodie is taking part in a baking competition when a member of the film crew is found dead. It's obviously murder and Jodie can't stop herself from investigating, luckily her boyfriend is the police officer in charge of the case.

Fiona Leitch has tapped into a number of popular trends in the fifth book in the Nosey Parker series. Alongside the cozy murder mystery we have a TV baking competition and drag queens, amazingly these all work together to give a fun read with quite a few red herrings along the way.

The relationship between Jodie and her boyfriend, DCI Nathan Withers, continues to develop. The interaction between these characters is very lighthearted. Since the majority of the events take place within the confines of the filmed baking competition there is less opportunity for some of the usual supporting characters to appear. While we do get snippets from her mother, Shirley, and her daughter, Daisy, their reduced interactions with Jodie could result in the story losing some of the humor we would expect in this series. Thankfully we are saved by the drag queen character Barbara Strident. Barbara is the comic host of the baking competition and really lives up to her name with a stream of funny quips to camera.

Fans of the series will know what to expect (and won't be let down by this latest addition to the series). If you've never read any of the series before don't let that put you off. This can easily be read as a standalone but I'm sure once you've finished it you'll be hunting down the earlier books in the series.

This is a lighthearted read, with enough twists to keep you hooked and guessing right to the end. Just what any reader would want from a cozy murder mystery.

The fifth in a series of cosy mysteries featuring Jodie Parker (Nosey). Our protagonist has recently left the Metropolitan Police and returned to her Cornish hometown, along with daughter Daisy, and an ambition of starting a catering company. Unbeknown to her, life will be nothing like the relaxing and quietly content picture she envisioned. Jodie has now been press ganged into competing in a country wide televised bake off competition - the competition is in full swing and it’s a given that it will be unlikely to go without a hitch. Sure enough a body is soon discovered and Jodie’s sleuthing instincts kick in. Enjoyable fun read with a likeable protagonist and a colourful cast of supporting characters. A fitting addition to this enjoyable and entertaining series.

Another murder for ex-cop Natalie and her partner Nathan to solve, this time set against the backdrop of filming a local series of Bake-off. This is part of a series but could easily be read as a stand alone novel. Jodie’s family are developing as characters and provide opportunities for humorous anecdotes. I don’t watch Bake-off but fans of the show will appreciate this aspect of the book. I am eagerly awaiting the next volume in this series.

A Cornish Recipe for Murder has the perfect ingredients for a cosy mystery! Fiona Leitch is a talented writer who presents an interesting plot with ease. The book is easy to follow with a dash of suspense, family dynamics and meaningful interactions. I was hooked right from the start, and the balance between the competition and the murder mystery was beautifully executed. Jodie might be one of my favourite characters! Her interactions with her boyfriend, mum and daughter are delightful, heartfelt, and hilarious.

For avid baking fans and the British Bake Off show, you will not be disappointed! Now, I set my eyes on the first four books. A 5-star read!

I have to say that this is the first book in this lovely series that I have read, but I was easily able to follow along, and enjoyed it so much that I intend to read the first four books as well.

Jodie and Nathan are a great team solving the murder/mystery in this delightful and entertaining cozy mystery. I had such fun following along with them as they worked through the case.

Plenty of suspects, twists, turns, and a great ending. Looking forward to reading the first four books now.
