As these two women experience the darkest sides of the sex trade, their experiences, a decade apart, shine a spotlight on how insidious it has become. No one is completely safe and no one is above the law. Sarah Sultoon has chosen just two examples to provide the heart of this dark subject. There is so much more and too few law enforcement officers to close down this blight on civilization.

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

This book deals with a topic that might be a sensitive matter to some readers, and I personally did not care for the subject matter. The book itself however was well written and thrilling throughout.

This was not at ail what I was expecting, but one that definitely blew me away! One word description would be, WOW! It’s a quite dark, brutal read, but was written in a beautiful way, which really tugged in emotional ways! I would mor recommend to those whom have triggers, so before you grab endure it’s not one of yours, but for those like me, with no triggers I definitely recommend highly! Prepare your soul, as it might just crush it!

1996, Carly a student and practically a full time carer of her baby sister while their mother is sleeping off another binge. When Carly's brother invites Carly to the Army Base for parties and brings home food and items, life for Carly seems to be a bit more fun..

2006, Marie a Junior journalist, has made her big break by exposing a gang of sex traffickers. However, when the Operation Andromeda Investigation opens up again, Marie gets asked to work on it. Can Marie work on this case, where allegedly sexual abuse happened on an Army Base a few years ago?

I love how the two characters stories interwine with each other through the research about sex trafficking and "the source" Marie uses for the open case of the Andromeda.

I found this book was very preservative of the sex trafficking side of things, it spoke about it but it didn't go into details. Which would make it a perfect book for those who would like to read a lighter read of a dark subject matter.

However because it was more alongside the journalism and legal system aspect. For me with this approach, I didn't really feel much towards any of the characters, but overall I still think it was a good book.

Thank you Netgalley and Orenda Books for approving my request to read and review this book.

This novel takes place during two different time lines, 1996 and 2006.

In 1996 we meet Carly, living on a military base, dealing with a drunk mother, trying to care for her baby sister. Carly also has a brother who bribes her with goodies and tells her he is going to take her to "army parties"

In 2006 we meet Marie. Marie, an eager journalist who is trying to expose sex traffickers but little to her surprise they are reopening an old cold case and proceeding with an investigation on sex abuse at an army base.

This is a story that will have you crying, literally, crying. My angst for this young girl and the situation she was put in just literally pulled at my heartstrings . Marie's fight for justice had you fighting along side her.

This is a dark story but one of survival. You do not want to miss this, it was absolutely amazing!
