Apologies for the late review. I thoroughly enjoyed this story! I found it could be a bit long winded at times, but a lovely, heartfelt, tale of serendipity. Lovely characters and happy/feel good vibes throughout. Lara was a lovely lady, I’m glad she eventually got her happy ever after despite the universe not working in her favour! Elisa too was a fun character and I enjoyed her antics in New York! Ben’s character could’ve gone either way, but I was glad he and Lara were meant to be. I wish I could’ve read this poolside during the summer!

A wonderful feel good, summery read with lots of love and laughter.

A book with secrets and hope.

I laughed and cried and didn't want it to end.

Another belter of a story that just needs to be read.

Highly recommended 5 stars from me.

This was another feel good read by Lucy Diamond. I've read quite a few of her books and always enjoy them.
This was a fabulous 'second chance' romance that was super easy to read and I devoured it in a day.
A perfect rom com in my opinion, I loved all the characters especially Eliza and the ending although predictable was just right!

Lucy Diamond is a new author to me, so I didn't know quite what to expect. I liked the synopsis and the title intrigued me. I found it a very enjoyable story about missed chances, what ifs and the unexpected!

I thought it was well written, good chemistry throughout. The characters, especially Eliza, Lara and Ben, were very likeable and well rounded. At times I did find it a bit slow paced and repetitive and found myself skimming some pages. I enjoyed the ending and how it all came together. It was a sometimes funny, sometimes regretful (for the characters) and enjoyable read. Will be looking out for other books by Lucy Diamond.

The synopsis...
'For Lara and her daughter Eliza, it has always been just the two of them. But when Eliza turns eighteen and wants to connect with her father, Lara is forced to admit a secret that she has been keeping from her daughter her whole life.

Eliza needs answers - and so does Lara. Their journey to the truth will take them on a road trip across England and eventually to New York, where it all began. Dreams might have been broken and opportunities missed, but there are still surprises in store...'

This sums it up very well...
' Anything Could Happen is a warm, wise, funny and uplifting novel about love, second chances and the unexpected and extraordinary paths life can take us down.'

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an Arc in exchange for an honest review

Glorious romance book by a fabulous author! The story travels between Scarborough, where Lara and Eliza live and Cambridge, when Ben is. It also takes in New York again, where some facts from when Lara & Ben were first there come to the surface. I have to say that I was never quite sure where the story was heading or how it was going to end but I was enjoying the book so happen to carry on reading and find out! Did it turn out how you would like it to? I'm not going to spoil it for you....you'll just have to read it yourself to find out!! I'm sure you won't be disappointed! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another triumph for Lucy Diamond! This one was a lovely read that made me escape the cold January nights. Funny and relatable, Anything Could Happen needs to be added to your TBR pile!

I requested to read 'Anything Could Happen' because I am a big fan of Lucy Diamond's books. Sadly, this one was a disappointment. Peppered with lots of pages of in-depth back story and flash backs, I skimmed quite a lot of it to get to the more interesting parts. It was slow moving and became repetitive which made it hard for me to stay engaged.

The characters were well-developed and, mostly, likeable. It was an easy, straightforward and quick read but nothing ground-breaking.

Although this book is my usual genre, I could not get into it. It seemed to jump about storyline too much for me. However I am going to start reading it again as I think if I keep going at it, I will really enjoy it. The description of the story sounded exactly like the kind of story I love

Lara meets Ben again, 20 years after she last saw him, and it is to break the news that Eliza is his daughter.

Told from multiple points of view, but easy to keep up with what is going on.

Ben's marriage is falling apart, and Eliza is trying to matchmaker and get her parents together, but what will happen?

It's very refreshing to read a novel that shows that love stories do not begin and end in your twenties. Lucy Diamond has a breezy, engaging style which makes her characters leap off the page. Life rarely moves in straight lines but you will be rooting for Lara by the end of this warm, romantic story

The novel begins in harmony "all those years ago" with Lara and the mysterious "He" enjoying the morning after the night before. It makes us wonder where the story will go if we are starting off with perfect. However the final paragraph of the prologue foreshadows despair: "of course, if she'd known then what was to happen later, she wouldn't have let him out the door at all..."
Frantically turning the page, to find out what catastrophe has happened, we find ourselves years later at the start of our story. Lara and her daughter Eliza share an incredible bond. It had been the two of them against the world. As Eliza turns 18, she wants to know about her illusive father. Lara has kept a secret buried for so long and the revelation takes the pair on a road trip across England to the United States. Another hit novel from Lucy Diamond, full of love, laughter, tears and second chances. #anythingcouldhappen #Lucy diamond #Netgalley

‘Anything Could Happen’ is the latest book by Lucy Diamond.

For Lara and her daughter Eliza, it has always been just the two of them. But when Eliza turns eighteen and wants to connect with her father, Lara is forced to admit a secret that she has been keeping from her daughter her whole life.

Eliza needs answers – and so does Lara. Their journey to the truth will take them on a road trip across England and eventually to New York, where it all began. Dreams might have been broken and opportunities missed, but there are still surprises in store…

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by Lucy, so it was lovely to kick off my first review of 2022 of new book.

The story is written through the perspectives of mother and daughter, Lara and Eliza and unknown father Ben and his equally surprised wife, Kirsten. Eliza has always wondered about her father and why he wasn’t part of her life and her journey leads her to Ben, who had a one night stand with Lara but if fate had not intervened, the three might have been a family unit instead of strangers. As the trio try to deal with this discovery, Kirsten who has always wanted children has to deal with becoming an outsider and puts her own needs first for a change.

I loved this story, its warm, lively with interesting and relatable characters that I was immediately able to sink into and enjoy.

The story is primarily written in the present moment, but there are scenes of Ben and Lara’s first meeting against the bright lights and vibrancy of New York. It’s evident that there is an attraction to each other with plans to meet up again only for it never to happen. As the story progresses, neither of their lives have turned out how they expected. Instead of being a fashion writer, Lara is a driving instructor and Ben is looking at maps of the world instead of travelling it. Their daughter Eliza is a brilliant character, full of spirit with a quick tongue and longs to have her parents together.

The story is one of adjustment and finding your path in life, whether it’s becoming a parent to a 19 year old, changing careers or simply putting your needs before others and I loved this about the book.

A stunning story filled with hope, new family and new beginnings, ‘Anything Could Happen’ is a beautifully written story that flowed at a lovely pace that was a joy to read.

You can buy ‘Anything Could Happen’ from Amazon and is available to buy from good bookshops.

A Wonderfully delicious read, it's a cover to end read. You start and don't stop I loved this. Eliza really grabbed my attention with her inner dialogue and aspirations.

Lucy Diamond really intrigued with the prologue of perfection and setting the reader up to feel star eyed and dreamy before realising this was the start of am epic adventure where truly anything could happen.

A brilliant 5 star read!

I love Lucy Diamond's books and this book has everything I love about her writing. Warm, funny, relatable. Characters that are engaging and a wonderful sense of hope.

Lara and her daughter Eliza have always relied only on each another. But as Eliza turns 18, she makes a shocking discovery.

19 years ago, Lara met Ben in New York. One magical night was all they had. Even though they both felt they'd met the one that night. So why didn't they meet again?

A series of misunderstandings, lost messages and hurt feelings.

But Lara and Ben are fated to meet again.

And will Eliza get the happy family she longs for?

This was my last read of 2021 and was quite a nice one to end on. It's easy and fun but not massively exciting post the big reunion.

I did really like the character development of Eliza and Lara, but for me it somewhat fell flat for Kirsten and Ben, I would have liked to delve deeper.

Most particularly I loved reading about Lara's character growth, it reminded me that we're not always who we've become or have to change with age or children. Really loved her heading down a path of self-discovery and remembering what she loved about herself, similar to Kirsten foraging a new path.

It ended in true rom com happy ending style but in a way I was glad as thats exactly what I wanted. Although as it headed exactly where I thought it would, there were no real surprises and I kinda wanted to read about Eliza's reaction upon finding out.

That said it is a really nice story about growing up, lost opportunities and new chances for everyone.

This one just wasn’t for me. I didn’t hate it but it didn’t grab me either. It’s a quick read but it’s not my favourite by Lucy Diamond. Hasn’t put me off her as an author but I’d probably grab a different title first.
