What a great book! Kept me gripped from the start. It has a little bit of everything - the magic of New York, secrets, relationships, heartache and happiness..
Lara has been keeping a secret from her daughter Eliza. But when Eliza finds out the truth it leads to a road trip and opening up a whole can of worms, bumps to the head, laughter and changes in relationships.
It is definitely worth a read, especially when the nights are dark and cold. It will warm you up and make you smile :)

A lovely story with a somewhat predictable ending but enjoyable none the less. Also leaving the story open for a what happens next...

I couldn't put this book down. It was warm, engaging and a lovely story all round. This book is a joy to escape into.

A sweet, easy read that didn't blow me away but it did keep me company for an evening and sometimes that's enough. The daughter in this, Eliza, really wound me up at times. Mainly because she's so impulsive and forgets to consider other people. Lara and the man who turns out to be Eliza's father weren't particularly full of depth, but it was enjoyable to see how they all connected. Plus I'll always happily go along with some miscommunication and figuring out mistakes of the past!

I did enjoy this book I swopped between reading and audio, the characters were likeable but quite a bit of “misunderstanding” which you expect some bit not loads.

This very written story had me in its grip from the very first page. Likeable characters and everything was very well described. Plenty of twists and turns, this is well worth 5 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this e ARC

An enjoyable, easy read from Lucy Diamond. From New York to Scarborough a family drama about what ifs and missed opportunities. The characters are likeable and well rounded. The ending is never really in doubt although the story does take some twists and turns on the way.

This is it, true love. This is what is feels like to fall head over heels for someone…

Or so Lara thought. After an incredible chance encounter with a man in New York, Lara’s world was irrevocably changed. But what started as a dream come true quickly flipped upside down when Lara was stood up only to later discover that she was pregnant.

Nineteen years later, Lara’s teenage daughter demands answers and Lara is forced to confide in her after all these years. Feisty and headstrong, Eliza drags her mother back into the past when she tracks down her long-lost father and inspires thoughts of everything that could have been. A story about a second chance romance that spans across continents, this book is full of love, heartbreak and hopeful new beginnings.

I enjoyed this book! I thought it was easy to read and relatively fast paced for a contemporary book. I don’t read many books from this genre but I like the way Lucy Diamond writes characters. They always feel like real people to me, complete with faults and imperfect lives that are unpredictable and genuine.

Although the beginning of the book was a little confusing with the POVs being drastically different, it didn’t take me long to catch onto things. It was interesting reading the story from the perspective of 3 adults and one teenager, although I think I preferred the adult perspectives. At times, I found the teenager perspective to be a little annoying because of her immaturity and slight obsession with horoscopes. However, I warmed up to her in the end because I could see how she’d developed as a person throughout the span of the book, becoming less of an irritating teenager and more of a strong, independent woman.

I also liked reading about the various family dynamics – the relationship between Lara and her single mother, Ben and his large, noisy family and the combination of both when they got together. The chapters with Lara and her best friend were also fun and I wish there could have been more of them! I thought the support from friends in this book was heartwarming and really added to the story.

Last but not least, the romance was sweet, if a little frustrating at times. I’m not a big fan of the whole lack of communication being the cause of plot moving forward, but I was still satisfied by the ending. If you enjoy reading lighthearted romances with an emphasis on family, this is an easy one to pick up (as well as any of Lucy Diamond’s other books)!

I have read several books by Lucy Diamond and really enjoyed them - this one continued that! A well written story with some lovely characters, who I really came to like. It was an unusual concept for a story; Lara and Ben spend one night together in New York then don't see each other again until Lara's daughter, Eliza decides to try and find her Dad.
The story travels between Scarborough, where Lara and Eliza live and Cambridge, when Ben is. It also takes in New York again, where some facts from when Lara & Ben were first there come to the surface. I have to say that I was never quite sure where the story was heading or how it was going to end but I was enjoying the book so happen to carry on reading and find out! Did it turn out how you would like it to? I'm not going to spoil it for you....you'll just have to read it yourself to find out!! I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Thank you to Net Galley & the publishers for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review, which is what I have given.

Lara and Ben had one night together in New York together before something happened and they didn't meet again as planned. 19 years later her daughter Eliza wants to find out more about the father she has never met, which starts off a series of events in their search.
I had sympathy for all the characters in the story, including Kristen, Ben's wife. There were twists and turns which left me wondering right up to the end in what the final outcome would be. Overall a book that I enjoyed, although it took several days for me to read.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

An easy read story about Eliza, the result of a one night stand and her quest to meet her birth father.

Thought that Lara and Ben were likeable characters, sympathetically and realistically written. Eliza though came across as rather selfish, childish and impulsive at times and somewhat annoying.

Another criticism is that this felt overly long, I ended up skimming some parts that didn’t really add anything to the story.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me an ARC and the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my review.

I just adored this book, Anything Could Happen by Lucy Diamond! Intrigued from
The first few pages, the author crafted a delicious tale of romance and love lost, only to be found again in different ways.
Anything Could Happen is a very apt title as this book delved through varying relationships and how life and live can change or occur at anytime. Missed opportunities, family relationships and wonderful characters make Anything Could Happen a delightful read.
4.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Anything Could Happen by Lucy Diamond
This is a lovely book for all who like a will they, won’t they situation. Lara & Ben meet one night in New York and while love looks set to blossom, real life gets in the way and they both get on with their respective lives back in England but miles apart.
Just short of twenty years later they reconnect when their daughter Eliza discovers the circumstances of her birth and goes on a mission to get to know her father. A lovely easy read this story keeps you guessing right to the end.
Many thanks to #NetGalley and #Quercus for an ARC of this warm cosy story. 3.5 ⭐️

I’ve been fond of Lucy Diamond’s stories for years now - but I’ve not picked one up for a while. The blurb appealed to me for this one and it didn’t disappoint. Ben & Lara are twenty somethings exploring New York - Ben as a tourist and Lara on an internship. Their paths cross and nothing will ever be the same again - but for what reasons? Fast forward 18 years and Ben is married to Kirsten and living in Cambridge, while single Mum Lara and her daughter live in Scarborough. Could there paths ever cross again? Perfect contemporary romcom fiction. I really loved it.

My first book of 2022 and Lucy Diamond didn’t disappoint. I have read one of her books in a few years but I was so impressed by how quickly I got into this book. Easy writing style and great characters.

Anything could happen is a story starts in New York 19 years ago then bounces forward to present day and how Lara’s decisions have impacted the last 19 years.

A couple of twists along the way to keep you reading. A fairly light and fluffy Chicklit to start the year.

This as an enjoyable novel, and I’m sure it will be popular with Lucy Diamond’s many fans. It is the story of Lara and her daughter Eliza. They find Eliza’s father and we follow the story of them all learning about one another and Lara and Ben, Eliza’s father, sorting out what had happened between them eighteen years earlier. The novel is interesting and an easy read. Thanks to Quercus books and Netgalley for an ARC of this novel

A lovey feel good read.

It was a bit of a slow starter, but ended just the way I wanted it too.

Lara meets Ben in New York, they plan to meet up the following evening, but Ben doesn’t turn up. Back in Scarborough Lara gets on with life, has a daughter who is 18 and one day Eliza (daughter) decides she wants to meet her dad. The father she thinks that was hers isn’t and the plot thickens.

Loved all the different places this book visited. 4.2 stars.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

If you love a little family drama in your books, you're going to want to check out Anything Could Happen. It's told from several shifting perspectives. First, we have Lara and her 18-year-old daughter Eliza, who just learns that the man who walked out on her when she was younger isn't in fact, her dad.

After thorough internet searching, Eliza makes Lara take her to Cambridge to meet Ben, her biological father, who Lara met one serendipitous night out when she was interning in NYC. While Ben and Eliza build a relationship, Ben's marriage to his wife falls apart.

As you can see, there are a lot of complex relationships forming and collapsing in Anything Could Happen. It's a book that undeniably takes you on a journey as Eliza and Lara both connect (and reconnect with Ben). Every character has their flaws, which to me makes them so much more real and relatable. Filled with heartbreaking, heartwarming and tender moments, the book had a good pace as it takes you on a journey.

At its core, Anything Could Happen is a book about love, family, second chances and how one decision can truly change your life. I think fans of both Lucy Diamond and Paige Toon will enjoy going on a journey across the UK and to New York alongside the cast of characters in Anything Could Happen.

Thank you to Quercus Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for this honest review.

After reading a few of Lucy Diamonds books including the Beach Cafe series, I was excited for her new book. It did not disappoint!!

As always in her own inimitable style she creates characters you can laugh with, cry with and genuinely care about.

I found myself enthralled in the tale of Lara and Ben’s first encounter in New York when they spent the night together.
Fast forward from New York to Scarborough to Cambridge I felt like an interloper looking in on the way their lives became entwined
After all, anything could happen and I was silently screaming on from the sidelines so much I couldn’t put the book down!
I laughed and cried along with Lara, Ben and Eliza and by the end of the book felt like I knew the characters inside out.

Fabulous book, I’m hoping for a sequel!!

Thank you @netgally and @quercus books for for my copy to review and give my honest opinion.

Lara and Ben met in New York 19 years ago and were convinced they were soulmates. However, after spending the night together they made arrangements to meet the next day but unfortunately events dictated otherwise. Fast forward on 19 years and secrets start to emerge for Lara and her daughter Eliza.

This is the second Lucy Diamond book I have read and I loved it. It is full of secrets, happiness, heartbreak, twists and turns which kept me hooked. The characters were relatable and the places where the book was set were described in great detail, Scarborough, New York, Cambridge and Edinburgh.

A delightful read which I would highly recommend.
