It was fine, it was cute. The art is neat. The dialogue of the little girl was a bit weird though because she didn't speak like a little girl. That's pretty much all I have to say

I adored this book. It was fun, colourful and whimsical. It was so heartwarming and it kept me hooked the entire time.
I can’t wait to continue.

Evelyn was born with purple hair, which is believed to be a sign of the witch, so her father ripped her from her mother's arms and had her taken to the convent to be raised by the nuns. Soon, a young Evelyn's antics attracts attention of a hat-maker who takes her under his care, but as she arrives and the hat-maker seems to understand her feline companion, Benedict, it's clear that he isn't exactly who he says he is.

First impression of this comic, it comes out swinging. I thought this was going to be a cute and fluffy comic from the graphics which remind me of something you'd find in a harvest moon-like game. I want to say Fantasy Life had something akin to this style, pretty much kawaii chibi styled characters.

The comic starts with the death of a witch who has basically sacrificed herself after being pursued by witch hunters and miraculously Evelyn is born to a family with connections to both worlds which is why she is discarded by her father and goes to live with the nuns.

Master Neil is a curious character. When he first popped up I got some heavy Willie Wonka vibes. I don't know if that was just me though.

The comic was cute and fairly light in spite of some of the darker content and Benedict was adorable and a bit snarky but also seems to help wrangle in the fiery Evelyn. This has massive potential and it was the perfect witchy read for October.

This comic is so cute! Seriously, the art style is adorable. The story definitely feels familiar, but all the same, I’m curious what lies ahead for Evie and Benedict. They have a fun dynamic between each other and lots of character. Looking forward to book 2!

Such a cute, beautiful, short story!!
Once I spotted the cover on Netgalley, I was intrigued to know more about it as I've been looking for some sweet, short reads. The synopsis pulled me in and I got it right away. This is very short, I managed to read in less than 30 minutes and it is just sooo cute!
I liked how it ended in a sort of cliffhanger to get us excited for book 2. This is my first time trying this kind of books and, honestly, I don't know why I didn't try this earlier.

It's the first comic of the #magic series which leads us to a witch who's house were set on fire. Before Leaving her soul she gives all her energy to the next heir who's gonna take her place. And the New witch is A newborn purple haired baby named Evelyn.

But the hat maker seems like more than a hat maker. What's the mystery?

I truly loved this book. I kept everyone recommending it after i finished reading. The illustrations were so cute and vibrant. But the story needs more content and i want to know what happens in the next installment of the story. can't wait!

This was very cute, with beautiful artwork throughout. I felt like by the end it felt a little like filler, setting up for a much more exciting volume 2, which I would definitely be interested to read. i'm always here for a graphic novel with a little bit of magic and a talking animal. However, I didn't really like that Evelyn was really quite rude to those that had cared for her (and seemingly lovingly cared for).

A bit of a mixed bag for me, and I felt as though it was possibly a little bit of a slow volume to hold a child's attention.

This was a short and cute read. The art style is adorable and the story is fast paced which is good for kids. I found the main character to be a bit rude considering who she was raised by. But, other than that it was an enjoyable read.

Born to a witch hunter and his wife, purple haired Evelyn is sent away to be raised at a convent by nuns. Children born with purple hair all have powers, and as a witch hunter, her father cannot be seen having such a child. When she becomes too much for the sisters to handle, they apprentice her to a hat-maker from London named Neil. But Neil seems to have a few tricks up his sleeve, as well!

Magic, The Girl with the Purple Hair is adorably drawn and well written. Evelyn is adorably mischievious, and I think we'll all want a cat like Benedict. This book would also be great for middle grade aged kids and up, they will love the artistic style of the comic and will be drawn in by the magical story.

This was such a cute read! Evelyn is SO endearing and I can't wait for her future adventures. I loved the artwork as well, it reminded me of cartoons and gaming.

Ok, first things first, look at this cover. It is absolutely the most adorable thing I have seen in weeks. The art inside is also so adorable, it would make for such a cute cartoon style or maybe a video game.

Thoughts while reading:
Benedict the cat is a little dramatic
I can’t quite tell the tone of this opening scene
I sense drama and Karma
The poor sisters
Those ghosts are cute
Her hair is so fluffy
This is just so cute.

I feel that you can get a pretty good idea about this book from those thoughts. It was just cute. Not too dark and deep but cute. It is perfect for this spooky season if you can’t stand horror.

The artwork of this comic book is absolutely lovely, it radiates cuteness and warmth. This is the first book of a very sweet story about a little witch with purple hair who's discovering the magic within her. Obviously, this comic is made for children. But I can see adults enjoying it, just for the art.

Overall, an adorable and magical little story.

this was a cute little magical story. i enjoyed it though it dragged at times and was a little more nonsensical than i was anticipating. i would actually love to watch this as an animated cartoon or a motion picture in general. super colorful art style that i loved and enjoyed.

I saw a cute cover with a purple-haired witch, a black cat and ghosts and I knew I had to read this story. I was right, it was adorable and the best part - the cat talks (Salem much?)😊😊
The art is pretty basic but so cute and colourful, the characters’ noses made me chuckle because they were basically random lumps separated from the faces…😂
Our main character Evelyn is perhaps a bit too mature and reasonable for a child but it happens a lot when grown-ups write child characters. Benedict is grumpy and funny and drawn so cutely.😉

I'm excited for the next one, and this hasn't even come out! Evelyn is a super cute witch that London's non magic population has turned their back on. The art style is cute, I love the little ghosts, and it is beautiful in general.

This was so incredibly wholesome and adorable and I love it so thoroughly.

I want to share it with all my friends, because it brought me a level of joy I haven't had in a while.

The art style in this book was super cute at times I thought that I was reading along to a video game, the world was that immersive! I found it was slow at times - pacing could be better especially in the nunnery. The wizard was a good twist and I would be excited to read the follow up.

THIS BOOK IS SO CUTE!!!! I'm a sucker for cute magical girl adventures and Magic fills that bill. Born with purple hair Evelyn clearly has main character energy, complete with a sad backstory. In this world witches are hunted down, forcing Evelyn's family to give her to a convent. Evelyn grows up to be a bit a of playful trickster with a good heart. However it's time for Evelyn to learn a trade and somewhat control her powers. The nun's finally arrage for Evelyn to have a teacher to learn a trade. (maybe to control her powers too) Off our lil purple haired Evelyn to her new life in London with her black cat friend Benny.

Evelyn is such a sassy lil thing. Benny the black cat is cute as well. The art work is done somewhat chibi style, it adds to the wholesome story. The colors are used nicely. Overall utterly cute, I look forward to the rest of the series.

This was absolutely adorable! I loved Evelyn's friendship with the cat Benedict and the adventures she got
up to. The art style and the story were both fun, and I'm hoping it will be even more fun in future volumes! This volume was a bit more of a set up for future volumes, so I'm looking forward to seeing what else happens in the series!

There was one part where Evelyn calls the cat a "big fat lazy bum,” which I thought was unnecessary.

What an adorable book with equally adorable illustrations!

Evelyn is born with purple hair, a sign that she might have witch blood in hair. Her horrified father immediately despatches the newborn off to a convent, where the nuns take care of little Evie for seven years. Evie grows up with lots of love and disciplining, along with her pet cat Benedict. But when her strange powers grow too much for them, they entrust her to a milliner from London to learn a trade. But Master Neil isn’t exactly what he claims to be. What secrets does London hold for little Evie?

I enjoyed this little witchy story. Evie will make a place in your heart with her huge purple hair and her puppy-dog eyes. Benedict is as cool as a black cat can be. I got some Harry Potter vibes from the story, but it still has its own charm. There are some things yet to be explained but as this is just the first of a series, I am sure the subsequent books will contain more details.

The illustrations are what really drew me to the book in the first place. In spite of having a dark theme, the illustrations are very cutesy and form a stark contrast to the tale. Because of the drawing style, even scary scenes don’t feel scary. But no complaints from my side, I really loved the graphics.

A lovely tale for children to read in this spooky month. Heartily recommended! I can’t wait for the next book!

4.5 stars from me, rounding up. Docking off 0.5 because I wanted it to have more content. It’s barely 50 pages long, so it felt more like a comic than a graphic novel.
