Thank you so much to NetGalley and David Littschwager for the advanced reader preview of the book! Each photograph in the preview was absolutely stunning, and the excerpt of text was very engaging to read!

Thanks so much for this opportunity, and I’m certainly looking forward to the extended release later this year.

Gorgeous photos. I can only imagine how difficult it is to photograph these magnificent creatures.

Unfortunately, the review copy I received is only 6% of the book, but I did already learn in the few pages I have access to that jellyfish don’t have brains! I’m looking forward to the rest of the book.

Thank you NetGalley and National Geographic for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I love these sea creatures and love to look at them even more! I can't wait for the full version of this book to be released.

These would be incredibly difficult animals to capture on film. Nevertheless the pictures are stunning! The pictures have a sense of movement to them and often show the same animal in different stages of movement, which is significant when a body can change shape as much as an octopus ore Jellyfish's.

The small portion of text in this sample was accessible and interesting and I am very much looking forward to sitting down with this book and exploring these weird and wonderful creatures!

Gorgeous in every way. This would make a lovely gift for anyone who enjoys sea life or rarely seen creatures from the ocean. This book truly amazed me with its stunning photographs that show the incredible details and colors of a variety of - as the title indicates- Octopus, Seahorse, and Jellyfish. The 200 photo are described as "David Liittschwaher's most revealing images," and that they are. In addition, the essays are fun and fascinating and could be very useful in school science classes because of the cool facts: jellyfish don't have brains (or blood or bones). The authors of the essays are themselves bestselling science writers.

This seemed lacking as an ocean coffee table book. I have several and the title of them excited me but there were only two species from each category represented. The photo that were there were absolutely gorgeous but this book definitely needed more.

Thank you NetGalley for a preview of the book in exchange for an honest review. Even an excerpt of the book makes for fascinating reading and the pictures are simply exquisite. I think it would make for a fantastic gift for anyone looking for an entry into science based on the quality of the scientific communication alone.

This is a beautiful book filled with 200 detailed photographs of octopuses, seahorses, and jellyfish. The sample I received didn’t include very much text, but what I did read was intriguing and easy to understand. This would be a fun coffee table book to browse, and a lovely gift. I would have loved this as a child fascinated by sea creatures, but this book is likely to fill anyone interested in nature with a sense of child-like wonder.

Thanks to National Geographic for providing me with an unproofed ARC sample through NetGalley. I volunteered to provide an honest review.

I received an excerpt as a review copy of this book. It includes beautiful photographs, descriptions and essays. The review copy did not include a complete example of one of the essays. From what I could determine, it was well written. This is likely a great coffee table book.
It might actually be a 5 star coffee table book, but I am being conservative because I received such a small sample.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Octopus, Seahorse, Jellyfish by David Liittschwager is an absolutely beautiful book of full-color photos and well-researched information. According to the description, "acclaimed photographer David Liittschwager reveals the unnerving beauty of three notoriously mysterious sea creatures--the jellyfish, octopus, and seahorse--and how they perceive the world." The book contains over 200 photos, and interspersed between the photos are essays written by bestselling science writers.

Overall, Octopus, Seahorse, Jellyfish is a gorgeous collection of photos that would make an excellent coffee table book. This would also make an excellent gift for the art-lover or marine science-lover in your life. One highlight of this book are the amazing photos. The photographer has clearly mastered the art of taking photos of bioluminescent creatures. I can't wait to read the full book so that I can see all of the photos. If you're intrigued by the description, or if you're a fan of nature photography, you won't regret checking out this book when it comes out in April!

Liittschwager is a true artist, having developed portraiture techniques to capture with stunning effect these marvelous sea creatures. He portrays not just their physical beauty, but also their life force. This 16-page sample succeeds in luring the eye and tickling the wonder bone. The finished book promises 200 such gorgeous images, plus essays by eminent science writers, including Pulitzer Prize winner Elizabeth Kolbert.

The collection of 200 photographs is stunning, each one vividly showing each of these creatures. The purpose of this book is to create a new perspective on octopi, seahorses, and jellyfish. And it succeeds. The beauty displayed in the photographs shows you the unique characteristics of these creatures such as a cannonball jellyfish and a southern keeled octopus. These photographs are paired with essays that dig deeper into the cognitive abilities and biology of each of these creatures. Perfect for lovers of the ocean and aquatic animals! Those that appreciate breathtaking photo collections won't be able to put this down.

I enjoyed this nonfiction story about sealife. It is a book that has great information as well as pictures that bring each sealife reality. It is a grafic story where the sealife come to life on each page. It was entertaining to see each sealife as well as learn a little bit about them. This is a great story that would be great for anyone of any age. It is interactive and kept you engaged. This is a great book that I highy recommend and can't wait to share it with my grandchildren.

As a scuba diver, I have long been fascinated by all living creatures of the sea. The octopus, the seahorse and the jellyfish being some of the magnificent to spot and observe. To watch on as they effortlessly dance and glide through their underwater kingdoms is soothingly hypnotic. This 16-page teaser is a loving tribute dedicated to these wonderfully enigmatic animals, replete with incredible photography -- in true National Geographic style. What a stunning coffee table book for any ocean-lover in your life!

Though the sample didn't provide enough of the text to review, it most certainly showcased enough photographs, which are beyond description. Liittschwager's methods exquisitely display these underappreciated animals whilst also commutating his obvious appreciation for them and the care undertaken to capture them in such stunning ways. Even without having read more than two paragraphs, I would recommend and buy it for the eye-candy alone; gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

This brief extract of the full picture book represents a wonderful taster of what I've come to expect from National Geography. Aside from the magazine, I'm also a true fan of these beautiful pictorials. As a diver in my previous life, I could fully appreciate the difficulty of creating these entrancing picture and the tremendous patience the photographer must have had. Absolutely stunning!

Octopus, Seahorse, Jellyfish
by David Liittschwager, Elizabeth Kolbert

I received a sample of 16 pages from NetGalley to judge this book. If it were any other publisher than National Geographic I would hesitate to rate what I have not read. What I did see was typical gorgeous photography you would expect from NatGeo. The little script that was there could be suited for any age. This had sea life, my favorite!

Since I drool all over NatGeo magazines but especially their nature books, I have no doubt in the least that the rest of the book will be as mesmerizing as all of their other books! So I don't hesitate at all to give a positive rating for this book based on what I have seen and the reputation of these delightfully, educational, and entertaining books!

The pictures in this book are absolutely stunning, I really wish the sample was longer so I could have gotten to see more! These creatures are fascinating and from what I can tell this book seems to strike a great balance between beautiful images and informational sections. Definitely looking forward to the final product!
