It's clear from the small peek into "Octopus, Seahorse, Jellyfish" that Littschwager's photography is stunning. Readers will be enthralled by the detailed look at animals who live their lives so differently than humans do that most of us can barely imagine their existence. In the tiny cross-section we are able to read a sliver of Elizabeth Kolbert's essay on jellies, "Brainless Beauties." Her writing makes science quite approachable for readers of all kinds and her description was about to pull me in as a jellyfish's tentacles secure its prey but, alas, the page ended mid-sentence. I will have to buy a copy of the book to immerse myself in the color and mystique of these ocean creatures, as well as reading more from authors Kolbert, Jennifer Holland, and Olivia Judson.

Wow. Just stunning images of these beautiful sea creatures. I am not sure how they were able to capture such clear, vivid photos, but they did. The combination of art and science are just breathtaking, and I found myself lost in the descriptions. I received a truncated version for early reviewing, and it was not enough to quench my desire to know more! I look forward to the full version when released. I received a complimentary advanced copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own, freely given.

This book looks so cool! The layout and photography are very dramatic and gorgeous and it makes the animals look almost otherworldly. So cool to see the amazing things in nature.

I haven't realize this was a sample of the book. My bad, still it was very promising for the actual book. National Geographic photography quality is always the best there is out there. Magnificent!! I will try to look for ti when it come out and see what the full book is worth, but again, very promising!

"On the cutting edge of both marine science and photography. ..."

This is a brief taster for the book, but even at only 16 pages it offers fine photos and a promise of interesting and well written essays. Certainly sets the reader up to anticipate an entertaining and rewarding final volume.
