Quite complete, very practical, and with different versions of the exercises so that each reader can choose the one they prefer. It is quite simple, direct, and with a light style, although it doesn't neglect the details in terms of explanations. No prior knowledge is required either, and I would go so far as to say that it's a practical course in ritual magic that, although useful for new readers, complements Damien's previous books.

Thank you Sounds True and NetGalley for this ARC. This book of rituals is based on witchcraft with a religious aspect. The content was very new to me and some parts were of interest but Other parts lost my personal interest and were skimmed over. This book would be a fabulous companion for the right audience.

This is a sweet little book, a collection of many rituals and small practices that people could use to develop or deepen their spirituality. I was surprised at the number of references to God but less surprised about references to angels and archangels, having read Damien's book about his time on death row. I know that may be off putting for some but if that's not a concern for you then you might enjoy the book.

Interesting ideas and good explanations. Would've liked a bit more about what types of "results" the authors saw from their practices, and bit less of Lorri's Damien worship.

Timely, in that so many are looking for purpose these days. Echols is focusing on The Great Work--a much more intense practice than most of the practitioners I come across. It reads like a doctoral thesis or an ancient text translated from Latin rather than a modern take on witchcraft. Each word seems measured and well-thought-out. However, the intensity means that this is only for the truly serious practitioner, not for the simply curious. While I didn't enjoy reading it, it will find it's audience and I'm sure I'll get requests for purchase from patrons.

I'm not a Christian Witch but I think that different people walk different Paths and this book about the rituals of a specific couple of persons.
I don't share their path but there were some interesting idea and I appreciated the spirituality behind what I read.
It's not a book for beginners.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

I received this copy from NetGalley in exchange for my review. I am not a beginner witch by any means but I like to scout around for beginner-friendly books for friends that are interested in getting into the craft. This is not the first book I've read from Damien Echols. I was a little underwhelmed by his book High Magick, but wanted to give him another chance.

First off, this book is heavily religious. For beginners who don't know, witchcraft is not inherently religious. I have met Catholic and Christian witches. I am personally not a fan as I have had a bad experience with both religions. I do wish there was more of a disclaimer that let people know they could separate the two. Not only that, they randomly have spells or rituals involving other gods. While I am all for eclectic information, it felt very out of context since they mentioned how their practice brought them closer to God and angels. While it is a grimoire that shares both Damien and Lorrie's experiences (though this felt like it was only written in Lorrie's voice) they added in a lot of extras that did not need to be there.

The spells and exercises were pretty decent. They went over a lot of good basics that I have used and some I still use regularly. In my opinion, I felt they included some spells that are more advanced and would not give to a beginner. That was one of my main issues with the other book I read. For example, I would not say cord-cutting is a beginner ritual. That is just my opinion as others would disagree, but feel that it is important to say.

Overall, I would recommend that if you are not of the Christian faith or similar religions, to just borrow this from the library and only read the exercises and spells. I also would recommend to all readers to do your research on the cultures behind some of these practices and make sure you aren't accidentally appropriating or practicing from a closed practice. If you're a Christian witch looking to start out, this is the perfect book for you.

I was interested in reading this book because it seemed like it was going to go into different rituals you could bring into your practice. It was not. The book is about small daily practices you can do for a more spiritual life. All of the sections were so short it felt like the outline to the book. And if I was a beginner practitioner I would have been so lost. There were no definitions or sources. Occasionally there was false information (saying all crystals can be cleansed either in water or the sun; have fun doing that with selenite or amethyst) I saw other reviewers had issues with the catholic focused worship, and I didn’t find that bothersome. But what did bother me was taking from other cultures with blatant disregard. There was no reciprocity and you can’t just name drop actual rituals from the Lesser Key of Solomon to sound advanced. One of the rituals for candle magic was, “light a candle with intention” that’s not a ritual.

Well written but wasn't for me. There are many paths and this book gives great information on one path.

Let me start with a note about my personal preference, which doubtlessly has influence over my review of this book.
I don't believe in a Christian god, not Christian morals - contrary to the authors of this book. This system of beliefs expressed by the authors penetrates the book a tad bit too much for my personal taste, which is why I removed a star.

If you are Christian, or otherwise aligned with monotheism and magic, you will undoubtedly find that this book offers an extension to your practice!

Aside from that, it is very well written and I like the design, overview and flow of this book. Some parts of this book read like a personal story, vividly enough for you to actually be there, while providing you with the means the authors used to escape such vile situations as being confronted with a loved one convicted & awaiting a lethal injection.

The practices described are really effectively. I picked a few basic ones and found them to be not just effective, but advancing. You know their methods are tried and tested, and this gives me the feeling that they would improve anyone's daily life.

That being said; grimoire to me refers so a different kind of book, and while I understand the authors approach after reading it, it might be a bit misleading to those who expect incantations, potions and rituals in the classical magical sense.

If you're looking for a book which contains a lot of practical methods alongside the means of energy work, visualisation, meditation and kinetic magic, this could be the addition you're looking for, for me it's a bit too close to general spiritualism than traditional methods of witchcraft.

Another drawback is a heavy focus on positive thinking, akin to manifestation gurus - with some of the same messaging. This, depending on the reader, might be positive and encouraging, yet to me it was more akin to toxic positivity and wishful thinking. Again, not saying it's bad, simply that this isn't my cup of tea.

Contents include;
- a diverse array of meditations, visualisations, energy cycling and grounding exercises
- Sigil magic
- a course in manifestation
- affirmations
- a few pages of correspondences (!)

Sadly no bibliography to lead you to other books, besides the author's prior works.

Anyone with a metaphysical mind will love reading this book. There is a lot to learn within its pages. I have gained a lot. Thanks

Ritual by Damien Echols and Lorri Davis is filled with the magical primer for Damiens angelic witchcraft that he shared with Lorri. The book goes over how his form of magic works and different grounding and centering techniques. The book goes over daily rituals that a magician can follow and breathing techniques for energy magic.

This book is fantastic! I have read the first book HIgh Magick and found its exercises and teachings to be healthy and enriching. I have done many of them and came to understand what the excitement is when talking about Magick and how to use it to improve your life. I didnt know what to expect when I started reading this as I thought how could the author compete with the magick teachings of others and what has already been written. Well I can say without a doubt that Damien and Lorri have written a practical, well illustrated, and concise way to keep learning and more importantly using, the rituals that many people are looking for. Dealing with most all common needs from health to dealing with psychic disturbances this book has a way to go forward. The exercises are simple for the most part and you dont need lots of stuff. The tone of writing is conversational but profound and its easy to find what you are looking for once you pick up this book. All in all super great practical addition for anyone who actually does the work, or is interested in starting.

As a spiritual person I've read quite a few books that's been described as a grimoire and this one... was a one of a kind. I was super excited about reading this but it's honestly not my cup of tea. There is probably someone out there who might enjoy it but mixing magic with the christian God and angels is simply not my thing. I really wanted to like this book but I just didn't. Its well written and everything but as I said, its just not my cup of tea.

Very practical and natural magical techniques are presented in this book. Since all can't be explained in one ritual, notes bellow which leads you other similar ritual in the book would be welcomed. But there is no any. Great book for occult students to learn and develop their own systems or just to explore and practice from this one.
