Unfortunately, this ARC was only a small sample of Apple Crush. I wish I had known, because it took me a while to think to look at other reviews and realize that it was not just a glitch in my NetGalley. Anyway, the short sample I read seemed cute so far. I enjoyed Stepping Stones, the first book in this series. This second book is going to follow Jen and her sisters as they start a new job at a pumpkin patch and Jen starts at a new school. Jen is extremely nervous about school, but her step-sister Andy is preoccupied with her crush on one of the neighbor farm boys. The little I got to read was cute so far. I do plan on reading the rest once this book is published in May.

This was just an excerpt from the book. But it seems like it is going to be an enjoyable read. It is set in the fall with back to school and Halloween in the mix.

I had to reread the description of this because nowhere does it say that this is a small sample of the book which was devastating because I was really looking forward to it. That aside, this will definitely live up to the expectations of book 1. The illustrations are just as charming as ever and it will be great to see some familiar faces again (and meet some new ones).

For Libraries: If 'Stepping Stones' is as beloved in your libraries as it is in mine, this is a must buy.

I Love this author and this series. This one did not disappoint. It is amazing as the rest of them. Every shelf needs to have this whole series. Kids and Adults should read this.

This review is based on a small sample of Apple Crush by Lucy Knisley. I read Stepping Stones recently, and this book takes place soon after the events of Stepping Stones. It would be easier to review this book with more than just a sample, but I do think my students would enjoy the story here.. In Stepping Stones, the characters felt very real, and they seem true to the development of the first book in this sample. I look forward to reading the full story and perhaps putting a copy in my classroom.

I agree with other readers and reviewers that it would have been really helpful to know that this was a sample and not the full book, but I still appreciate the opportunity to read part of Lucy Knisley’s latest! I love all of her books, including Stepping Stones, and will definitely read this one in full as soon as it’s available!

I really enjoyed the sample of this graphic novel. It was nice to revisit these characters, as I have read the previous title, Stepping Stones, and liked it. I like the farm setting and the fall/Halloween vibes. I'm intrigued to read more about Jen's experience starting a new school and Andy navigating a new crush, as well as the dynamics of this blended family. I also am a fan of the art style. Will definitely be reading this in its entirety.

I didn't realize this was just a sample, but it was still charming and cute. As a fan of Kinsley's other work, I look forward to reading the full book!

I enjoyed this preview of the companion book to Stepping Stones, a graphic novel I liked a lot. The autumn and pumpkin patch setting are already fun and I'm looking forward to reading more of the whole book. Also excited to see how it deals with the difficulties of growing up too.

A fun beginning to a story. This seems like it will play on a lot of themes such as young love, new beginnings, and much more.

Thank you to netgalley for an e-galley for review. This version of "Apple Crush" by Lucy Kinsey is not the full story, so I can't give a full review, but so far, I'm hooked. The drawings are gorgeous, I can smell that mushroom farm. The story line is fully engaging and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I enjoyed Lucy Knisley's other books including Stepping Stones. I didn't realize this was only a sampling of the sequel until I quickly finished reading it. It was hard to gather how to rate this book accordingly, but I like the exploration of friendship, romance and working together at a pumpkin patch during the fall/Halloween season. It reminded me of another graphic novel Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell. A reading of the full text would help to review the book appropriately.

I really enjoyed Stepping Stones, the first book in this "series," so I'm sure Ill enjoy this book as well. However, I only read the first 30-some pages so it's hard to gauge how much I'll like this book. Also, it was not made apparent that this was only a sample of the book. I try not to read those because it's hard to give an accurate review. I like Knisley's art style and writing style, and we can see that in this book. I also love Fall-themed books, which include Halloween and pumpkins. Looking forward to reading the entire book.

Somehow I failed to note that this was an excerpt from the book, rather than a full book. The excerpt was insufficiently long to provide anything more than a two star review. As far as I can tell it appears to be about a love triangle in middle school? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I really enjoyed the book to which this is sequel-- Stepping Stones-- which was a beautiful, funny, and touching tale about blended families and growing up. The sample of Apple Crush picks up the story where Stepping Stones left off, and offered a tantalizing glimpse of how our protagonist Jen will continue to navigate family dynamics, friendships, and farm life (a challenge for a dyed-in-the-wool city girl). I look forward to reading the rest of this beautiful graphic novel!

Thanks to Random House Children's and Netgalley for the eARC preview of Apple Crush by Lucy Knisley. This review is based on just a preview; I have not read the entire book.

Set in an apple orchard/pumpkin farm, this cute book will appeal to 4th-6th graders. The graphics are cute and the storyline flows. I love that it's set in the fall and based in a pumpkin patch - one of my favorite places in the fall! It almost reminds me of a younger version of Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell. I can't wait to read the rest of it and will definitely be adding it to my next library order, once it's available for purchase.

I loved Stepping Stones, so when I saw that there was a second book I got very excited. I loved reading this excerpt of Apple Crush. It is super cute so far. With the little bit that I read I know it's going to be a good story. I can't wait to read the rest!

Thanks to Netgalley for providing a sample of this in exchange for an honest review.

Can't wait to see the rest of this book! Excited to read more about Jen and her new stepsisters and the Peapod Farm. Huge fan of Lucy Knisley's work!

From the short excerpt that we got to read of this book, I'm hooked! I can't wait to read the rest of the book.

Apple Crush appears to be a very promising middle-grade graphic novel illustrating typical anxieties for this age-group including crushes and new schools. The provided ARC was only a portion of the book, so I cannot produce a thorough assessment, so ignore the star rating. The illustrations were well done and I thought the children were cute and innocent in appearance.
