I absolutely loved this book. Ophelia and Devin were relationship goals. I would love to hear the backstory of Fifi being taken from her mother. I feel like there's more to the story.

A Scoundrel of Her Own is the third book in the Sinful Wallflowers series and I loved it. Ophelia/FiFi and Devlin grabbed my attention from the start and I was hooked until the end. These two were amazing together. Their chemistry, angst, steam made me swoon, cried, laughed and everything in between. They were from two different worlds and were forbidden from each other and I enjoyed seeing the evolution of their relationship as the story progressed. This tale was well written and captivating and another great addition to the series. I would highly recommend it to lovers of historical romance.

This took me a while to get into, but by the end, I was feeling it! I've been in a reading slump for a few months, so that's probably on me.

Idk what it is about Stacy Reid books- well actually I do know. The thing is, while reading Stacy’s books I always ultimately enjoy them but I take so long to read them. Part of the reason is because while enjoyable, I feel like I’ve read the exact same storyline numerous times before. You would think not especially given the context within but a lot of it fell really flat for me. To put it simply, mediocre is the word to come to mind.

Now I also want to point out that with historical romances you’re typically signing up for the same sort of book elements so it’s to be expected but for this series specifically, they always drag for me for that exact reason.

The characters also felt a bit one dimensional. While I loved the hero, I really struggled to connect to the heroine. At the beginning I could understand her motives and wants but I feel like along the way I forgot why it was I wanted to root for her.

Was this a good book? Yes 100%. But it’s not a book that is remarkable enough to me where I will remember it fondly for years to come. But regardless of that, I know many other readers will love this book a lot and appreciate it far more than I do.

Overall this was an ok book, enjoyable but nothing I’d want to read again.

Stacy Reid continues to absolutely decimate my heart with this third instalment of her Sinful Wallflower series. I’ve loved the previous instalments in this series and adore Stacy Reid’s writing style. She’s always able to create characters you fall in love with alongside a gripping plot to follow along the way to our HEA. Not to mention the steam is always fantastic.

This book follows Ophelia and Devlin, who met and fell for each other as children before they even knew what that meant and the difficulties they’d face. Having been separated for many years since and their lives following different paths, they are reunited and fall for each other all over again.

As usual Stacy Reid so effortlessly brings these characters to life. Ophelia is a sweetheart with a heart of gold, rebelling from the expectations placed upon her as a result of her standing in society while struggling to come to grips with familial secrets. Meanwhile, Devlin has a difficult past, no place in society and the appearance of a rogue but is still able to match Ophelia with his soft heart.

Couldn’t recommend this more, but be warned you’ll want to devour the rest of SR’s books and she’s got a substantial backlist!

I failed at finishing this book. I was slowly reading through it and did not move it over to my kindle in time.
I believe I was about 60% through and had enjoyed what I had read so far. It was a typical historical romance. The scoundrel was not accepted by the Ton and the lady was slowly falling for him. He was a part of her past and had just figured this out when meeting him again as an adult. I was just at this point so I'm assuming, they fall in love and marry and all ends well.

Stacy Reid’s third Sinful Wallflower romance follows Lady Ophelia Darby, whose search for her birth mother leads her to the darker and more dangerous corners of London. There she finds Devlin Byrne, a wealthy scoundrel unwelcome in the circles she lives in. What she doesn’t realize is that they share a history, and though Devlin let her go once, he refuses to make that same mistake again.

Reid's Her Wicked Marquess is one of my favorite historical romances in recent memory, so I was thrilled to get back to her work. The setup of Ophelia and Devlin meeting as children and his dedication from a young age to becoming a man worthy of her instantly hooked me. I also liked Ophelia's journey towards finding her birth mother and the exploration of the tension it created within her family.

Overall though I think this just wasn't as tight as other books I've read by Reid. The characters were likable, the plot interesting, but it meandered a bit at time and sometimes felt as though certain plot points were not as strongly woven throughout as I wanted them to be.

Still, Reid is an excellent writer and one that I'm always eager to read more from and I hope there are more books coming in this series.

This one was a real slog to get through. Just really hard work.

15 years ago, poor 12-year-old Devlin saved 8-year-old Lady Ophelia from drowning. They spent a few days together in the woods, waiting to be rescued. Those few days were enough for both of them to decide that they would marry each other once they had grown up. 15 years later, Devlin is now rich and one of the most feared men in London. Ophelia is a wallflower who disguises herself to go sing in places of ill repute. Despite Devlin's improved financial status, he's still of a lower class to Ophelia. They'll have to fight society itself to have a chance at their happy-ever-after.

I adore Stacy Reid's historical romances. They have a modern feel but they're still firmly present in their historical setting. With this one, unfortunately, it felt like the author expected her audience to accept too much within the context of the story. The class issue was a major hurdle and then seemingly vanished when it needed to, Ophelia's illicit performances never had a hint of danger to them because it never felt like someone could potentially find out what she was doing, and Devlin's backstory was so tragic and triumphant at the same time.

But all of that I could have excused away, if I had felt any chemistry between the two main characters. We're supposed to believe they fell in love 15 years ago, as children, and that that puppy love is enough for both of them to endure hardship after hardship in their fight to be together. Because at no point is there a believable moment where one or both of them realise that they have fallen in love with the other person again, as adults. It's all based on the week they spent together 15 years ago, as children. I'm sorry, but that's just a few steps too far removed from believability.

I am a fan of Stacy Reid’s but this was not my favorite read of hers. I really liked Devlin and how he worked so hard to forget himself and tried to fulfill his promise to Fifi. Ophelia was not my favorite as she seemed to forget Devlin and out of sight became out of mind. I like when the hero and heroine are equally committed to their relationship and it felt like Ophelia would not have noticed if Devlin never came back into her life. That being said, I still am a fan of Reid’s but won’t be rereading this one.

This was my first Stacy Reid historical, (I'm still a baby historical reader), but it definitely won't be my last. A Scoundrel of Her Own is book three in the Sinful Wallflowers series, and while it's a standalone, I definitely felt at times that I may have appreciated the Wallflower friendship group if I had read the previous books, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this story.

I feel like the synopsis does a good job of capturing the later portion of the book, but doesn't capture just how precious and lifelong Ophelia and Devlin's connection is. I loved so much that Ophelia had a rebellious, independent woman inside of her and while she was given some freedom and choices by her parents, it was her time spent with Devlin that allowed her to tap into the strength that was always inside of her to make her own choices. What came after was a really romantic and yet very steamy love affair (the notes, the carnal glances- whew!!); while the reader is constantly wondering if their class differences will keep them from being together forever.

I will say that at times I felt the pacing of this one was a bit slow, but when I was into it, I was VERY into it. All in all, I enjoyed this one and will look forward to Stacy Reid releases in the future!

"A Scoundrel of her Own," the third instalment in the 'Sinful Wallflowers' series, is about Delvin and Ophelia. While they both really stirred my interest in the previous book where they appeared, I couldn't connect to either of them as much as I should have.

Delvin and Ophelia met as children, and while they fell in love as adults, their bond as children seemed stronger. Ophelia came across as frivolous, and I felt that had she not met Delvin again, she would have forgotten him. Whereas we know that Delvin worked his way out of poverty, keeping Ophelia in mind. I know it was supposed to be romantic, but Delvin's love for Ophelia sometimes bordered on obsession. This imbalance of affection between the two wasn't that fun to read.

Though I was mildly disappointed by this book, I am not writing off this series. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

This book took me a while to get through but I'm not sure why.
H/h were a great couple and I liked the story and they way their relationship developed but I guess the book just seemed excessively long and a little slow for me.

Overall I enjoyed the book and would read another in the series.

So Spicy, I read it...Twicy!?! Probably not an actual word, but who cares, this book was THAT good!

Still children when they first meet, after a dramatic rescue in which our young hero saves Ophelia from drowning, a bond of friendship and budding first love begins to form before the reality of their two different worlds rushes in and tears them apart.

More than a decade later, Devlin "Niall" Byrne has become a force to be reckoned with. As part owner of a notorious gentleman's club, he has more wealth than most peers but his "common" roots guarantee that he will never be accepted by the high society that Lady Ophelia was born into.

When their paths cross once again, Ophelia is in the disguise of Lady Starlight--the songbird persona she has taken on in order to search for her birth mother--but even after so many years apart, Devlin immediately recognizes his "Fifi" and begins covertly working to keep the girl he never fell out of love with, safe from harm.

Eventually, of course, Devlin reveals himself to Ophelia and the sparks immediately begin to fly!

With Devlin now back in her life, offering outrageous proposals that her family's financial state won't allow her to refuse and her own growing desire to be with him make impossible to ignore, Ophelia is ready to take her turn at being a little wicked.

Both sinfully sexy and sentimentally sweet, A Scoundrel of Her Own, hits all the right notes for an impossible-to-put-down ready, on a cold Winter's night!

Ms. Reid has a real knack for creating wonderful character driven stories that give you the warm emotional fuzzies and plenty of sexy time to drive away the cold. I can NOT wait, for the next Wicked Wallflowers installment to arrive! They are all, SO GOOD!

I absolutely loved the beginning of the books.

I loved how the hero and heroine first met. The way they formed this friendship and the promise to marry each other when they grow up. How cute!!!

I loved the HERO so much. He is the perfect pining hero of all time. The way he felt about the heroine, the way he lived his life in becoming worth the heroine, it just broke my heart a little.

I wasn't a huge fan of the heroine though. And that's why I just couldn't finish the book. I've put it on hold for now coz it's too much to see the dedication of the hero and his feelings toward her and the lack of deep feelings in the heroine toward the hero.

4/5 Stars

** I received this as an E-ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review, Thank you!**

I really had a great time with this book. I really liked the romance between Ophelia and Devlin. I really adored the childhood nickname that Devlin called her. I thought it was adorable. I loved the way you got to watch Ophelia essentaly grow up and stand up for herself and what she wants rather than her parents. Watching these two form a relationship was honestly such a good time. I would highly advise giving this a chance.

Another fun Stacy Reid novel. I had not read the previous books in the series and this book could be read as a stand alone.

The story of Lady Ophelia Darby and Devil Byrne starts when they are kids but have a lapse of 15 years before they catch up again and now both altered and leading different my styles.

Lots of fun elements with a good story line trade mark Stacy Reid romance makes this a book a relaxing and fun read.

I am going to back to read the previous books in this series.

In this book, we meet lovely Ophelia and Niall, now goes by Devlin, who met one day fifteen years ago and spent a great day together. But they were from two different worlds – her being a socialite, him from a working family. He knew he had to become someone in order to become somewhat worthy of her.

Fast forward almost a decade and a half, they meet each other by chance. He runs the underworld and she is on a brink of financial ruin.

I love how Ophelia found out quickly who Niall is. It was one of my main concerns that the whole plot would be basically him hiding his identity and for her to find out at the end of the book. I feel like this plot is overused in so many books.

But it wasn’t like that at all. The whole story was great but in the end, I still wished for more. I feel like them being from two different worlds was the whole plot and how they can’t be together because of that no matter their feelings and at the end, they were like ”oh, f-ck it, we’re doing this and who cares what anyone thinks” and that was it. And I was like ”well, you couldn’t do that sooner??” Because of course this is romance and they will be together at the end and her family just accepted it at the end after she recklessly married him.

So yeah, it’s a good book but you ask yourself at the end why did you read the whole book if they could f-ck the society sooner and went ”yolo” and just married each other in the first place.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 4 out of 5.

Aaaaah, this book! I loved it so much. The two characters were both filled with so much passion, so much longing. And I just can never get enough of the star-crossed lovers trope. Or the dangerous yet misunderstood leading male character trope. Also the trope of the heroine searching for the truth about her past. And then add in A DOG and well, I was just done. So there you go. This historical romance had a good fast pace, lots of great steam, and some amazing lines. I haven't read the others in the series, and it definitely didn't matter. It stood on its own. (But I plan to go bread the others now, of course.)
