I loved this! It is so relatable and funny. I chuckled, I laughed out loud, a teared up a couple of times. My daughter is two now so those infant and baby days are fading fast but these short comics brought them back. The one that really did me in was the dislike about going back to work. "the idea that part of her heart is external and out in the world somewhere." This thought is terrifying and I've thought it a million times. The first time she went to daycare and every morning when I drop her off, pretty much anytime she is out of my sight and even sometimes when she is in view.

The images are fun, quick to read (which is perfect for a new mom who had no brain power) and so diverse. I saw moms of all types represented here.

It is so wonderful that a book like this is out there that puts all of those terrifying and hilarious mom thoughts into images so that all moms know they are not alone. This is going on my list of new mom gifts!

I have followed Grace Farris on Instagram for a while and have enjoyed her illustrations and insights into parenthood. This book is sectioned into Newborn, Infant, Toddler, Preschool, and School-Aged stages. What I love about the book is the goal to see similarities in our journies of parenthood. There's a lot that we can all relate to, even though each parent and baby/child is different. It's been at least a decade since I've been "in the trenches" and I could vaguely remember as I read along, nodding to the ups and downs of each stage. Having a baby can be rather lonely, and feeling connected, or that you're not alone, is amazing. Farris also adds her advice in how to swaddle, singing funny lullabies, and asking about your day at dinner.

I did not know it at the time, but I had been following Grace Farris' work long before this graphic came out. Farris' work helped me explain the importance of hand washing in the Spring of 2020 to my children in a scientific and fun way.

This book does not disappoint. Farris does the same with motherhood- the good, the bad, and the oh-so-sweet parts. It is great that it was published before Mother's Day. This is a great book for any new mom, any mom that just may need a chuckle in their life... basically any parent no matter the child's stage in life.

***I received a free copy of this e-book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.***

This book was funny and relatable. I found myself saving some of the pages to send to mom friends who would appreciate the humor as well. I enjoyed it very much!

This book is written in comic form and explains the experiences of a new mother. I'm reminded of the good and bad of being a new mother. The late nights, sneaking in a nap or two, cuddling, pacifiers with legs, and cute baby onesies.
I am a proud kindergartner mom! This book made me realize that I am not alone in this stage.

I will recommend this book to all of my mom friends.

I thought this book was really fun to read. As a mom of three boys who are out of the baby stage, I could really identify with so much of this book. It was fun to look back at the newborn period and reminisce and be really glad I'm not there anymore. This would be a great read for any new mom and because of the format it's something even a new mom could fit in to her busy schedule!

I have been smiling so hard while reading this book that my cheeks hurts. I am no mother but I can relate to most of the parts after listening to my Ma's countless stories from her pregnancy and post pregnancy period. When a baby is born, it immediately takes the spotlight. Everybody puts their heart and soul ensuring it gets the best of everything while the mother is left all alone, overwhelmed by the sudden changes and a lot of responsibility. Grace Farris sheds light on a mother's journey, from the moment the baby is born to the first seven eventful years, how she slowly transforms from a clueless, lost individual into a super momma. Besides the realistic depictions, the colorful, vibrant illustrations are mesmerizing and the cherry on top.

Packed with hilarious remarks, overflowing love and insightful advices for awkward, embarrassing and hectic situations along with innumerable confusions to come, this is a marvelous book for mothers, would-be-mothers and just anybody who wants to form an idea what it's like to be stuck with the most challenging yet rewarding job in the world. The book feels like a close friend and confidante, someone to rely on, who understands both the miseries and the joys. I am so glad to have read it.

Thank you Netgalley, the publisher and the very talented author for granting me a digital copy of this book. Grace, you nailed it.

I received an electronic ARC from Workman Publishing Company through NetGalley.
Farris captures the mom experience in a series of comics that celebrate the joys and the traumas of motherhood. She brings readers from birth through the elementary years. Her wording and artwork perfectly capture all that happens in a mom's life and mind. I particularly like the encouraging notes she uses to begin each new chapter in the child and the mom's life.
A terrific gift for a young mom starting this journey or a tired mom who needs some encouragement along the way.

Thank you, Walkman Publishing, for the advance reading copy.

I love this book. It has got my entire attention and I read this book cover to cover once I got it.

First, the title and the colourful book cover got me!

And once I opened the book, I just kept on reading the book like I was reading a fun scrapbook/journal. This is such a fun collection I would say. I love the illustrations and the combination of colours!

If you love reading comics and a huge fan of Sarah Scribbles, you will love this one as well! Though the themes are totally different, you will enjoy the realistic illustrations and the writing.

You will keep nodding and sometimes laugh out loud at the realities the book will address with each illustration.

Before and after becoming a mum: what to do and what to do to enjoy yourself. You would not know how fun it is to read this collection unless you read it!

Mom Milestones is a great book for the toddler mom, once the tiring newborn and infant phase is over. It is also a good book for the pregnant mom so that she can recollect the journey after birth. The book is honest, funny and relatable autobiography of motherhood. It is a quick read too, which is good because new moms don't have much time to read. I understand that the author is a mom with three professions, medicine, author and illustration but I wished the illustrations were cleaner. A few doodles felt unfinished, while the anatomy illustrations were perfect.

As a first time mom, Mom Milestones was the perfect book to read in the midst of pregnancy and all the fears and excitement that come with it. It painted motherhood in such an honest, yet joyful light.

Mom Milestones is an absolute delight! This humorous collection of comics is a brilliant blend of wisdom, recognition, and heart. The artist and author, Grace Farris has captured motherhood in such an authentic, kind, fun, and colorful way.
One moment, I was laughing while reading portions out loud to my husband, and then next I was getting teary-eyed and contemplating mom life. An entertaining, relatable book filled with the joy of feeling seen makes Mom Milestones a rare gem. (Especially the parts about Mom wanting to read because she really loves reading!)
Mom Milestones will make the perfect graphic novel to gift to moms, friends, family, and yourself.
Many thanks to the awesome author, Netgalley, and Workman Publishing for an advanced e-copy! Reviews are all my own,

This is the perfect book to give a new mom (think baby shower present). It's illustrated so the reading level is easy (which is needed for a new mom!). It covers all aspects of being a new parent - all of the things you think you know and feel and even some that you don't yet know. You feel seen and understood as this book takes you through the joys and funny moments of parenthood. You'll laugh and cry and relate to something on every single page. The book starts with a newborn and takes you up through having an elementary school child (approx. 7 years old).
I loved it, loved the pictures and found myself nodding constantly. The perfect portrayal of parenthood!

A cute sketch montage of the memorable moments of early motherhood — even my husband found it relatable. Easy to breeze through in one sitting.

This collection of comics playfully reimagines new motherhood from the perspective of the mom instead of the perspective of the child. Although I'm not a mom, it rang very true to anecdotes I have heard from friends. It is a wonderful, down-to-earth, affirming book with lots of heart, spirit, and humor.

Thank you @netgalley and @workmanpub for this advance readers copy of "Mom Milestones"!

Mom Milestones is a collection of comics on motherhood from pregnancy through the first seven years of life with a child. The comics are chronologically ordered and show the "evolution" of moms over time. The idea is that kids often have elaborate milestone lists that parents eagerly cross off, while moms fade into the background of photos and albums. These comics imagine mothers reaching milestones throughout raising their kid or kids. These milestones are not gold-star achievements but humorous things that happen to most parents.

The book is drawn in a lovely style that I enjoyed looking at. The moms and kids in the book represent diverse groups of people, so that many mothers will feel represented. The scenes are very relatable. Of course every parent also makes different experiences, but overall the book really captures how parenthood turns one's life around and its a period of transformation alongside the child growing. And it's a time best approached with humor :)

I think this book makes an excellent gift for new parents or parents to be! I could see myself taking a look every now and then to reminisce and see how the book relates to my life then.

Mom of two (ages 3, 5) here! I was sobbing by page one (Note to the Reader) - I can’t agree more with how unexpectedly isolating, lonely, and confusing motherhood would be. Through humor, mirth, and tears (also seems to be a part of mothering), Mom Milestones shares wisdom and an authentic glimpse into the transformative experience of becoming a mother. This graphic novel serves as a reminder that mothering is a hard, messy business, but I am trying my best, and I got this.

This is not a baby book - this novel focuses on the often forgotten mother, the exhausted, steadfast person who makes the impossible happen - at great sacrifice to herself. I see myself on these pages. I can smile and laugh almost as if I am included in this secret society, in on the inside-joke. I feel seen.

As a doctor mom, I found such nerd humor in the anatomy-related panels, and Farris’ intentional inclusivity of moms in all shapes, sizes, races, fashions.

This would make a fabulous gift to a new mom, experienced mom, future mom, or mom figure, as a nudge of support and encouragement - ‘Mama, you got this’.

What a fun and relatable book for anyone who has a mother, is a mother or knows someone who is a mother. Filled with great humor, painful truths and lots of reality checks this book is a great, fast read (and an easy escape for that mom who is at the stage where reading whole sentences, paragraphs, chapters, and books isn't really an option at the moment).

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this arvanced copy for review.
I've requested it thinking it's a parenting book,I had no idea it's an illustrated book. But I was surprised to be emerged into scrolling the pages and absolutely enjoyed it.its funny and cute, my motherhood journey began 2 years ago and oh boy....so many things were absolutely about me. Made me laugh, but also think about this magical time of being a mother, about the likes and normal dislikes, about the little routines and rituals you get once you hold that little bundle of joy in your hands And you know your life has changed forever, and while afraid, and shy,and inexperienced, you still rock.
Loved it and I would definitely buy it as a gift for future parents, because this is an excellent example that besides those serious and complicated parenting books, this one belongs to the same shelf, needs to be there for any parent to pick it up and know they are doing a great job being there for their kids.
I recommend it and it deserves no less than five stars.
