It has been a while since I got this book and after reading this sort of abrasive writing style for a bit, unfortunately I don’t really have any interest in reading the book anymore. I am also now a lot more picky with the books I choose to download.

Don't Bring Your Vibrator to Rehab is an emotionally frenzied memoir that reveals the terrifying and lonely world of addiction. After almost a decade of sobriety, Pam Gaslow relapsed into a life of dependency on marijuana, which nearly destroyed her. She recounts a devastating downward spiral that shattered her at forty-five years old.

I think the author tried to use dark humour to help her write her story and experience but I think it missed the mark. At times, it felt cringy and awkward. As someone who has worked with people in recovery, I wouldn't recommend this, I appreciated the author's honest thoughts on rehab but have read better. It was a nice try/attempt, maybe needs help with the style it is written or even how it is promoted/published.

I had high hopes for this book because the cover and description were great. I found the writing a bit of a frenzy and felt like it was moving around too much.

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for a free copy of this book

I thought this book would be funny. It wasn't. The author may be going for dark humor, which I enjoy, but she misses the mark. Despite her age, she just sounds like a kid with a bad attitude.

I wasn't enjoying it but failed jokes and a bad mood aren't enough to get me to put down a book. What is enough to get me to DNF are the multiple moments of fatphobia by the author. Ridiculous. She mentioned that she had to stay skinny because no one would have sex with someone stupid and FAT. Then later, she is in disbelief that the people on "My 600-lb Life" are married. How could they be married and she be alone, she wanted to know? I didn't wait to see if there was a third instance; two is enough.

I hope this person gets over their bullshit.

The title and the cover are absolutely incredible. In the description, this memoir is described as "frenzied" and I think that's the best word to use. I found this memoir a little all over the place, a little hard to follow, but with moments that glimmered through that were hilarious. The number one thing I can say is that this memoir is honest and raw. The negative things I felt about the book are likely due to that honesty. I didn't find Pam relatable, and at times I didn't even like her all that much. I found the story meandering and at times a little slow.
There is someone out there who will love this book. There is someone out there who will be helped by this book. This book was not really for me, but I believe it is for someone!

I am sorry, I really wanted to love this book (loved the cover and the blurb) but the actual story was slow and I could not finish this book.

Don't Bring Don’t Bring your Vibrator to Rehab is a memoir written by Pam Gaslow. Pam details what it is like to seek treatment for a dependency on marijuana. Pam details the events that led her to treatment, what it is like to be in treatment. She describes the schedules, groups, and tips, such as not checking in on a weekend as there is not much to do. At times, the book was funny, and other times, sad. Although it was touched on a little in the book, I wish that she had delved deeper into the ways that addiction affected her relationships. It was an interesting read. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review. Your Vibrator to Rehab is an

The title and cover of this book are definitely eye catching but there's not much substance to the book. It's pretty shallow and cringe worthy. The parts about life in rehab were ok but I've definitely read better books about rehab and recovery.

I’m sad this book didn’t turn out better. Whilst the ins and outs of rehab are well described, there’s not much else to it, not much substance (pardon the pun here) just screams another privileged individual in rehab, nothing about whether it worked or what happened next which I feel the story needed to make it whole.

This book follows Pam on her journey through rehab. At the start of this book, I thought this was going to be very different. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the comedic side as it was very different to other types of memoirs I've read before about addiction, but I do feel the book fell a little short for me and the longer it went on, the less interest I had in the outcome.

This book was funny in parts but did seem to lose its originality as the book progressed forward but maybe that was the authors intention

The title "Don't Bring Your Vibrator to Rehab" intrigued me. The content disappointed me.

This book by Pam Gaslow would truly benefit from a sensitivity reader because at times it comes across as very obnoxious and tone-deaf to social changes, especially when it comes to language. I hoped this memoir will be entertaining, considering the author's background, but still educational. Unfortunately, it seems more self-indulgent, like a vanity project, rather than anything else. Maybe it's on brand with Pam Gaslow's comedy persona, which I am not familiar with, but it's just such a missed opportunity to talk about the topic of cannabis dependancy, which is not often discussed from a personal perspective.

A fun read but it does not always apple realistic. Nevertheless, an interesting perspective. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read this book pretty quickly as its a short read. It centres around a woman in her 40's who voluntarily enters rehab because of her dependency on cannabis and the effect it has on her personal life. I found the book doesn't really go anywhere and although there are a couple of laughs it isn't really funny enough to qualify as a comedy memoir.

Little laugh, mostly cringy.
Thanks to author, publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free, it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.

A raw, honest and humorous look at addiction and sobriety. Pam writes as if she’s telling the story to a friend, which helped draw me in. Raunchy at times, but added to the charm of the book.

Don't Bring Your Vibrator to Rehab by Pam Gaslow.

Lol why not , it would help to pass the time !
Not 100% on this book. It tells the story of her return to addictions and more often or not
the people ( men mainly ) that helped to get her there.
Told well and gives a good insight to a place you hope never to find yourself.

Raw, honest, and very raunchy. This was a fun read but some of it reads as exaggerated. There are some great comedic moments but overall I don’t see this title circulating well at my particular library.
