I just loved this book. It was so easy to get lost in and I just loved meeting these characters. I look forward to seeing what’s next from this author.

What I read of this title I did not enjoy. The characters frustrated me and I didn't connect with the writing. Ended up DNFing.

To Covet a Countess is a swoon worthy historical romance that kept me entertained from beginning to the very end! This is book two in “The Elusive Lords” series and if you enjoy Regency Romance this book will surely be a satisfying read. This romance is a slow burn with some amazing angst. I can’t wait to see what this author delivers next!

Really enjoyable read! While the plot was predictable, there were a few surprises. I loved the characters—they were spicy and confident and fun! However the writing could improve. The pacing was off on several scene, which made everything that would followed rushed and incongruous to what had just happened. That being said, I look forward to more books by this author as she continues to grow and improve. Absolutely full of potential.

I really enjoyed this one! I'm on a historical romance kick right now, so I expected to, but still. After two disappointing books, this was exactly what I needed.

I really liked all of our characters. Hawk was the perfect tormented MMC. I loved that while his problems were an issue for the fledgling relationship, they weren't a cause for a major issue. The couple communicated to each other to avoid them, which was super refreshing. Sania was just as great. I loved her for her passion and fire, and how unafraid she was. She was so strong and I loved watching her tackle every issue head on.

I will admit, this book did make me feel like an idiot. When I started it, I had no idea it was connected to Dare to Be a Duchess. By the halfway point, I finally had to check, because it was confusing the heck out of me. Low and behold, it was connected. Once I realized that, I loved the connections. It was so fun to see Lara and Wolf as an established couple living happily.

This one makes it clear that my historical romance binge will in fact be continuing. I wish it could continue with more books in this series (I want an Isha book!!!), but I guess I will just have to wait :( I'll definitely be picking up future books when they're released!

Fearing for their lives, Sania Aaryan and her sister flee India to find her cousin in London to ask for her help. Nicholas Delmore, the Earl of Hawksley, rescues the sisters first. Hawks protective instincts kick in to save them. Only Hawk has always felt he isn't strong enough to protect anyone. Loves comes quickly, but there are many obstacles for Hawk. His love for Sania will be tested more than once. Acceptance from society will be a challenge.
An interesting point of view from the perspective of an author of India.
A new author and her second book in the series. HEAT LEVEL 4
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

To Covet a Countess is in some ways an inferior book in comparison to book 1. A rather slow burn romance that lacks any real depth until the third act. However resonant the pay-off is, many readers may not be as patient.

Ever since the first episode of Bridgerton dropped on Netflix, I have been in love with historical romances. My one big complaint is the lack of diversity in the characters, so when I saw To Covet a Countess, I knew I needed it IMMEDIATELY.

See the comment section for the full book description.

This is the 2nd book in The Elusive Lords series - but you can jump in with either, I didn’t read the first and wasn’t confused.

This book is for you if you like:
❤️ a broody love interest - think Duke of Hastings
❤️ dual POV
❤️ characters with emotional intelligence
❤️ found family friend groups

I am so excited to read more of these books!!

Thank you Entangled Publishing for the review copy in exchange for a review! All thoughts are my own.

Unfortunately, the characters and the romance for this one didn't work for me. I'm sure other people have made the Bridgerton comparison, but I just finished season 2 and this didn't work as well. It was missing the passion, the depth of character and personality.

A delightful, swoon worthy read!!
.
This book just checked everything I love in historical romance, or with romance generally, it had one of the most interesting, engaging plot which made me inseparable from my kindle until I finished it, the heroine, Sania was such a sweetheart, we finally got the strong, independent, levelheaded female who isn't afraid to voice her opinions and her feelings.
.
I loved the setting and how the storm at the beginning of the book was the perfect way for them to be thrust into each other's way, and start catching feelings, and although some would say insta love is overrated, the author's storytelling and writing really made it so spectacular to read, it made complete sense for them to fall in love.
.
I was all about the book, thought it was the easiest 5 stars read, until the last 35% of the book, the author made Nicholas take some of the dumbest decisions ever made in books, I mean, I get his POV, the man was literally traumatized, but some things are just unacceptable.
.
The ending was satisfactory, albeit a little rushed, but honestly, I was just happy they got a happy ending.

Oh I loved this one and I was really not expecting to. It was so good, it really exceeded all my expectations and I went in hoping it would be good, but I really didn’t think it would be this cute. Definitely recommend if you like historical romances!

This is the second book in the series. I do not think you need to read book one to get into this. Overall, the book was just ok for me. I think I am over any and all insta-love plots. The chemistry between the characters was barely there and felt false.

So this storyline was good. I enjoyed reading about an Indian heroine. I enjoyed how the racism she faced was handled. I wasn’t a huge fan of the self loathing done by Nicholas and his subsequent failure of Sania when she needed him. I would have enjoyed more descriptive love scenes. I would have also enjoyed more of a comeuppance for the villain of the story, I don’t feel that situation was resolved definitively enough.

There are plenty of editing issues with this edition, lots of spelling and grammatical errors and some awkward sentence structure and dialogue in some places. They really took me out of the story and made it difficult for me to continue reading. It took me longer to read than I normally do. The story at times felt like a contemporary read instead of a historical one. I would consider reading more of her work in the hopes that it improves.

✨is it just a rule in romancelandia that heroes named Nicholas are heartthrob grumps?✨

If you are looking for a sweet, easy romance with wonderful undertones of historical accuracy and that’s infused with amazing representation, this is the book for you.

Tropes:
😭 emotionally scarred hero
🇮🇳 strong, south asian heroine
🗣 BANTER
🙌🏽 amazing conversation about racism and prejudice
🥵 hero catches heroine after she tries to break in
🗡 heroine holds a knife to his throat scene
😩 great grovelling

You guys already know that Dare to Be a Duchess is one of my favorite books. Sapna Bhog wove a tearjerking tale of a woman fighting against a society full of racism and prejudice while getting her HEA 😍😍 I loved this book so much.

Throughout my life, I struggled finding myself getting represented in any media. Slowly, I have begun to see women like me in romances and Sapna Bhog is one of the authors at the forefront of that. I caught myself tearing up throughout this book 🥺 Thank you Sapna, thank you so much for writing such a wonderful romance and helping me find myself in the seams of this book 😭😭

Sania’s character development and story was beautifully written. I loved watching her come grow into herself and stand up for herself 🙌🏽 Nicholas had stood out to me in the first book and I loved reading his story in this one. The scenes where they would stand up for each other? LOVED THEM. I really appreciated how Nicholas had to work to earn her trust and her heart 😍🙌🏽

I love couples in romance who have personal struggles they need to overcome and learn how to handle before they can come together, because that is how the real world works 😩🙌🏽

My only complaint was how Nicholas would get so caught up in his “woe is me,” feelings that it would slow the book and his character development down. Do not get me wrong, what he had been through in his past was horrible, and I felt very deeply for him. But a lot of his development was overshadowed by the repetitive gloomy thoughts he kept reiterating, hindering himself from getting anywhere.

There was a little miscommunication trope in here too, which I did not like that much either.

This book was so surprisingly tender and sensual, and I do not have a single problem with that.

(The little appearances from past and future characters made me squeal with joy 😩😩)

I cannot wait for the next book in this series, Sapna Bhog is an auto-buy author for me now 😍😍

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars | 🌶🌶/ 5 steam

Sania Aaryan and Isha, her sister, leave India to find their cousin Lara, the new Duchess of Wolverton. She is turned away from the house, so she decides to break in. She is caught by her cousin's husband's friend Nicholas, the Earl of Hawksley, who is instantly drawn to her.

Nicolas and Sania had great chemistry. I loved how strong she was and how she fought for their relationship. I also really liked out the book explored Sania's Indian culture. She was proud of her heritage and I liked how the author incorporated that into the story.. This was a quick and fun read.

Absolutely LOVED this one.
Sania was fierce, strong, protective, and wary. Fresh in England with her younger sister, after running away to seek shelter with her cousin she is forced to defend herself. Earl of Hawksley did not expect to be held at knife point by a woman when he stopped his friends house from being broken into....but he is not upset when he sees Sania. Nicholas takes them in until he can confirm their story is legitimate and Sania is thrown into a new and a vastly different world of the ton. As she tries to figure out her new life she is grateful she can turn to Nicholas until she can't.
The twist in this one threw me and I loved it!
This author is an auto buy for me!

To Covet a Countess is the telling of two sisters who seek refuge with their cousin in London after fleeing India for their safety. Sania Aaryan and her sister end up in the protection of the Earl of Hawksley, Nicholas Denmore. Known as Hawk amongst friends, he is a charming and attractive gentlemen, saving them from certain death. And so the star-crossed love story begins.

While waiting for their cousin to return home and hopefully accept them into her home, Sania does her best to not be an inconvenience to Hawk’s life. Her sister is young and adventurous with other plans entirely. While Sania is certain that the Earl must be anxious to get the girls out from his home, he’s become very much the opposite. A natural attraction between them quickly brews, and they both find it hard to resist.

Fitting in amongst the ton is nearly impossible.

When Sania is finally reunited with her cousin, she is disappointed by how the genteel society chooses to barely tolerate her for being half Indian. As a full Indian woman, Sania is aware that she will not be making new friends here. While the social structure of the time probably wouldn’t withstand Sania standing up for herself during a ball, I did appreciate it being written into this story.

The skeletons of the past never manage to stay hidden.
Sania obviously ran from something or someone dangerous to her and her sister. Hawk is running from something a little less obvious. His past mistakes have haunted him since childhood and ultimately hold him back from an easy love he could hold with Sania. No matter how many allies she may have found in her new life, Sania is not prepared for a shocking surprise that brings both hers and Hawk’s futures on a devastating detour.

The passion between Sania and Hawk was a little surprising considering the fictional setting of their world. I expected Hawk to have to seek passion out of Sania a little harder but she was surprisingly fiery. A woman with her own ideas for her love life, as it very well should be I’d like to add. Her boldness, strength, and independence were admirable, especially for the time. My only hang-up with Sania was her forgiveness. I think she should have made Hawk work a little harder. Overall, To Covet a Countess by Sapna Bhog was an enjoyable love story with the kind of female characters you’d want to have on your side.

I love the first two books of this series and cannot wait for more. Nicholas and Sania have a wonderful story that all readers will enjoy. This is a true take of can love conquer all.

I didn't realize that this was part of an existing series, and I did find that that hindered my enjoyment. Right off the bat, I felt like there was something I was missing, and that's when I found out this is a second book. It was still an enjoyable read, regardless, especially for historical romance fans.
