Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this book.

I found this to be a pretty enjoyable read! Good worldbuilding and interesting characters. Sometimes it felt a little slow/flat but would make up for it in the next scene. I will be keeping my eye out for more!

I loved this book. I rarely read fantasy but this one is much easier to get involved and invested in than others heavier ones. The characters are wonderful drawn and the story is suspenseful at times with great twists overall.
Must read story for sure.
Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

A thrilling and magical story

Every harvest moon, one person is taken away from Raina's village by the Witch Collector and brought to serve the Frost King forever. Raina has never been taken, but today, she has a plan. Her only goal is to kill the King and the Collector to avenge her sister, taken years go. But nothing happens as planned and she finds herself accompanying the Collector on his quest. And he's not what she expected...

This book is the perfect fantasy story. There is tension, magic, an unexpected journey and strong characters. I loved all the secrets surrounding Alexus and who he really was, what drove him to do what he did. It was also quite fun to follow Raina's reaction to learning to know the man she's hated for years but found herself tied to. The world was quite interesting, full of magic and legends and secrets that I loved to uncover. I feel like it has a lot of potential and can't wait to know even more in the sequel. The story was fast-paced and thrilling, keeping me on my toes. I never knew who to trust, who to believe, and it was very exciting. The sexual tension was on point and heart-warming. The romance developped nicely and I liked how the characters felt about each other. The plot twists had me gasping in surprise and it was a great rush of adrenaline every time. I loved the action, the magic, the rumors and the betrayals. Everything was quite enthralling and I'm very happy to have discovered this author, whose writing I absolutely adored. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series because I haven't had enough of this world!

I highly recommend for fans of adult fantasy!

This book was fine. I feel like I get lost in all the fantasy romance novels in recent years and maybe its not that I dont enjoy the books so much as I need a break from the genre but I never connected with any of these characters and quickly lost interested in the plot and I had I not been given this to review honestly I would have DNFed.

So, after reading the description of this book I was immediately excited and wanted to read it. Wow! I loved it! What an incredible world, in a very Witcher style, full of magic, enchanting, fantasy romance and threads of love, loss, and healing. Its does have some graphic scenes of violence in some of the battles and also has a couple steamy love scenes in it. But I just loved it! I can't wait for the next.

I’m so torn on this. On one hand, it was written beautifully and the prose was lyrical and created an eerie and tense atmosphere.
However, I felt like the world wasn’t as vivid and real as it could have been which sadly meant I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I could have.
The idea was brilliant though and the author executed it well. I was fascinated by the concept of the witch collector and was interested enough to want to read until the end. It just ended up being a bit slow and flat for my liking and I was jolted out the story often trying to immerse myself into the world.
Overall, it was okay, and I am intrigued enough to continue with the series! Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and author for the chance to read and review this book.

This book was absolutely fantastic. I was hooked from the first page. Charissa Weaks did a beautiful job of world building and making her characters come to life. I could not put it down. If I could rate more than five stars I would. I cannot wait to read more of her works.

From the very beginning the author gives
you a very clear description of this world.
As the story unfolds you get to learn more
about the magic, witches, and the gods.
I loved the unique take on magic, definitely very
different. I also loved how these are not your typical
witches. Amazing storytelling, and great world building.
The chemistry between Alexus and Raina is off the
charts. I highly enjoyed how some the side characters
were given importance, especially for the main characters
development. Can't wait for book two.

The characters were well developed and each had a strong sense of purpose. I’ve always been wary of multiple POVs because of the confusion and discordance it can bring if not done well. But Weaks pulls off writing in multiple perspectives easily. Each character is well defined and suits their respective roles well. They’re also growing within and outside the spheres of their personalities and watching that unfold was lovely. Some of the hardest things to get across as an author is an inherent connection between people who’ve just met and a tangible connection between people who’ve had a past together. It’s a very hard style to write and I do think Weaks easily depicted a believable and real-feeling relationship between characters. Definitely a five star read for and a highly recommended book from me!

Beguiling and exciting read - a blind witch with magical powers is cast adrift after her family and village is destroyed - but finds that all her preconceptions are wrong. What was lost now returns to her, the villain becomes a hero and the evil fae king is not at all what she believed him to be. This story drew me in from the first page and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This book left me completely breathless in the best sort of way. Honestly, I don't feel like any review I can type can accurately portray just how incredible this story is and how brilliant Charissa Weaks is. Her writing is sumptuous and vivid, building a stunning world for the reader to escape to. The Witch Collector is a tale of love, magic, fire, and ice, filled with twists and turns that the reader will NEVER see coming. I fell in love with Raina and Alexus and adored their relationship--I loved being able to watch them go from enemies to lovers. Cheering for them is one of my new favorite hobbies now. Another thing I loved about this story was the amazing side characters--I'm looking at you Colden, Helena, and Rhonin. I'm so ready for book 2 and to hopefully meet Fia! All the stars for this beautifully written read! I cannot recommend it enough. It is perfect for fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout and Sarah J. Maas--trust me, you will not be disappointed.

I’ve been reading a lot of books about witches lately, and honestly, I’m not disappointed. Every single one has been addictive, this one included.

Raina Bloodgood does not like the Frost King or his Witch Collector after they took her sister eight years ago. After the Eastlanders destroy her village on Collecting Day, she has no choice but to join forces with the Witch Collector to help save her sister and their country. The Witch Collector is not at all what she expects; his real name is Alexus Thibault and Raina is a lot more attracted to him than she would have thought. Alexus and Raina have to journey through some enchanted woods to reach the castle and get to the king before the Eastlanders and the Prince of the East get there first.

‘I was supposed to kidnap him, not kiss him. Not want him so badly I can barely breathe.’

The beginning of The Witch Collector was a little slow for me, but it picked up pace relatively quickly after the first 10%. Raina has always wanted to leave her village and get her revenge. Her and her boyfriend, Finn, break up because he doesn’t want to leave his family or life behind, however, there seems to be some unfinished business and its clear there are still remaining feelings. After the attack, Raina believes Finn and his sister Helena, her best friend, to be dead and she leaves with Alexus. The tension between those two characters was insane and from both their perspectives I could tell how much they were intrigued by one another.

‘Listen to your misery. Listen to your rage. If you’re angry, let it boil. If you’re heartbroken, let your heart shatter. And if you hate, hate with the fire of a thousand suns.’

Throughout this book, Raina battles with her growing feelings for Alexus, the man who she planned to kidnap and kill. This is kind of an enemies-to-lovers romance, but it almost becomes a friends/people-who-tolerate-each-other-to lovers. Nevertheless, i really enjoyed the development of their relationship as they got closer and secrets are revealed. There is a lot more at stake than Raina realises, but as the story progresses, she understands she must trust Alexus if she wants to help her sister.

The magic system is really interesting and I’m hoping to learn more in the next book. Raina’s witch marks have been hidden along with her power, so no one, not even her, realise the extent of her power. But after the attack, this all changed and Alexus teaches her a few things, which led to some of my favourite scenes between these two characters. Raina was born mute, and communicates with sign language. When the Witch Collector first arrives and he signs back to her, she is in shock, wondering how he knows her language. This helps them establish a small amount of trust before they journey together.

‘If my life is cut short, I will die happy because I had this time with you. But I will fight for more. I will fight for Colden. And I will fight for us.’

There is so much more I could say about this book, but I think they will be too spoilery! I really enjoyed this story and how old legends wove into the present storyline. These characters were very intriguing and I can’t wait to see more of them in the sequel. This book is an adult/new adult fantasy romance, and if you love both those, then this is the book for you!

A well done novel with a friends to lovers romance troupe which is always a huge plus. The writing was excellent and this will make for a fantastic series for sure! Love that a character who uses sign language was included. You don’t see that enough!
