I would like to say thank you to the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this copy as an advanced read a copy and I’d like to say thank you for net galley for allowing me to use their website to gain access to free books and give feedback to authors to hopefully watch them bloom and grow.

I thought this book was cool and creepy and it progressed really well I thought of the main characters were understandable there was progression from the start of the book to the end of the book with the characters and the choices I thought this was really good and I also have never read from this author before so I thought I would give her a try and I think I’m going to go read some of her other box because I think that this is impeccable

This book captured my attention more than I thought it would. While I found the mythology confusing (even after rereading parts numerous times) the world building was solid and the characters interesting. I’m very interested to see if there will be more character development in the next two books. Definitely worth a read, well written and a gripping story.

Thank you NetGalley for gifting this incredible ebook to review. I was drawn to the story for the fantasy realm provided. I loved this book, it gave me everything I required in a good story. Romance, magic, battles, suspense, and love Raina had for her family. Alexus and Raina’s story I hope will continue to unfold in future stories. I will be anxiously awaiting the second book in this series.

Wow!!

I have literally read this book in less than a day. The Witch Collector just sucked me in and I HAD to find out what would happen. My only issue is that it's a trilogy and I now have to wait for the second two books.

Raina is a fantastic protagonist. The world she lives in has a lot going on and understanding the gods and their stories can be hard when your speed reading but I think I got it all (if not I'll definitely get it when I read it a second time before book 2 is released).

I love that sign language is under the spotlight, I work with sign, and know its significance on real life for so many people, but have never read a book where it is such an important part of the narrative.

I have really enjoyed reading this book and I will be eagerly awaiting the next and sharing my review of this one.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher & the author for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

The Witch Collector visits Raina’s village once a year and takes a Witch Walker to join the guard of the Frost King - never to be seen again. Eight year after Raina’s sister was taken, she devises a plan to take revenge on both the King and the Witch Collector. We soon learn that the Frost King is not the biggest threat, and Raina must work alongside the Witch Collector to find her way to her sister and stop their lands falling into enemy hands.

This is going to be a book that I rave about and recommend to everyone moving forward - chock full of all my favourite tropes! Enemies to lovers? Check. Magic? Check. Ancient Gods & immortals? Check. Female MC who wants to save her people? Check. The last time I was this excited about the first book in a new series was From Blood and Ash, which quickly became one of my all-time favourite book worlds.

4.5*+
I loved this book.
Thank you netgalley and author/publisher for this e arc.
One of my favorite reads with a witches this year.

Raina Bloodgood has one desire: kill the Frost King and the Witch Collector who stole her sister.
....But as the lines between good and evil blur, and Raina has more to lose than she imagined. What is she to do when the Witch Collector is no longer the villain who stole her sister, but the hero who’s stealing her heart?

This is a book about magic, witches, enemies to lovers; and I highly recommend it to any fantasy lovers out there. You won't be disappointed. I will be per-ordering this one. Can't wait or book 2. I will be following Charissa Weaks!

Good start to a new series.
Nice pacing and likeable and well crafted characters, makes you want to follow up and get another instalment.
Perfect for young adults or young at heart.

I don't really know what to think of this book.
I was waiting for a huge cliffhanger at the end but nothing happened. I must say I saw a review that had set my expectations way too high so obviously I was disappointed NEVERTHELESS the plot was interesting. It was a bit hard to understand at first, a lot of informations were shared and it was confusing but it was useful information.
The characters are cute, I liked the fact that the main character is mute and the whole sign language use, it was very unique. The love interest was really interesting, his story sounds really sad but it was not entirely covered in this book I believe which makes me excited for the second book.
The romance was cool as well, it's a slowburn enemies to lovers and it was quite nice though maybe it was a bit too quick for the characters to really like each other. Also the smut was great (it's important).
Overall it's still a nice reading but I was waiting for something more like a really "wtf how did I miss this" moment.

An absolutely beautiful, lush world with equally stunning characters and a plot that will have you guessing until the end.

I am really at a loss for words when it comes to this story. It's one of the most well thought out, interesting, and completely unique concepts I've ever read about. This history of the world is a little overwhelming for me but not in a bad way. I was completely absorbed by this book trying to understand it all, to learn the hidden history of a world laced with beautifully cruel magic and unexpected villains.

The romance was perfect! Slow enough to be realistic, yet not glacial to make me bored. I really love Raina and Alexus. I love how Alexus is such a soft yet incredibly strong personality, a perfect match for Raina who is delicate in appearance yet fierce to the core.

This was one of my favorite books of the year, and I cannot wait for the next installment!

I'm so incredibly grateful to NetGalley and City Owl Press for the opportunity to read this ARC. I heard a lot about this book already, and I was ready to dive into it the moment I got my hands on it.

If I want to be honest, the first half didn't really gripped my attention, and just when I was ready to shelf it on as another basic fantasy romance, a certain scene came up and there was no turning back from there. For me, the second half was a 1000 times more interesting, like the characters got another kick-start mid-book and both their personalities and goals transformed into something that got me like "NOW, we are talking".

Would I call it enemies-to-lovers? I guess, in a strict sense, it is, but it definitely lacked the tension that normally comes with that specific trope. Raina and Alexus already have history and it shows in their relationship. And Raina is really bad with keeping to her grudges, which isn't necessarily bad, but it did leave me feel a little insta lovey at times.

Other than this, surprisingly, I loved all three main characters for very different reasons.

I'm happy Raina isn't a teenage heroine aged up for certain purposes, so she doesn't act overly naive. She's young and sometimes still stupid but not in an annoying way. I enjoyed her stubbornness and rebelling.

Alexus, oh boy. He was NOT what I expected for him to be, he was both better and worse. Considering he's supposed to be a rather capable person, he spends the majority of his time stumbling trough this story, getting stabbed and otherwise hurt. Which I think is a little against his whole purpose. I loved his personality though, he's such a human-sized teddy bear!

And then the Prince of the East... I loved him as the villain. I feel like I'm still not 100% clear about his intentions or the whys but his interactions with Raina are *chef kiss* he's pushing her boundaries the way Alexus can't and I appreciate that development.

All in all, it's one of the best books I've read this year. The plot keeps you hooked and I can't wait to see where the next book will take these characters.

I always love discovering new series, because it means that there is still more to come. And after reading The Witch Collector I want more! I was hooked from the first page. It’s a slow burn story and normally I like stories a bit more fast paced, but here i didn’t mind. Because the characters and the world they live in are intriguing enough. I highly recommend this one if you’re a fan of enemies-to-lovers romances, witches and magic!

I got this arc in exchange for an honest review.

~ There is no love without fear~

I absolutely LOVED this book. Amazing world building and magic system, however I think there will be more of it in the next books, as I have so many questions still about everything. I can't wait to read the next one by the way.

I am a sucker for enemies to lovers trope so this was definitely a snack of a read for me! The character developments are slow but steady. An absolute treat of the spice in the end of the book, really nicely done and this is personal note to the author from me - Please give more of that spice in the next books ;).

Definitely for the lovers of FBAA!

This is a honest review in exchange for the chance to read this ARC

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book.
I really enjoyed this! With fantasy and magic, there are a lot of similar ideas; it's impossible to be utterly unique with so many stories out there, but this one will stick with me. I think with how action packed it was, it was really hard to put down, and the romantic tension was done well too. The side characters were interesting to read about as well and I think in general, the pacing of the book was what made it so easy to read.
I would like to know more about the magick and how it all works, and the gods themselves etc. but I'm hoping that'll be explored more later. Ill definitely be looking out for the next books in the series. Hoping they come out soon!

One of my favourite types of books are witch books, I had seen this being spoke about on Insta so was really pleased when I saw ot in Netgalley. I absolutely devoured this book, I would have done it in ine sitting if I hadn't started it so late!. The writing was fast paced and built a world and magic system that was easy to understand. I am invested in the characters and really want to know what happens to them. There are some of the same troupes that are in a lot of books like this, but, in my opinion, it doesn't take away from the story being told. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Based on other reviews I'm clearly in the minority, but this didn't work for me. Nothing against the story, it was a solid fantasy romance in terms of worldbuilding, characters, etc. I even found the system of murdered gods to be interesting. What didn't work for me was the writing. This was riddled with I do dumps and it was like the POV characters were explaining the story, rather than living it.

Let me start by saying I really enjoyed this book! I did think that the writing was a little clunky in places with too many descriptive words or the opposite end of the spectrum (short, stocky, blunt sentences). As the book built the plot though, I thoroughly enjoyed the story.

If you're a fan of slow burn, enemies to lovers, or Jennifer Armentrout you'll like this book. While the romance of the story was a little predictable, the main conflict and the world building were well done. I loved reading about the witch marks and what they meant, though I thought there could have been more development on the actual magic system. I also have a few questions about the witch walkers, it seems like they can be either sex, but only women are mentioned. This is just felt like it could have been more explicitly spelled out and was a little confusing to me. In the end it doesn't really impact the story, it's just a question I have.

I'm excited to see how this story develops and will definitely be purchasing the other two books in the series when they are released.

I am speechless… I DEVOURED this book and I desperately need book 2

The hero was just *chef’s kiss*

The love interest is perfection, imagine Geralt crossed with Aragorn *swoon*

I am contemplating rereading this now just to make sure I didn’t miss anything

Thank you City Owl Press for providing me with an eARC!
Extremely thankful!
1. This cover is just stunning!
2. I can't say how excited I was when I seen this beauty sitting on my shelf! 😘

The Witch Collector is an absolute must read!
This book pulls you in and does not let you to till you've reached the end of its amazing end!
I was hooked on the plot and the characters almost immediately, but that last 35% was insanely binge-able.
This book was a whirlwind of adventure, action, slow burn, amazing characters and enemies-to-lovers with some of the coolest worldbuilding.
The author has this lush, vivid prose.
Alexus and Raina are probably my most favorite characters!
This story was very well written, an excellent read!
I'm super excited to see where this story goes from here!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Thank you again City Owl Press, NetGalley and Author for this spectacular novel!
I will post my review closer to pub date!

I did not expect much when I stated to read this book, however being pulled into this magical world with so many details and great characters and beings was an amazing experience. This book is the first book in a series and I cannot wait to get my hands on the other books!

The tension between Raina and the ML was amazingly portrayed and I was so disappointed once but happy at a different time (without spoiling anything, you will understand when you get to it) and the 18+ is well deserved because of all the themes this book uses.

Thank you @netgalley and the author for giving me this ARC
