Another great thriller by D. J. Palmer! Michael takes his family to New York City for a vacation While he runs out to grab pizza, his family disappears! Where is his family? Why did they leave? This is a fast paced thriller that you will read in one day because you need answers!!! So many secrets and twists you will not see coming! I received an advanced readers copy and all opinions are my own.

So D.J. Palmer is hit or miss with me. This one was such a miss. I think the issue was not only the three points of view (showing Michael Hart and then Natalie Hart before and then in the present) just didn't work. I also rolled my eyes at how things got resolved. There's no real DUN DUN DUN for me. I just guessed at one of the plot points early on and was so disappointed to be right. I didn't care for Michael and I got real tired of Natalie too. The only reason why I gave this 2 stars honestly was that it was interesting to see how hard it really is for anyone to just "disappear" in this country. And I liked the resolution of one of the mysteries, kind of. I just wish the insomnia plot point actually had been leaned into more than it was. That was the main reason why I selected this book since I suffer from it and thought it interesting to read about a woman who hasn't slept who starts to hallucinate things. I thought this be more of a what is really real type of book and it was not. I felt things got overly explained as I read the book.
"My Wife is Missing" follows married couple Michael and Natalie Hart. The two of them and their two children go to New York City for a vacation. Michael and Natalie have been rocky for months and Michael hopes this vacation gets them back to where they were. After returning to the hotel room with a pizza, Michael realizes that his wife and children are gone. Not only that, their suitcases are missing too. Michael initially hopes that his family has moved rooms, but after bringing in hotel security and the local police it's apparent that Natalie has fled the hotel with their children. And the police won't become involved since legally Natalie is allowed to take their children. The book seesaws back and forth between Michael searching for Natalie and getting assistance from a New York City detective to Natalie on the run with the kids and then Natalie before she was on the run and what led her to start to distrust Michael.
Michael I didn't really care for. Palmer writes him inconsistently. On one hand we are supposed to believe he loves his wife and wants to find her but there's some big dark secret that he's hiding (of course). Natalie acts irrationally through most of the book and I just shook my head. I can't say more than that. Things wrap up way too neatly I thought.
The writing was just okay. I just once again didn't buy all of the ins/outs that we get and the look at certain character's past.
The flow was pretty bad. I think it would have made more sense to follow Michael in the present and Natalie in the past and then do a whole "linking" up so to speak for that final act. The book dragged so badly.
The ending wraps up every plot point so there's no last mystery that is left unsolved. I wish that Palmer had went a different way with things though. I am not all thrillers should have some random twists, but this one just kind of meandered along and threw stuff at you as you read it. It just didn't feel realistic as I read along.

When Michel comes back to the hotel room after getting pizza, he finds his wife and children are missing. He is willing to get them back no matter what, to hide his secrets.
What I enjoyed the most about this book is the multiple point of views because it allowed the reader to get the full picture of what is going on in pieces through the eyes of all the characters. It was an entertaining story for the most part. The problem with the book is that it is mostly just trying to throw the reader off which normal great but in this case, it did not come naturally to the book. I was also able to see the twist coming. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for a chance to read this book.

My Wife Is Missing was my first read by D.J. Palmer and certainly won't be my last! I really enjoyed the alternating points of view in this story. I personally felt like the story dragged a bit in the middle, but the end picked up and gave me whiplash! There are so many missing person thriller and suspense reads, that it can be hard to set the books apart from one another. Palmer threw in the perfect amount of twists to make this one memorable.

DJ Palmer does it again! This time we meet Michael & Natalie. They seem to be a happy couple with two children. Suspicions start to rise, Natalie begins suffering from insomnia and a local woman is found dead. Then Natalie disappears with the kids. Michael’s trek to find them reveals some hidden secrets, and calls into question how much you really know and trust someone. Buckle up, you’re in for a ride! Thanks NetGalley & St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

If you’ve never read a D.J. Palmer book, I highly recommend you do. This is the 4th book of his that I’ve read and My Wife Is Missing which is set to release on May 10, 2022, I believe is his best work yet! I know it’s definitely my favorite. It’s the story of Michael and Natalie Hart, a married couple who are having problems. Michael is keeping secrets, big secrets from his past and Natalie is worried that Michael is simply having an affair. This worry is causing her to have insomnia which in turn causes her to not function quite right. Natalie believes Michael is having an affair with someone from her work and she thinks she knows who it is. This story has many twists and turns and is told in different timeframes. The more you read the more you want to keep reading, just to try and figure out what exactly is the truth and what is really going on. It’s a very clever storyline, it kept me feeling on the edge of my seat and one I absolutely could not predict the ending to. Great work D.J.! I loved this book and it’s one I recommend other thriller lovers to read. His books just keep getting better and better! I’d like to thank D.J. Palmer for writing such a great story, Danielle Prielipp, Assistant Director of Marketing at St. Martin’s Publishing Group for the invite, NetGalley for the e-arc and Trade Marketing @ St. Martin’s Press for the physical copy to read, review and enjoy. This is a great read and I’m giving it a 5 star rating!

Micheal’s wife and kids go missing from their hotel room in NYC while he’s out picking up pizza. Hotel security shows them getting into an Uber on their own accord. Why did they run? And why did they leave Michael behind?
There are very few books where I am just left speechless after I read it. This book was one of them. It was so , so good. The story was unbelievable (in such an amazing way). The twists and turns were such a rollercoaster. And the ending… O.M.G. Blew me away. I don’t want to give away anything. You just need to read this book!!!!
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

WHAT A RIDE! DA Palmer has done it again! This fast paced psychological thriller had me at the edge of my seat (and awake at night to read further) after Natalie (the wife) and the children were gone from the hotel. The author developed this story through unreliable narrators and expertly wove together their back stories with present day events. I loved getting in on their secrets and the way DA Palmer developed these very realistic characters.
I was sure that I figured out who did it but I was so wrong...and the true murderer was so tightly sketched that I never could have put it together. The ending felt good and was appropriate closure for the story.
Except for 2 issues that I had with the book -1) the night visitor at the farmhouse, which I didn't think was adequately explained; and 2) how the NY detective could pursue this case to the extent that he did and spend as much time as he did away from his job - this is definitely a 5* must read!
I am thankful to NetGalley and St Martin Press for sending me an advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I loved this one . Palmer is a master at plot and timing. The story is well paced and propulsive and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Thanks for letting me review this book to the publisher

Michael had just run out to pick up pizza for their first night on their New York City vacation when he comes back to an empty hotel room. His wife, and their two kids are gone. Michael is distraught and will do whatever it takes to find them…
DJ Palmer has quickly become an auto buy author for me. I don’t really want to say too much in this review because I don’t want to give anything away but I could not put this book down. I needed to know more about why Natalie ran, and what Michael was hiding. I went into this book blind (and wondering why the publisher sent me a teddy bear with it) and I highly encourage you to do the same!

A fantastic author who writes excellent suspense, D. J. Palmer’s newest novel is My Wife Is Missing. The title tells us that this will be from the POV of the husband and his wife is, indeed, missing. And what better place to set such a story than New York City? It would be so easy to just walk out of a hotel and blend in.
Imagine being on a trip with your family, you run out to grab dinner, and when you return your family is gone without a trace. That’s exactly what happens to Michael! We go from present-day to flashing back in time so we can learn the family dynamic and what’s really going on.
There are so many twists and turns that you won’t see coming. I love nothing more than a novel where I cannot figure out how it will end!
A family vacation turns into a nightmare for Michael Hart when he discovers his wife and two children have disappeared from their New York City hotel room. Horrified, he fears they’ve been kidnapped. Michael’s frantic search to find them takes a shocking turn when he discovers that his wife, Natalie, appears to have left quite willingly, taking their children with her. The police want to know why, and so does Michael. But there may be a reason why Natalie ran, something Michael can’t tell the police—the truth about his past. While untangling his deceptions might be the key to locating Natalie, Michael knows it could also be his undoing. To find his wife, he must now turn to the one person capable of exposing all that he’s been hiding. Natalie thinks she has Michael all figured out and has hatched a plan to escape from him permanently.
One detail, though, threatens to derail her efforts: sleep—or more accurately, the lack of it. Since the moment the shocking revelations about her husband came to light, Natalie’s insomnia has worsened to the point that she now suffers from delusions. Are her fears about Michael valid—or a symptom of her condition? With her children’s lives at risk, the stakes for Natalie could not be higher. On her own, running low on energy and resources, avoiding increasingly close calls with Michael—who is on the hunt and closing in fast—Natalie needs someone to turn to for help. But who can she trust when she can’t even trust herself?
You have to read this when it comes out on May 10!

4 stars....
I enjoy this author's books. Fast, propulsive, and gripping, My Wife is Missing, was no different. This starts off with a heart pounding bang, as the family is in NYC for vacation, when suddenly the husband returns to the hotel room to find his wife and children gone…with zero information. This takes off quickly as he spirals to play detective to find them. The pace doesn’t really let up at all, and this reads rather quickly. The overall story had a couple of twists, but I also felt as though I’ve read this plot before. I didn’t find anything too shocking of unexpected.
A true thriller, that WILL keep you on the edge of your seat.
Thank you @stmartinspress & netgalley – out 5/10!

If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers, D.J. Palmer won’t disappoint!
MY WIFE IS MISSING pulled me in from the first page. Full of twists and turns, you won’t be able to put this book down. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
A huge thank you to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for my ARC.

This was a great domestic thriller. I loved the dual povs from the husband and wife. I never knew which to believe or trust. I had no idea how it was going to end. I really enjoyed this book!
Many thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the digital arc.

What could be better than a mystery with an unreliable narrator? Two unreliable narrators! On the surface Natalie and Michael seem like a normal suburban couple with jobs, two kids, a nice home and even a nanny. But Natalie has been having problems with insomnia. Her sleeplessness is impacting their sex life, as well as making her irritable and suspicious. Meanwhile, Michael does indeed to be hiding something. Is he having an affair? Is it something much worse?
When the family go on a vacation to NYC, Natalie hatches a plan to escape Michael with the kids. At first, Michael thinks they are kidnapped, but the truth is even more unnerving – she left on purpose. Michael needs to find them, but in doing so, he may put past secrets that will impact his loved ones.
Assumptions, logic, evidence are all entwined as both Natalie and Michael seek to keep their children and themselves safe. The pace of this novel accelerates towards an unexpected conclusion. Keep reading! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing this title.

I have enjoyed all of D.J. Palmer’s books. I appreciate that each of the books are totally different than the ones before. However, this one was not my favorite. I felt that the story dragged in places, and was too rushed in others. It did not hold my interest until the last quarter of the book.

My Wife is Missing is D.J. Palmer's fourth book, and the third that I've read. I've seen some amazing reviews for this one, so I was excited to pick it up. Unfortunately, it didn't really live up to my expectations. It started off strong and was fast-paced and twisty, but I never felt connected to the story and I hated all of the characters. It wasn't bad, just not great. 🤷🏼♀️

Quick synopsis:
Natalie is on the run with her children after she discovers her husband is having an affair and most likely killed his lover. Natalie hasn't been sleeping and is experiencing delusions and paranoia from her insomnia. When Michael realizes his family is missing, he goes on a wild journey with a detective to find them. Did Michael really kill his mistress? Or is Natalie imagining things?
My favorite by Palmer is The New Husband and I would recommend that one.
Thanks to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for the copy! This one comes out May 10th. ❤

I read one other book by this author and loved it. This one did not disappoint. I think it was well written. I genuinely cared about all the characters. I liked how the twists were something some may seem coming and I don't think others will. I have read a lot of thrillers so I guessed some but not all. This was a solid book. If you like thrillers and want something that's a little different check this one out.

Another winner from Mr Palmer!
Natalie and Michael's marriage is on the rocks. Natalie, who is convinced her husband is cheating, suffers from insomnia and has cognitive problems as a result. Michael blames her condition on why she's so distant and cold, rejecting his advances and his attempts to get close. With the hopes of fixing some of their problems, they decide to take their two kids on a little trip to New York. When Michael gets back to their hotel after going out to pick up a pizza, Natalie and the kids are gone with only their young sons irreplaceable teddy bear which Michael finds in the hallway outside their room left behind. Where could they have gone? Were they taken by force or is Natalie taking the kids and running from a dangerous Michael? This sets off a chain of events that leads to a nail biting, suspenseful journey in search of answers and explanations. As it turns out, Michael has a past he wants to keep secret..
This is a gripping, well written story that I couldn't put down. Told from both a past/present and a he/she narrative it moves along quickly as the story unfolds. For much of the book I found both characters to be unreliable which made me want to know the answers that much more. The way the plot is laid out led me to go back and forth on who I wanted to believe or what I thought happened in the past that led to the disappearance of Natalie and the kids. I was surprised by the reveal and satisfying conclusion, I didn't see it coming which I love in a thriller. If you're a fan of the authors previous titles you won't want to miss this one. If you're unfamiliar with his work, this is a great place to start.

Loved this book. I've read many of this author's books. I was very happy to get an advanced copy and this is my honest review. It is a great thriller with twists and turns. I couldn't stop reading!
