Natalie always wanted to take her children to New York City to see the sights and sounds of the Big Apple.

Since that was her plan, why did she leave not even two hours after arriving and without her husband?

The chapters alternate between Natalie and Michael telling of their lives before Natalie left and present day.

We follow Natalie as she runs, and we follow Michael as he searches for her.

Her husband wasn’t alone in his search, though. He actually had a New York City Policeman helping him which gave him pause as to why he would leave his jurisdiction and follow Michael around the country in search of his wife when the policeman didn't want anything to do with him in New York when he reported his wife was missing.

Secrets come out but, you just know everything isn’t being told.

That is why Mr. Palmer’s storytelling talent keeps you glued to the pages.

Thriller fans and fans of Mr. Palmer will again be treated to another of his clever, tense, difficult-to-put-down reads. 4/5

Wow just wow! Told in two timelines - 3 months earlier and present day by Natalie. Natalie and Michael Hart married for 19 years with two kids, Addie and Bryce, are vacationing in NYC. Michael leaves the hotel to pick up pizza upon his return Natalie and the kids are gone. Michael is at a lost, but soon his past catches up! Natalie had planned this escape when she discovers Michael’s infidelity, which then led to more lies. This is a fast paced, twisty, entertaining read! Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for a gifted copy.

Michael Hart was just beginning a family vacation in the Big Apple, when returning from a pizza run, he discovers his wife and two children missing. The only clue he has is a discarded teddy bear in the hallway of their hotel. Believing the worst, Michael contacts the NYPD for help. When it is revealed that his wife, Natalie, seemingly left on purpose, Michael begins a desperate search for his family trying to follow the trails and clues as to why and how Natalie left with Addie and Bryce. Besides the obvious issues, Michael’s past may just unravel enough to put him under suspicion by law enforcement, family, and friends. Someone with official resources offers to help Michael; however, it maybe his eventual undoing.

Natalie believes her husband capable of horrific deeds so she hatches a complicated plan to flee with her children. Besides the trauma of some discoveries about her Michael behavior, Natalie has been suffering from insomnia causing her to be not only a danger to herself, but her children while she is on the run. Sleep deprivation is used as torture for a reason; Natalie has to question her own reality because she sees is not always there.

Told in tandem of dual POV’s of then and now, Michael and Natalie’s story has so many red herrings they could fill a boat. The complex twists, turns, and gradual reveals will keep readers guessing until the end trying to figure out exactly what happened, and who is the guilty party. The truth will out but in a dark and difficult manner. D.J. Palmer once again has crafted a fine psychological thriller being very adept at keeping readers on a roller coaster thrill ride.

This is a story with many twists and tales. It's a battle of the wife and husband, what is wrong, what is going on. An easy story to follow but a few too many twists at the end. Thank you @Netgalley@StMartinsPress@MyWifeIsMissing

This story is told from 2 viewpoints, Natalie and her husband Michael. It goes back and forth from the present to the past. Natalie is on the run from Michael with their 2 children. She is convinced he is a dangerous man who has murdered 2 people. This story is definitely a page turner, hard to put down. The end of the story has so many twists that come out of nowhere. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I wasn't sure what i was getting in to when starting this one, since it's by an author I hadn't read before and I generally don't read many non-historical mysteries, but from the first chapter, I was hooked. The story was well written and really grabbed me - it was suspenseful without being cheesy and over the top, like so many books I've read in the past.

My one criticism and the only thing keeping it from being given another star is some of the characters felt flat, leading to their later actions just not being very believable and the ending feeling overly rushed.

Michael’s wife is missing. Where did she go? Why did she leave? Why did she take the kids? WTH? This novel is full of twist and turns that will leave you on the edge of your seat wondering what the heck is actually going on.
Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the eARC.

This was an engrossing and twisty tale that was definitely worth the read. Natalie and her husband Michael have taken their two children to New York City for a vacation to try to fix the tension in their relationship. But Natalie and the kids go missing and while Michael initially believes it to be a kidnapping the video surveillance is pretty clear she went willingly.. Michael reporters them as missing and tells anyone who will listen that his wife hasn’t been sleeping and could be a risk to herself or the children. The story alternates between Michael and Natalie’s perspectives and bounces between Natalie’s present and before she ran painting the picture of why she took off. The characters were interesting although I found something off about Michael’s character that kept him from seeming fully believable.

The marriage is on the rocks. Natalie is certain Michael is cheating on her even though he vehemently denies the allegation. She suggests a family getaway to the city. Maybe that will take everyone’s mind off the troubles.

The family vacation quickly turns into a nightmare for Michael when he discovers his wife and two children have disappeared from their New York City hotel room. Horrified, he fears they’ve been kidnapped. But wait the only belongings In the room now are his things. Kidnappers don’t pack suitcases when kidnapping three people. Michael’s frantic search to find them takes a shocking turn when he sees the security footage and discovers that his wife, Natalie, appears to have left quite willingly, taking their children with her. The police want to know why, and so does Michael. There must be a reason why Natalie ran. We soon learn Michael has been withholding the truth about his past. While untangling his deceptions might be the key to locating Natalie, Michael knows it could also be his undoing. Natalie thinks she has Michael all figured out and has hatched a plan to escape from him permanently. One detail, though, threatens to derail her efforts: she suffers with chronic insomnia. Since the moment the shocking revelations about her husband came to light, Natalie’s insomnia has worsened to the point that she now suffers from delusions. Are her fears about Michael valid, or a result of her condition?

This is a steady paced suspenseful novel with enough twists to keep the pages turning.

The story splits into two timelines and perspectives. The reader gets the past perspective from Natalie's point of view only. The other perspectives leave the reader constantly questioning whto trust. Maybe no one!

From the first few pages, author D. J. Palmer has the reader on a rollercoaster ride in My Wife is Missing. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough, but now that I've finished the story I'm disappointed to leave these great characters behind. As always, Palmer delivers a great plot with surprises thrown into it. I want to thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an early copy to review.

i very much enjoyed this book. its about a young family of four, a husband, wife and two children getting ready for a road trip to New York city for a few days. The story begins with their arrival in the city and the kids, especially, are starving and like most kids they want to eat five minutes ago. Rather than wait for delivery, dad, Michael, goes to pick it up. when he returns to the hotel, he discovers that his family is no where to be found, all of their luggage is gone and the only remainder is Bryce's teddy bear which Michael found in the hall when he approached the room with the pizza. Michael is totally confused because his luggage remains in the room. He searches the entire hotel and can't find them. He does what any concerned husband would do in the same situation, he goes to the general manager and asks questions. Michael is particularly worried because his wife Natalie hasn't been sleeping well and has been not herself recently. What follows is the chase to find Natalie, Addy, his asthmatic daughter and his younger son, Bryce.

if you love a good mystery, this is a good one. Michael. reported the family missing to the New York Police and he returned home to start his search. there are so many twists and turns in this cleverly written book. Just when you're sure you've discovered all, Palmer throws in another twist. Loved it!

I'd definitely recommend this book.

Michael and Natalie's marriage has been on the rocks for a while now. Natalie is convinced Michael is having an affair even though he vehemently denies it. But Michael's denials only agitate Natalie, and now she can't sleep. Natalie's insomnia quickly develops and starts affecting her memory, which frightens her two children, Addie and Bryce. To try to reconnect as a couple and family, Natalie suggests that the family take a trip to New York City. Michael is apprehensive at first, but, if Natalie thinks it will help, he's willing to try anything at this point. Upon arriving at their hotel, Natalie asks Michael to pick-up pizza for the family nearby. When Michael gets back to the hotel, something is different: It's just his stuff in the room - no Natalie or kids and none of their things. Concerned, Michael heads down to the concierge and tries to find out where his family is, but no one has seen anything suspicious. Michael is convinced something terrible has happened to his wife and children, but when the cops arrive, it's clear Natalie planned this escape. The cops think Michael knows exactly why Natalie just ran off with the kids, and they might be right. But will law enforcement get to Natalie before Michael does? Or should they be worried about what Natalie is capable of?

My Wife Is Missing, while presenting itself as an exhilarating thriller, is simply a long-winded, disjointed read. Honestly, this book was boring, but I kept picking it up with the hope that by the end I would love My Wife Is Missing. While the ending had an exciting twist, I left the book pissed - I read all of that fluff for a five chapter thrill? Everything about the book (characters, plot, development) felt superficial and on the surface. Each time something caught my interest, like Michael's parents, it would be brought up 100 times in one chapter, quickly wrap up, and then the plot just moves on. Or, it would be the opposite, like Natalie's insomnia, where every other sentence touched upon it and, by the end, it wasn't a big deal anymore. I will say that I liked the last 10% of the book; the plot twist was unexpected and the ending was crafty. But, overall, I found the book to be incredibly lifeless in its entirety. Sometimes when I read a book that is so bad it becomes memorable, but I will forget that I read My Wife Is Missing by the end of the year, so I can't recommend reading it.

I love books with unreliable narrators that make me question everyone and My Wife Is Missing certainly delivers on that front. This was an addictive page turner that kept me guessing until the very end, with a couple of surprises that I didn’t see coming along the way. I definitely recommend this one and look forward to reading more from DJ Palmer.

I liked this book quite a bit, alternating chapters between a woman who is leaving her husband and is hurt/afraid and the husband with secrets trying to find her. Both unreliable narrators, while it was a fast read in some ways, in other ways it felt slow and some of the ending seemed to come out of nowhere and didn't make sense. Overall a good read

Michael Hart is on vacation in New York with his wife and two children. Leaving them to unpack at the hotel, Michael goes out to pick up pizza. When he returns he finds his son's Teddy bear lying on the floor outside the room door. Soon he learns his family is missing.

The story is told between Michael's viewpoint in present day and his wife, Natalie's viewpoint in different timelines. This is effective because Michael at first doesn't seem to know a lot. Both of the narrators are unreliable so there is a lot of guessing as to what is going on. I did see some things between the lines which made the unreliable narrators fun to read. Natalie in particular is unreliable and the cause of it is done well. I felt a lot of anxiety in her chapters.

The chapters are short and I always wanted to keep reading. I really needed to know what was happening. My Wife Is Missing is a good example of a psychological thriller. The twists thrown in fit the story and I enjoyed the end.
