This was such a fun middle grade graphic novel about a team of ghost hunters who become supernatural vloggers. This felt like a love letter to Scooby Doo but for a "modern" audience. The art style and characters I really enjoyed, I just wish it was a little longer.

"Specter Inspectors" is a fun, supernatural graphic novel that would be a great fit for middle grade and teen readers.

Ghost hunters make a solid concept for a horror story as they try to capture evidence of a haunting on camera. We see the balance between their beliefs and their need to make money. Each member brings their own motivations and baggage to the scenario.McCurdy throws us right into the action so the story moves quickly, though this does mean that the characters are somewhat underdeveloped.

'Specter Inspectors' by Kaitlyn Musto with illustrations by Bowen McCurdy is a graphic novel about a team of supernatural vloggers who might be in over their heads.

Noa, her little brother Gus and Ko and Astrid are trying to get their social media ghost hunting presence going, even if they have previously had a little help. This time around they head to a haunted town, but before they can get too far into the investigation, one of them gets possessed. Now they have many mysteries to solve.

This story had a great vibe about it. The character interactions and development were good and the mystery was interesting. The art ties it all together into a fun creepy read.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from BOOM! Studios and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

This felt like a love letter to Mystery Inc. and the play on real-fake ghosts and ghouls, but with a modern twist. There's a queer love story, a sibling relationship that's growing up, and a need to succeed. While the cover illustrations (cover) depict BIPOC characters, they are not specifically identified.

Thanks to NetGalley for the e-book in exchange for an honest review.

Esta es una novela gráfica que comencé a leer sin saber mucho de ella previamente. Me sorprendió.

I loved pretty much everything about this book! The artwork is fabulous, the characters feel so real, and the plot is fast-paced and well-developed. The art captures the characters, the plot, and the emotions throughout the story so perfectly. The colors are vivid and the characters' emotions are so apparent, so I really felt drawn into this book because of this. Each character seemed unique and fleshed out. The group seemed to have such a good relationship and I loved their dynamic. The LGBTQ representation really was shining through throughout the book, as well. I also have to say that I really loved the demon character! The plot focused around a cultish paranormal story that was definitely creepy and well-done. The art complemented the demon scenes perfectly and the blend of the darker subject matter with the comedy and warmth from the characters was excellent. I was definitely drawn into the mystery and the more paranormal and cultish things got the more I was hooked. Overall this book was a fun read with compelling relationships and characters, great art, and the perfect amount of paranormal creepiness.

This was a great graphic novel. If you like queer rep, paranormal investigators, and gorgeous art work then this is the graphic novel for you.
A group of four paranormal investigators create a found family that seems to have bitten off more than they can chew when one of their own is possessed by a demon.

This was absolutely everything! I really loved all the dynamics we had going on with all of the characters. All of the issues really propelled the story forward but gave us more insight into all the players and kept us interested. I really enjoyed the LGBTQ+ rep in this one. I also think the subject matter is super timely and popular (R.I.P Buzzfeed Unsolved)

I received an e-ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review! Thank you to BOOM! Studios and Netgalley!

The Last Specter is the first volume in a multi-volume graphic novel series following four main characters! If you like scooby doo mixed with supernatural elements AND are looking for a story with sapphic and non-binary representation then The Last Specter is for you! This story had me enthralled from the very first illustration, I love the deep blues and greens that contrast the deep reds throughout this story. One of my favorite things about graphic novels is how it helps personify the story with the style and color palette used by the illustrator(s). This is no different! I thought the palette matched the story perfectly. This story edges on super spooky but balances it would with the banter between the characters, which I loved. This story had me on the edge of my seat, rooting for the characters and feeling the many complicated emotions they did. The diversity within this story was something so amazing and important to see!

I was surprised to find there were more volumes to this story, in all honesty, because the ending closed up quite a lot of things. I suppose the authors were kind of following the Scooby-Doo pattern where the storyline ends neatly for that mystery and then moved onto the next mystery as the viewers (or readers in this case) get to see more development of the characters throughout each volume. I am excited to see what the next volumes hold for our lovable cast of inspooksters!

Noa leads a team of ghost hunters searching for proof of paranormal activity to broadcast on the internet. While exploring and researching in haunted town, Cape Grace, the team uncovers a community immersed in 100 years of mysterious disappearances and demonic rituals.

The characters’ relationships and friendships were the best part about Specter Inspectors, it was fun to see how they interacted with each other, teased, and argued. Noa and Astrid’s storyline was very sweet. I hope in future installments there will be more character development for Gus and Ko, I’m interested in learning more about their background. The character dynamics definitely had me invested in the story and will have me looking for more Specter Inspector comics in the future.

The illustrations brought the characters to life through sharp facial expressions and clothes styling. I love it when characters wear different clothes everyday! The color schemes chosen for different scenes perfectly capture the spooky vibe and tense elements that weave through the story.

Specter Inspectors is a fun, spooky, paranormal jaunt with the characters’ personal growth and relationships at its core. It is perfect for teens who love humorous graphic novels with a darker twist.

I have posted this review to my Goodreads account and will definitely recommend it.

This work is a delightful graphic novel detailing the adventures of a group of ghost-hunting teens who decided to take their adventures to the internet. I genuinley enjoyed this story and really look forward to any furter additions to the series in the future. It's the perfect mixture of spooky, funny, interesting, and tense, with illustrstions that help to keep the reader engaged and invested in the story

Nancy Drew (the CW version) meets Escape Room. Specter Inspectors was a a fun supernatural mysterious adventure. It would have been a perfect read for Spooky Szn (without being overly scary) and I hate that I waited so long to pick it up. My biggest complaint is that this book is not nearly long enough. I want more adventures and investigations. Also, if you enjoy this graphic novel, I highly recommend picking up The Dead and the Dark by Courtney Gould.

This was a delightful graphic novel! I love the humor, and the characters were great! I loved that it reminded me of my childhood with Scooby Doo, yet it wasn't a copy and paste. I recommed this graphic novel for a variety of readers.

This is a nice paranormal graphic novel. The art(particularly the use of color) is lovely. A great option for teens getting into horror.

This was so good! I love the diversity in the characters. It was like super diverse Scooby Doo!

The art was also so beautiful. I really enjoyed the artist’s style and felt the colours were perfect to create a spooky atmosphere.

This was really precious and spooky and fun! I loved the queer rep, loved the demon (I'm such a sucker for demons being primary characters with actual personalities beyond just "evil, grrr"), and the twist was really fun. The art is super pretty and I loved each of the main characters SO much! I'll definitely be grabbing a finished copy of this one for my collection. ♥

✨ Representation: Noa and Astrid are queer/sapphic; Gus uses they/them pronouns

Cute, queer, and just a little spooky! A story about a group of college kids and a high-school aged younger brother attempt to find ghosts for their YouTube channel and things turn demonic. The story is ultimately about accepting yourself and finding who you truly are, but we also get the fun of Scooby Doo-like hijinks and demonic possession!

The art style is simple and charming and the dialogue balances light-hearted goofs and deep personal feelings very well. (Note: the e-copy I was given was not high quality and so the art had a lot of aliasing as a result, I was a bit disappointed to not be able to fully enjoy the art. This is no fault of the author or artist!)

This is marketed for teens but I think it's a great read for anyone 13 and up!

Enjoyed this book more than I expected to. It was perfect for Halloween. The graphic novel is not something I would usually read but this was engaging and exciting. The characters are fully formed and bounce nicely off each othet.
