A faith-fuelling, truth-telling, powerful read for women, much needed for today! It's more than laying out the biblical truths of a woman's worth in Christ and through Christ; this book really reminded me of God's majesty and wonder and intentions to honour and use women as part of His glorious plan throughout humanity's timeline. And it continues with us, today. Loved the deep scriptural wisdom and insight of key women in the Bible, the personal stories and also the discoveries in today's science that just show how Almighty God is (e.g. the DNA in spit!)

I am challenged (in such a good way), encouraged and inspired by Lindsay's writing and her call for Kingdom "women of substance".

This book would also make a great read for a Christian Women's Book Club or Study Group, and the included Discovery Guide for each chapter aids this beautifully.

“Discover Your True Worth” by Lindsay Roberts is a book about women finding their worth in Christ. Roberts utilizes a variety of women in the Bible to show the diversity of women and how each unique person has a special place in Christ and can use their specific gifts to further the kingdom.

It took me a little bit to get my thoughts together enough to write this review. On one hand, Roberts has clearly done her research and believes in her mission to empower women. On the other hand, she is clearly rooted in the prosperity gospel (look up her father-in-law if you want a deep dive into the topic). While I don’t support the prosperity gospel movement, there were some truths and poignant thoughts throughout the book, which leads me to my struggle.

I think if you can separate the biblical truths from the health and wealth moments, then I think this book can be a constructive read for women looking for encouragement. However, a less mature faith may not be able to distinguish between the moments of encouragement and the moments of false promises that things will go well if you’re doing things “right.”

Unfortunately, this book was a 2.5 star read for me that I rounded up to 3 stars. I wanted to love it, but I guess I didn’t realize the full author background before diving in. Thanks to NetGalley and Nelson Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This devotional is lovely and easy to access while still coming away with some deep moments with God. I appreciate the tone and I believe I have listened to a podcast or audiobook of the same author in the past.

Thank you to NetGalley and Nelson Books for allowing me to read this ARC of Discover Your True Worth. My thoughts are my own.

Using examples of women from the Bible and from her own life, Lindsay Roberts writes how women can be confident in who God created then to be. She encourages women to find their value in God and points to these godly characters as role models of the faith.

Some of it feels a little long, and while I didn't agree with everything written, I do believe it is a good reminder.

I would recommend this book to women who are questioning their value or their station in life.

A discussion guide is included at the back of the book for deeper reflection.

The insight Lindsay Roberts has on various women of worth (or not of worth) among the Bible characters is enlightening. Such biblical figures as Susanna, Bathsheba, Esther, Deborah (one of my favorites) and others show us, says Roberts, how they shone even in every day situations. For example, Esther was beautiful, not as an ornament but for a vastly greater task. Read and find out! As women of faith combined with the acknowledgement of our worth, especially in God's eyes, we are "destined for victory". When God puts words in our minds, hearts, and mouth, we can speak into others and have great satisfaction in word and deed as we deliver in humility and faith. It is a great thing to be able to realize our true worth and then be used mightily by the Lord. You just never know...miracles could happen.
