I received a copy of this book via Netgalley for my honest opinion.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Written by eight Canadian authors, there are all kinds of different stories from historical to contemporary to paranormal. Obviously every story revolves around the Christmas season. And, each story has different circumstances, but there is romance in every one. This is a great book to read while snuggled under a blanket with your coffee or tea nearby, and it’s a snowy-can’t-go-outside day.

This is a collection of 8 Christmas romance stories. The genres and time frames vary widely. Everybody will find several stories that they love in this compilation. And they'll probably be a few that you'd just as soon skip. That's the beauty of a book of compilations... pick what you love and read it, skip what doesn't speak to you. I had a couple I really enjoyed, several that I thought were good, and a couple that I struggled with. You may love what I only liked, you may hate what I loved. But there's definitely something in here for everyone. Feel good holiday romance stories, a nice collection.

Unfortunately, the stories in this anthology were just too inconsistent in terms of their quality and themes.

The book started off with THE SPRITE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, which I did enjoy. Since it was the first story, it set the bar for what was to follow, and unfortunately, most of the other stories just didn't measure up.

Other than the fact that they all pertain to Christmas and took place in Canada, there was little else to tie this collection together. There were varying levels of steaminess. Some stories were faith-related and others not. Some were contemporary, while others weren't. I honestly wanted to skip to the end of a few of them.

All in all, there were only two stories in the entire book that I would say I really enjoyed. So, it's hard to recommend this anthology.

Hugs, Kisses and Mistletoe Wishes is a collection of holiday stories by eight different Canadian authors. It offers a little bit of everything so everyone should enjoy this. Some subjects dealt with are a little bit darker than others but all of them have a happy ending.

I usually like a collection of holiday stories, but this one not so much. I liked the first story, The Sprite Before Christmas. in my opinion it was a telling of the Christmas Carol with a twist. The rest of the stories in this collection I just couldn't get into. This was not my cup of tea

A chaste mix of holiday novellas.

I was a bit surprised by the magic and paranormal aspect of this anthology, but its also pretty chaste and engaging. I read the first novella in under an hour and can very much appreciate that in this busy time for us all. A light and sweet novella anthology with a good mix of topics, tropes and styles, so something for everyone.

Recommend.

This has a wide assortment of Christmas novellas. The best two are the first and the last.
The first features a Christmas sprite on a brooch who comes to life and magically shows Faith how her soon-to-be ex really felt about their marriage, reminiscent of A Christmas Carol.
The last is a regency with a neighbor turning out to be a beau.
Most are predictable and forgettable. Some bog down in minutiae. Some have a lot of beer drinking and cussing involved. One includes bad words.

Great historical anthology with four USA today authors Each author
Each and every one put their own spin on Mistletoe season.

Each author put a spin at the Duke of Greystoke’s Christmas party .

Eloisa James story is about the duke’s daughter. Christi Caldwell features Lady Isabelle Wilkshire, the Duke's granddaughter . Christi puts a spin on the story. Lady Isabella should have married 10 yrs ago but something stopped the wedding

Janna MacGregor story involves a niece to the Duke who meets Lord Stephen Whitmore.
Erika Ridley story involves Louisa Harcour, lady Louse doesn’t want to get married but her mother won’t stop

It’s also out in audio for those that like to listen

A nice collection of Christmas stories, ideal as a book to pick up when you have a couple of hours to spare. I loved the Christmas fairy pin story but like all collections I didn’t enjoy them all the same.

So I’m giving 3* to this collection despite the fact that I didn’t like/finish some of them. It just doesn’t seem fair to the ones I did like to give only 2*.
As a rule I love Christmas collections. I usually read several in the run up to Christmas. I didn’t realise so many of these would be religious. It’s never been an issue before but I couldn’t finish some of these. Which was a shame because this collection started so well.
So anyway it appears I’m definitely in the minority here since all the other reviews are glowing. Put it down to me not the book.

THE SPRITE BEFORE CHRISTMAS - 3.5*

So this was a beautiful story to start with. Faith and Noel have lost their way and a Christmas sprite named Holly is determined to correct their path.

MY CHRISTMAS HERO - DNF

I tried, I really did but I just couldn’t get on with this one. I tried several times but it just wasn’t working for me.
Sorry.

LOVE IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS - DNF

I’m not a fan of religious books. I didn’t realise this collection would have so many.

Example:
I sent him to you.
She looked around for the speaker but in the next instant, knew the words had been put in her head by the Lord, who had a habit of dropping strong hints in there.

Okay so that’s just too much for me.

SAFE IN HIS ARMS AT CHRISTMAS - 2*

Again I struggled with this one. I was intrigued by exactly what had driven Nicole away. And I really liked Garrett and his family but…
It didn’t really work for me and it didn’t help that I found Nicole selfish. When something happens (no spoilers here) despite Garrett’s father having a stroke and his mother struggling with everything. Nicole is all “I, I’ve, I, I, I, I, me, me”

A GENTLEMAN FOR CHRISTMAS - 3*

I was ready to call it quits on this collection but I decided to try one more. This one was much better for me but…
(I hate when there’s a but)

It doesn’t state when this book was set. And honestly I’m not normally so picky. But after the last three my patience is wearing a bit thin. It didn’t read like a period romance. Could be me I know maybe people did talk about fancying other people and giving the thumbs up back in the day but it gave it a too modern feel. And the cost of horse vaccinations was astronomical. That works out at six hundred dollars for vaccine and immune therapy for just one horse. Again this could be me but it seemed such a lot.

“Granny, even if I did fancy Logan Campbell, you don’t have to worry. He never helped me with my figures, nor does he fancy me.”

“That’s a cheeky response.”

“What will the vaccine cost?” “It’s expensive. About three hundred dollars per horse….”

“How much does it cost? The vaccine’s expensive.” “It’s pricey, no different than the vaccine. But how much is a life worth to you?”

Cecily was beat, yet she didn’t complain. She gave him a thumbs-up

It sounds like I’m complaining (again) but I’m not really. For the most part I enjoyed this nice easy romance the writing just seemed more modern than I’m used to with period romances.

GINGERBREAD DREAMS - 3*

This was a cute little second chance romance. Poppy previously known as Pudgy Poppy (kids can be so cruel) is a beautiful person inside and out. She’s running her grandmas bakery and herself into the ground in the process. Her main oven has broken and trying to manage with just her backup oven is taking its toll. She needs to win the Annual Gingerbread Baking Competition this year to afford the oven she so desperately needs.

Darius is her longtime crush and the guy who broke her heart in high school. He wants to enter the competition as her partner but can she trust herself with him?

A WISH UPON A CHRISTMAS KNIGHT - 3*

This one was okay. There’s quite a lot going on here and it ends with a HFN. It’s the start of the Spirit Keepers series. I’m a little intrigued so I may check it out when it’s released.

EVEYLN’S BEAU - 3*

This was a nice little read. I liked both the main characters Kendall and Oliver plus all the secondary ones. Especially the children.

A nice way to end this collection.
