Are you looking for a quick pick me up that will shine a light on taking control of how you see your life and circumstances and change your mindset to something more positive? Are you looking for something beyond the overworked toxic positivity of so many self help books and find a healthy dash of reality and honesty? Well then, this book is for you. Unless you are allergic to potty mouth – you might want to skip it if you are easily offended, but you probably should have picked up on that issue with the title of the book, so there’s that.
Branden LaNette is a serious woman who isn’t afraid to tell you to face reality, take responsibility, and work your tooshie off to find the good luck you so desperately want. That if good luck comes your way, then great! But if it doesn’t, you’re still doing the work to make something better of your life and, as they say, making your own luck.
This is a mere slip of a book meaning that even if you struggle to read self-help books, or even hate them with a passion, this book is still a fun read. Digestible in a couple of hours, you can start putting into action rather than waiting for someone like Prince Charming to come along and make your life better because fuck luck bitches! Take accountability for yourself and get into action to make the best of the life you have.

I really liked this book. Branden had some really good points, and kept me entertained throughout the whole book, which not a lot of non fiction has been able to do lately.

WOW. Reading this was like sitting down with a friend and a glass of wine and her basically shaking my shoulders telling it like it is! I love the author's candor and simplicity. Great, easy read.

This book is like a long chat with an old friend over a cup of hot chocolate. It's funny at times, comforting in other bits, and insightful when you least expect it!

Loved it!

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book

My only complaint? Her books are never long enough! I love the style she writes in and the tone she takes. It's just the kick in the pants I needed!

This is one of those laugh out loud kind of books, it felt like you were reading a book written by your favourite auntie who isn’t afraid to kick you up the butt to get you moving again.

Branden LaNette is exactly the the kind of person you want to sit next to at a dinner party, but, failing that, this book is a pretty darn good substitute. This is a no-nonsense take on the myth of "luck" and our outsize focus on the 5% of our lives that is controlled by the whims of fortune versus the 95% that is firmly within our own grasp.

This is good advice, but it's also delivered with a loving, humorous firmness that is the kick in the pants most of us need from time to time. I laughed out loud multiple times, especially at the random references and asides that peppered the text. But, as I was laughing, I was also inspired to pay more attention to being a better version of myself--figuring out what I really want and value, showing up, and boldly getting to work.

This is a quick and very enjoyable read. I highly recommend it for anyone who could use an occasional reminder to get off the couch and make their own luck--in other words, all of us!

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

F*ck Luck. Bitches by Branden LaNette

A great book that gives you the confidence to try to care a little less about how people perceive you and to live your life true to yourself.
