Fast paced and action packed from start to finish. I feel this would make for a great adaptation on the big or small screen.

What a start to a new series. With sleeper agents, races against time and unknown enemies, this is how thriller series should be written.

I have never read anything by the author, but after reading this, I will be keeping an eye out for future releases. I was entertained, thrilled and kept guessing until the end. Would recommend if you are a lover of minor conspiracies and thrills.

I was given a free ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in return for an honest review.

So. Much. Action! The book left me dizzy with the constant action, and the story was familiar and laboured. Interesting back story, strong characters but not something I'd relish reading again.

Hostage negotiator Ethan Munroe is called urgently to a developing crime scene. A serial killer is holding a young girl hostage, and, inexplicably, demands his attendance. Great solid writing, good dialogue, and an effective prose, you will enjoy this book from start to finish. I thoroughly recommend it!

Author R.D Shah https://rd-shah.com published the book “Project Icarus” a few days ago. Mr. Shah has published six novels so far. This is the first book of his ‘Disavowed’ series.

I categorize this book as ‘R’ as it contains scenes of violence and mature language. The primary character is hostage negotiator Ethan Munroe.

Munroe is urgently called to the scene of a hostage standoff. He is perplexed by being asked for specifically by the kidnapper. This spawns a new life and a series of adventures for Munroe.

Munroe was dedicated to his job. He had served for several years in the army before joining the police. He had made that transition after his wife and daughter had died in a terrorist attack five years earlier. Against protocol, Munroe enters the house where the kidnapper is holding a young girl. That is where he meets a man who calls himself Icarus. The action escalates from there.

Munroe is approached by DS5, otherwise known as the Disavowed. Following the end of WWII, DS5 was formed by the British, French, and US. It has been kept top secret with only a handful in the organization. It was created to counter the anticipated rise of a Nazi Fourth Reich.

Nazi leaders were known to have escaped Germany before the war ended. The new organization, Daedalus, had been scheming for decades. They were on the brink of rising to power. Their plans are somewhat thwarted when one of their ranks becomes a serial killer. That man is Icarus. Munroe is swept up in a modern-day struggle against the Nazis.

I enjoyed the 8.5 hours I spent reading this 323-page thriller. I thought that this novel had an interesting plot with more than one twist. I do look forward to reading other books in this series. The cover art is OK. I rate this book as a 4 out of 5.

Looking for the new James Bond?
I think I may have found him.
R.D Shah has created a great character in Ethan Munroe.
The action packed plot in this story races across the globe at a frantic pace but never loses sight of a brilliant story.
I miss authors like Robert Ludlum. This is a book he would have written

This was a well written, action packed novel that leaves you guessing at every point. Perfect for readers of espionage and political thrillers.

A real page-turner, this book was digested very quickly. The action pieces were well done and the flow of narrative was fine but the beginning left me a bit muddled. The conspiracy plot was well handled albeit far-fetched as fiction naturally, hard to believe yet the current climate of pandemics and uprising of people is pertinent enough.
The character of Munroe is one you can foresee returning for future adventures by Shah
All in all, a good yarn spun but not as good as others I have read of late

Thankyou NetGalley, Canelo and the author, RD Shah, for the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy of Project Icarus in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
I was so excited to receive a review copy of Mr Shah's new book. I absolutely loved the Harker Chronicles and couldn't wait to see if this new series would be as good. I was not disappointed.
This is not a book that you can pick up and read for awhile then put down . The author grabs your attention and takes you on a roller-coaster ride. 4.5 stars.
Well worth a read.

Project Icarus offers a different perspective of the world history, one that sounds intriguing in conspiracy theories but deeply scary if it ever came true.
Ethan Munroe is a smooth hostage negotiator with a violent past in the Special Forces. The thriller opens with an urgent beckoning for Munroe to rush to a crime scene where a serial killer, Icarus, has taken a young girl hostage and his only demand is to speak to Munroe. What Munroe discovers in his frightening and psychologically twisting interaction with Icarus invites him to a shadowy decades-long war between a joint clandestine organization of US, Britain, and French operatives, and a common enemy that survived its supposed extinction at the end of World War II.
RD Shah paces the narrative swiftly and smoothly as Munroe is thrust into dangerous action-packed situations where he demonstrates his prowess in hand-to-hand combat, weapons handling, evasive driving, and flying a C-130. There is simply no good time to put the book down until it’s finished as each chapter brings along new twists that add layers of excitement as Munroe seeks the truth behind Icarus.
The narrative is dark and grizzly, befitting the grim nature of the story. The well-established characters on both sides of the global conflict have bucketloads of potential for fleshier story arcs with room for slight improvement in the dialogues to create more natural conversations. With the epilogue ending in a game-changing revelation, RD Shah’s Project Icarus is an exciting addition to the hardcore action-thriller genre with a distinctive flavor.

Well I have good points and some not do good, this book had lots of action, suspense, intrigue and a lot of messed up characters! But the action scenes were awesome! I felt like I was watching a movie with the car chases! They were described excellent! Now the not so good, I really felt lost quite a bit in the beginning I kept thinking what is going on?! Lol but the book was very good besides that! I would recommend reading this book! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
