Quite possibly my favorite yet.

There’s only so much you can say in a review of the 12th book in the series that you haven’t said already.

I adore everything about this series from the setting to the cast. I’ve loved watching the characters grow and develop themselves and their relationships.

In this installment, the love and camaraderie of the key players is phenomenal. These actually feel like real people and that you are there cheering them on.

I’m finally caught up and looking forward to 10/11 for book 13!!

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version. Enjoyable murder mystery and a very easy listen or read. I would read from this author again. The narrator did a good job as well.

Plenty of suspects and a variety of motives make this a fascinating installment in the Library Lovers Mystery series. A political campaign for Mayor causes lots of friction, potential real estate developments are always controversial, and lots of other suspect activity blend together.
Ms Cole, previously a secondary character, is spotlighted this time and we learn more about other townsfolk.

There is something here for everyone.
The narrator made this enjoyable to listen to and has a wonderful energy.

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* Pretty average grade cozy mystery (not bad by any means, likeable but not instantly a new favorite), would look into reading more from this series tho and that may change

This series never disappoints. Though this is the twelfth book, the characters remain interesting and likeable, and the plot of this latest mystery is compelling and believable. I love the way the author depicts the political life of a small town, and the way that people can become enemies over the most petty and trivial of disagreements. I also appreciate the way each character grows and changes from book to book. In particular, I love the trajectory of Miss Cole's development as a character. Reading Killer Research was like spending time with old friends and it was really fun checking in with everyone in Briar Creek.

Killer Research is the 22nd book in Library Lover's Mystery series by Jenn McKinlay. Don't let the high number in the series scare you. This is easily read as a standalone cozy mystery. (I've only read one other book in the series.)

I really enjoyed this audiobook! The narration by Allyson Ryan was tons of fun. She does a great job bringing each character to life!

The story was great, set in a small town, with interesting & likeable characters. The mystery was tons of fun to try to solve and had lots of great twists and turns.

I look forward to reading the next book in the series and recommend this for cozy mystery fans!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was definitely the most unusual murder scene that I have come across in a cozy yet, stuffed in the trunk with political yard signs. The reader did a great job conveying the emotion and intonation, not to mention the change in pitch for gender. As for the mystery, there was a nice variety of suspects and one well placed clue. Highly enjoyable!

It’s an average day at the Briar Creek Library. Library Director Lindsey Norris is taking finger sandwiches and mini tarts to her Crafternoon group, the children’s librarian is dressed as a hamburger for story time, and the current mayor is having an impromptu debate with his opponent in the upcoming election, librarian Ms. Cole.

Once the mayor leaves and the Crafternooners go out to the parking lot, to get Vote for Cole yard signs from Ms. Cole’s car, they find far more than what they expected. The signs are scattered in the parking lot, and there is something else in Ms. Cole’s trunk. When Lindsey looks to see what it is, she finds a body. A man’s body, with marks around his neck like he’d been strangled.

The women call the police, and Briar Creek Police Chief Emma comes out to find that no one recognizes the man and he has no identification on him. But despite any evidence that Ms. Cole had anything to do with the man’s death, the current mayor immediately begins to imply that she does, telling Lindsey that she should fire Ms. Cole immediately and telling everyone that Ms. Cole is not fit to be mayor.

While Lindsey refuses to fire her based on unfounded accusations, she does have to consider that the mayor is her boss, so she has to be careful about showing any bias while she’s representing the library. But in her free time, she’s free to support her friend, and to do a little sleuthing on her behalf.

When Emma’s investigation uncovers the man’s identity, everyone is shocked to find out that he is one of the owner’s of the popular Nana’s Cookies . . . and a former boyfriend of Ms. Cole. She hadn’t seen Henry Lewis since they’d been in college together. They had been passionate about environmental issues together, but when her father fell ill, Ms. Cole had moved back home to help. Henry had gone on to start a business with his best friend, and they had become very successful.

When all this information comes out, the mayor doubles down on his efforts to get Ms. Cole fired from the library and forced out of the mayoral race, but Lindsey doubles down too, to find the real killer so he has nothing to hold over Ms. Cole’s head. But finding a murderer isn’t as easy as it sounds.

Was it Henry’s business partner, who wanted to sell the company in a $300 million deal? Or was it is nephew, who was being forced to put his dreams on hold while he watches over the family property? Or could it possibly be Ms. Cole’s present boyfriend, acting in a fit of jealousy? Or was it the real estate developer who wanted to buy the Lewis family property for his upscale investments?

As Lindsey uses her research superpowers and some old-fashioned friendliness to try to figure out who killed Henry and why, she is working against the clock. While she doesn’t want to let Ms. Cole go from the library, Lindsey knows that the mayor is her boss and did have the power to fire them both, so the clock is ticking on her investigation. Will she figure out the killer in time in time to save both their jobs?

Killer Research is book number 12 in Jenn McKinlay’s Library Lovers Mystery series, and it’s my favorite one for quite some time. It’s a small story, focusing on the happenings at the library and City Hall there in Briar Creek, and it’s nice that the story is nice and tight but still with lots of red herrings and potential suspects. I listened to this one on audio, and narrator Allyson Ryan is the perfect storyteller for these Library Lovers mysteries. She gets the voice of Lindsey just right and has a way of giving each character a distinctive voice also.

I thought Killer Research was lots of fun. I like these characters a lot, and it was fun getting to see a different side of a woman who is thought to be such a dedicated old-school librarian that Lindsey thought of her as “The Lemon.” Adding more texture to these characters just made the entire series more enjoyable, and I look forward to Ms. Cole getting elected mayor and finally approving those security cameras for the library, since they so obviously need them!

A copy of the audio book for Killer Research was provided by Dreamscape Media through NetGalley, with many thanks.

With no small effort, Lindsey and Sully are now married. A dead body at their wedding put a true damper on things, but Lindsey solved the murder and the nuptials took place. Now a happy couple, Lindsey is getting has gotten back to her job as library director. It is time for another crafternoon event, but when the librarian discovers a body in the trunk of her car everyone gives pause.

The librarian is Ms. Cole and the body belongs to someone she dated four decades ago. Why would the body of this man be found in her trunk? Was their something about Ms. Cole from all those years ago that would lead to this terrible discovery? And what of the beautiful village of Briar Creek now dealing with yet another murder?

Leave it to Lindsey and innate skill at solving crimes. From the very start, Lindsey refuses to believe that Ms. Cole had anything to do with the murder. Beyond that, Ms. Cole has a strength that proves that she is more than willing to work with Lindsey to unearth the truth.

Lindsey is not alone in her quest for the truth. In fact, she has the crafternoon pals (okay, I really love that moniker). Between all of them, they plan on solving the murder, as well as another mystery that is happening right before their eyes.

I loved this book, and the previous one, One for the Books. I do plan on backtracking and reading the first ten books in this delightful cozy mystery series. I got both books as audiobook ARCs and found Allyson Ryan to be the ideal narrator.

Many thanks to Berkley and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and Net Galley for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest opinion.

I enjoyed listening to Killer Research. I have not read the previous books in the series, but that didn't matter. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and the cute little seaside town. I liked the narrator. The author kept me entertained and I enjoyed this mystery. I loved the crafternooners! I enjoyed trying to figure out who done it!

I will not be purchasing this for our high school library, but I do recommend it for adult readers.

This is the newest book in Jenn McKinlay’s Library Lover’s Mystery series, and this time Lindsey must solve a murder in order to keep Mrs. Cole (the Lemon) out of jail. I love this series because of the library setting and the cast of supporting characters. I did feel like this one solved a little quickly, but it is still a fun addition to the series.

Thanks to @NetGalley and Berkley for my ARC!

Killer Research by Jenn McKinlay is the 12th book in the Library Lover's Mystery series, and another great book in the series. I have read every book in this series, but this time I listened to the audio book narrated by Allyson Ryan. Ms. Ryan did a fantastic job, it was smooth listening, with excellent changes in the different character's voices. I would definitely listen to more books narrated by her. As for this book and the whole series, I strongly recommend it/them if you love cozy mysteries. As always you get the most out the books if you read them in order.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Killer Research is book #12 in the Library Lover’s Mystery series. This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series and this book is probably my favorite of the series so far. While this book can be read as a stand alone, part of what I loved about this book was to see how far the character of Ms. Cole has grown and changed since the first book.
There is a mayoral election coming up in the town of Briar Creek. Ms. Cole, a librarian at Briar Creek Library, is challenging the current mayor in the election. But then Ms. Cole finds a body in her trunk. After it turns out that the dead person is someone she knew back in her youth, when she led a more rebellious life, her opponent thinks he has it made. But Lindsey, Sully and the rest of the crew believe their friend is innocent and won’t let that happen without a fight.
This is the time I have listened to one of Jenn McKinlay’s books on audio, usually opting for the print version. But I was lucky enough to get an opportunity to get an advanced copy of the audio version through NetGalley. There is always a little bit of apprehension when starting a new audiobook with a reader you are unfamiliar with, especially when you are this far into a series and their voices and characters are already established in your mind. But I had no problem jumping into the audiobook with narrator Allyson Ryan. She read with a nice voice, and an easy pace and was very enjoyable to listen to. I would definitely choose other books that she read when picking an audiobook.
Looking forward to the next installment in this series.

I recently reviewed One for the Books (Library Lover's Mystery, #11) and thought it was 5 stars. I liked Killer Research (#12), but didn't think it was quite as strong of a book as #11.

I enjoyed Killer Research, mysteries are not usually my genre of choice. #11 and #12 are the only books by Jenn McKinlay that I've read; in my opinion each book stands on its own.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author Jenn McKinlay and the publisher Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to review the advance read copy of Killer Research in exchange for an honest review. Edition reviewed was the audio version narrated by Allyson Ryan who did a great job.

I remember in book one when Lindsey arrived in Briar Creek and we met the curmudgeonly Ms. Cole. Now it's book twelve and I just figured out that Ms. Cole and I are around the same age. What's up with that, Jenn McKinlay?

I love how all of the characters have grown and changed over the years. I love how each time I read a book by this author it becomes my new favorite of that series. I appreciate that anyone who is reading my review isn't rolling their eyes and thinking that I posted that last time. Anyway . . .

Ms. Cole is campaigning for mayor of Briar Creek (I hope she loses because I'll miss her in the library) when she is investigated for the murder of someone she once knew. Of course Lindsay and the rest of the crafternoon group set out to solve the murder so they can vote against the current mayor and for Ms. Cole.

I love the small town atmosphere of the Library Lover's series. The people are lovely and witty, kind and funny. Although this is the twelfth book in the series, it really does stand on its own.

Another great addition to Jenn McKinlay’s Library Lover’s mystery series! When “the lemon” is associated with a murder in the library parking lot, her run for mayor is in peril. It is up to the crafternooners to come to her aid and solve the mystery. Underhanded political tactics, former love affairs, and cookies all play a major role in this delightful read. I can’t wait for the next installment!

Another fun book in this series set in the cute and (very!) fictional town of Briar Creek, CT. Quick read!

I love this series. I would love to go to a library like the one they work in. Beth does the best at being the children's librarian and I think that I would love to see what she dresses up as each time. Lindsey is keeping busy keeping the library going and solving another murder. Ms. Cole's campaign for mayor is ramping up and the current mayor is doing all he can to derail it, including accuse her of murder. I liked seeing how they reasoned things out and the murderer was a real surprise. I look forward to the next installment.
