Karen McQuestion made me care so much for the characters, it was painful to let them go at the end (and yes, there were tears).

I am emotional thinking about it again, I listened to this book in one sitting and purchased the e-book as as soon as I was done to keep the characters close to me. It deals with loss, kindness and altruism in the most beautiful ways and also balances really well light and darkness - it shows us the best and worst of human nature.

Stacey Glemboski's narration was perfect. Her flow and emotion was delivered perfectly and I feel she did the story justice. I didn't miss a second narrator at all.

3.75 stars! I really enjoyed this on audio, but I wouldn't call it a thriller; it was definitely more drama and mystery. The plot was interesting, and I loved the happy ending. Definitely recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This audiobook was a nice surprise, I was thinking there was a paranormal type of story here but it was more reality than not. It was a story about families, loss and finding someone again. This was the kind of story that stays with you for days. Left me thinking of people who are missing family members, especially this holiday season.
The audio was fantastic and kept me interested in the story throughout!
Definitely recommended for fans of contemporary and family relationship stories.

Something about this book just rubbed me wrong. The whole thing came off to me like a 'perfect' parent lecturing others to make sure they know just how inferior they are.

This one has an interesting premise but I had a hard time staying engaged with them. I think I would have enjoyed this one much more physically reading rather than the audio book. The narrator was not my favorite

This audiobook was so creepy and great! I loved our MC and just felt the spooky atmosphere. I loved this book so much more than I thought I was going to.

3,5 stars. This was a solid, mystery story. The mystery was obviously an interesting and compelling aspect of the story, but the best part of the book was the relationship between the two main characters. I loved their relationship from the outset, and appreciated how quickly they bonded and how we got to see their relationship grow throughout the story. The mystery of the "moonlight child" was also great, and the reveals of the story were really compelling. The narration was great, and I feel this is a story that lends well to audio narration.

Overall a solid book that I recommend to people who enjoy more character driven mysteries.

The Moonlight Child starts off with seemingly unrelated threads. A young woman who leaves home never to be heard from again, a seemingly normal suburban family, an empty nester who welcomes a new tenant into her home.

The story was told in multiple POVs and Karen McQuestion did an amazing job in capturing ALL of them. Each character's reasoning and thought processes were spot on.

A running theme in the story is that familial bonds can form even in the absence of blood ties, with Sharon/Nikki and Jacob/Mia being great examples of that. Found family is one of my favourite tropes, so I was happy with this one.

The Moonlight Child is a captivating story that explores loss, motherhood and family.

Huge thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this audiobook.

I was intrigued and interested in reading The Moonlight Child after reading the slightly spooky and mysterious book blurb. Even though it was told in multiple POV's, it was very easy to follow. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed it very much. A very emotional and gripping story that I recommended reading!

I chose this book for an October read because the cover looked spooky. It wasn’t the spooky ready I was hoping for, but it was still a great read! I was approved for the audiobook on NG and it was incredible.

This story follows three mothers and their lives, but Sharon is the main focus and my favorite character.

Suzette is her neighbor and there wasn’t one likeable thing about the woman! Even though she lost a daughter as a baby, I couldn’t feel any sympathy for her.

The third mother is Wendy. Her and her teenage daughter have a troubled relationship. Wendy doesn’t like her daughter’s boyfriend, which causes Morgan to take off with the boyfriend. Wendy plays a bigger part later in the book, as we begin to see how the lives of these women intersect. It’s sad and wonderful, all at the same time!

Thank you to NetGalley and Karen McQuestion for an advanced readers copy. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

I looked forward to this book. I wish I agreed with so many of the reviewers on this. Maybe it was the third person, possibly the descriptive nature of the storytelling... Alas, in the end it was a little predictable (minus one surprise twist) with some characters that were honestly annoying. The ending was sweet and wrapped in a nice bow.

The audiobook was well done and the narrator did a solid job on the voices, the pace etc.

Thanks to netgalley and the author for the opportunity to listen to the book.

This was a great listen. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the advanced copy. I stayed up entirely too late to finish this one!

This is a other of the stories where the main characters are amateur detectives, instead of involving the police, but it works really well here. I especially liked the dynamic between Sharon and Niki and would actually love to see more on what these two get up to later.

I deducted one star mostly because of the too-perfect ending that I can’t say much about without giving spoilers. It’s probably kind of petty of me, but I don’t like the perfect HEA in thrillers.

I was given the opportunity by NetGalley to listen to this audiobook for my honest opinion. Good story but it left me wondering as to why the Sharon acted the way she did with Mia, what caused the sudden change?

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the ARC! Finished on the day it was archived, Phew! Okay so I'm not sure about the narrator. Seriously a 64 (or was she 62?) sounding like a decrepit old lady with two feet in her grave! And the author portraying her as an incompetent woman according to her daughter and her "granddaughter". PLEASE! With that said the book was okay a solid 3 stars. It would have been a 4 star if Sharon wasn't portrayed as an elderly woman that sounded and acted like she was 100. Susan, OMG what a horrible woman but she was that necessary evil to make the story what it was. Loved the dog!
Also I completely forgot about the people that were introduced in the beginning when they were brought back in around chapter 18. Had to back track on that one.
The narrator did do a decent job with the other characters but as I said not Sharon. My mom is older than Sharon and sounds nothing like what Sharon does.

Retired Sharon walks into her backyard at 11pm to look at the lunar eclipse. She notices a light at the kitchen window of her neighbors the Flemings. She is confused to see a little girl about 5 years old washing dishes. The Flemings do not have a daughter. Then she is shocked to see Mrs. Fleming grab the girl and close the blinds.

Obviously there is something very suspicious going on at the Flemings. How we find out, what we discover about them and the characters who help lead us to the truth are all part of a well written novel. There is much heartache, a lot of scenes that will anger you about the Flemings, especially Mrs. Fleming who is clearly a psychopath. I was more angry with her spineless husband who could have done so much sooner to rectify everything.

The narrator Stacey Glemboski gives one of my favorite performances for an audiobook. Her interpretation of young Mia's voice was the heart and soul of the story for me. Mia is filled with wonder despite her situation. A cupcake brings her unimaginable joy. Having never known any other life she just wants to please the supposed adults in her life.

There are a few surprises but most readers will figure out everything before the end. But what I enjoyed was the subtleness in the writing. The writer does not throw crazy reveals for shock value. She tells the story more on how the situation effects the characters and their response to it. That being said I would have loved a ten year fast forward epilogue of where everyone ended up.

If you enjoy a bit of family drama, mystery, and thriller vibes this audiobook will do it all for you.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the publisher via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Sharon Lemke has an empty nest and a big heart and she's just the right person to take in Niki, a former foster child trying to make it on her own as a new adult. They both have their own reasons for not standing idly by when they see possible child abuse happening in the house behind them, but they have no idea of the mystery they are about to unravel.

This was a gripping, on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller with really great, well-developed characters who were just the right people in the right place at the right time. I was just off-balance enough through the first few chapters that I didn't see how the two different plot lines were going to merge. I always love that feeling at the beginning of a good mystery.

I really enjoyed Niki. The author captured the inner fragility as well as the hard outer layer of this teenager who had lived a life full of heartbreak already. Her character contrasted with Sharon, the kind, loving, mother with just a small rebellious streak worked so well .

What stood out to me were the relationships between the characters. The author spent a lot of time exploring healthy and not-so-healthy relationships.

I don't think there was a lot new or different mystery-wise, but it was just a really satisfying read and I enjoyed it a lot.

If you have any awareness of the trauma related to adoption/guardianship/foster care you may find this book either moving or perhaps triggering on some level. I really liked the characters, Sharon and Nikki. There was a dynamic between these two woman that made the story what it was.
Sharon is the mother/grandmother anyone would want, and in her, Nikki found that there are honest and caring people in the world. For someone to care about a stranger, to open their lives and their homes as well as undertake something as dangerous as investigating a neighbor because you think a child is in trouble is something Nikki never dreamed existed.

This audiobook is what makes this book the most enjoyable for me. It checks every box in terms of its story and the quality of the writing.
With the narrator, Stacey Glemboski, well-rehearsed in this riveting, intense book, I could imagine each character as a separate person not just a narrator changing their voice to match the sex of the person. I was emotionally drawn into the characters and the situation.

I’m not sure this would categorize itself as a Mystery/thriller like most readers are used to. There is no mystery of where the child came from, who the child belonged to, or how she had come to her circumstances. The mystery was how it all would come together, how each separate line would meet in the middle and give a satisfying ending.

Thanks to @Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, and Karen McQuestion for this Audiobook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I really enjoyed that this book took on various layers related to difficult family relationships.
If you have any awareness of the trauma related to adoption/guardianship/foster care you may find yourself quite moved by these characters. The characters had a lot of depth and while you could’ve definitely gone further with any of them, to do so would have the reader feeling like it was too much. I think the author was able to strike a perfect balance. The antagonist is quite the wicked witch and I kept envisioning a modern day Cruella DeVille with the level of her cruelty. You will be cheering for the characters to find some form of happy ending.

This audiobook is so satisfying and checks every box in terms of its story and quality of the writing. It was so compelling!! With the narrator, Stacey Glemboski, well-rehearsed in this riveting, intense book, I did not want the adventure to end. I was emotionally drawn into the characters and the situation and looking for the investigation to be solved. I realize this is not for everyone in the mystery thriller category because of its subtleness and lack of, but it was perfectly woven into an investigation around a small little girl named Mia that was kidnapped/taken when she was two years old. I found myself cheering for her innocence and survival.

Told in several POVs, but when told through Mia's eyes, her naiveness is captured as well as her glass half full personality that will bring you to your knees in tears. Raised in a drug infested environment she was found wandering the streets by an arrogant, unacceptable, rude, ritzy woman and her teenage son and decides to take her home and raise her without anyone's knowledge she exists. Against her husband's approval and disdain, she tucks her away in the basement and by five years old she is cleaning the house and doing their laundry. You will despise who she calls "Ma'am".

When neighbor, Sharon, sees her in the window late at night washing dishes, it is an honest mistake that will bring knowledge to her existence. She knows they do not have a daughter and ponders some reasons why she would is there. When Sharon's daughter, Amy, refers a former foster teen, Niki, to stay with her mom and help her get on her feet, they become a mismatched team to investigate the weird occurrences across the street.

Sharon reveals a number of important character dimensions, such as compassion, nurturing and empathy, which draws Niki in from her current situation. After Niki's foster care experiences and dealing with bullies at school, she reveals a unique trait of moral reasoning and social responsibility as key factors in growing up. Together they are perfectly driven for a cause.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat with their almost miss predicaments and and team "Mia" advances to find out the truth behind this hidden away "Moonlight Child". It is one that will stay with me for awhile.
Thank you NetGalley, NightSky Press and Dreamscape Media for this book in exchange for my honest review!

I love this book. I immediately bonded with Niki, Sharon, Jacob & Mia. I knew what was going on but didn’t know the extent of the details that led to it all and and how it would all play out.

The ending was touching and satisfying.
Thank you, Karen McQuestion, Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for my audiobook to read & review.
