Love penguin stories, love that this is based on real events, but wish it was more plot driven, instead of just meandering. It's different to watch on video instead of reading.

Real life rockhopper penguins, Edward and Annie live at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. Children will love reading this story about these two penguins and their adventures, maybe they will have a chance to see them in real life one day if they ever visit the aquarium. Knowing the book is about real animals instead of made up characters brings a new level of excitement and delight to young readers.

The two penguins go on an adventure and explore the aquarium, meeting many of the other animals who also call Shedd their home. But there are so many strange and wonderous creatures and the two friends realize that there is so much out there they do not understand. The book shares a valuable lesson that differences are amazing and should be treasured. Just because someone is different, does not mean it is bad and that exploring something new is much more exciting when done with a friend by your side when you start to feel nervous. With an underlying lesson of tolerance, trying new things and sticking together, this is a wonderful tale for all.

Edward and Annie is a book that introduces children and their families to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. It is a quiet day with no visitors, so Edward and Annie go on a tour of areas of their aquarium home that they have not visited before, touring with their carer, Kai. They meet other creatures that live there and learn that there is so much more to the world than their own penguin habitat. This was a cute book to learn about different animals, specifically, life in water habitats. This is a great book to read to children who are learning about habitats, or before visiting an aquarium. It is also perfect for armchair travel for children. I didn't know about their adventures online during Covid lockdown, but we watched many of their videos after reading this book and learned a lot more about the animals, especially Rockhopper Penguins. This is a fantastic book to have in public, school and classroom libraries. It is one that sparked a lot of interest in my home and has been read more that once. The Shedd Aquarium Facebook page is one we now follow.

Edward and Annie is a very colorful and informative book. This book will be a great addition to non-fiction stories about animals in other stories. I can use this with our science curriculum. In it there is a story about sea turtles. This would make an excellent addition. The story is light and enlightening about how change can be exciting even though it may be a scary time. This story can also be read to students that may be experiencing some changes in their lives just as Edward and Annie went on an adventure and learned that things that are different are not always bad. They can be fun and exciting as well.

Beautiful book that was both educational, as well as something children can connect to after going through the years with Covid.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Edward and Annie is a fiction book for children about two penguins who made it famous online during covid lockdown. This is a lovely book about a day at the aquarium - a day different to other days. Edward and Annie get to go explore the aquarium with Kai their feeder/carer. They get to meet all manner of marine life on their day trip around the aquarium. This is a great little book for children who love penguins or marine life.

Such a cute story of their walk around the zoo where something feels a little different to them. There's no visitors but the story shows that it's ok for things to be a little different right now. I also really enjoyed the beautiful illustrations.

Edward and Annie are two adorable penguins that live in an aquarium. One day, they wake up and something feels different: the aquarium has no visitors!

Their carer takes advantage of this opportunity to walk them (and by extension the readers) to the rest of the animals that live there.

A cute story about animals that live in that type of places, that offers an alternative to visiting an actual aquarium for those who, for whatever reason, can't do that. And even if they can, this can be used as an introduction to kids learning about those animals.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This is the day that Edward and Annie walk around the zoo, meet all the animals, and make new friends.

The illustrations in this book are beautiful and the idea of giving the kids an illustrated tour of an aquarium under the guise of taking a couple of penguins for a walk tickles me pink. Lots of animals are introduced, as well as the idea of embracing both change and normalcy.

This is a fun and interesting picture book for exploring an aquarium. It follows two penguins as they visit different habitats and meet new species of marine creatures. The illustrations are large and colourful, but this picture book contains many large paragraphs of text, which makes me confused as to what age group the book is aimed at.

The story briefly touches on the coronavirus pandemic, as the penguins realise that there are no people in the aquarium and hope they will return soon. The inspiration for the book comes from the way the aquarium operated while they were closed during the pandemic, but from a story perspective, I think this should have been omitted. As the book never explicitly mentions coronavirus, it seems strange and awkward when it is hinted at in the story.

This book also feels very strongly like an advertisement for Shedd Aquarium, which didn't detract from the story for me, but others might find it bothersome.

What a gorgeously illustrated tale of two penguins who go on an adventure in their aquarium. These rockhoppers meet several friends along the way, and enlighten the reader with animal facts as they go. Not only was this story beautiful to read, but it makes you feel nostalgia for being young and exploring new sights. The details were truly stunning, and the facts about the Shedd Aquarium were fascinating. What a delightful read. A book I will surely add to my classroom library!

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the eARC.

Edward and Annie is the super cute, based on real penguins, tale from the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. The penguins know something is different, but can't figure out what, when they follow their caretaker through the aquarium. They visit lots of different animals at Shedd, including sea otters, whales, and turtles. While wandering around, they realize that there are no people there to visit them!

The book is super cute and talks a bit about Shedd and the programs that they host at the end. I would 100% buy this if I was visiting Chicago, or Shedd, as a souvenir. I would also happily buy it to add to our library at home, since my zoo and aquarium loving 5 year old really enjoyed this book, and I loved how wonderfully it was illustrated! 4.5 stars from me, and 5 stars ("for the turtles!! and the penguins!!!" from my little reviewer.

My thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC copy of this book for review.

Edward and Annie is an adorable story of the closure of the Shedd Aquarium through penguin eyes. I love that it incorporated facts about the various animals and their routines. The illustrations are bright and vibrant and incorporate real exhibits from the Shedd Aquarium. I also appreciate that this book encourages empathy toward animals by showing their feelings and relationships with both people and other animals. I do wish it had quotation marks around the penguin's speech.
