I was very disapointed in The Orchid Inn. It started off well -- four sisters, three of whom are main characters in the story; Ava, Charlotte and Sarah are living unhappy, unfulfilled lives.
Their father left when they were growing up and their mother never refused to tell them what happened so they were left to feel abandoned by him. Thei mother, who is a successful Federal judge comes off as an extremely cold, uninvolved, person who's parenting style is to say "I told you so" to her adult daughters when they come to her with disasterous life problems.
The sisters are estranged from each other but have to work together because they have all ended up at their grandmother's Inn on Orchid Island for the summer, each of them running away from their problems.
The book isn't too bad until the end -- it was very abrupt and completely unbelievable. Delaney spends a lot of time on the character's back stories and getting you in their corner, and then, out of nowhere their problems are solved by (spoiler alert) their missing father having won the Irish Sweepstakes! Really?
The end of the book is just stupid and several storylines are left unfinished. I actually couldn't believe the book was ending when it did, that's how abrupt it was.
I try very hard not to leave a poor review but in this case I can't help myself. Don't bother wasting your time on this book.

This is a story about three sisters who lives crash around them. It’s about finding the strength to pick yourself up, reevaluate past decisions and take a chance on the future. I really liked each of the sisters. They are strong willed and very talented. It was easy to read and sucked me in from the very beginning.

Love this story of the 3 sisters that gathered at the Orchid Inn and they way that each of them ended up there.. Grandma Eileen ran the Inn and each of them contributed to helping her. There father had left them when the youngest were 6 and 8. Sarah and Ava were much older. Does he eventually come back and explain it all to them. Do they accept him back, A GOOD READ. This is the first time I have read this author and enjoyed the story. This is the first of a 6 book series.

The Orchid Inn by Aisling Delaney is a charming book about family...what tears it apart and what brings it together again. The Orchid Inn is a B&B run by Gran Eileen, the grandmother of the girls around whom the story centers. Three of the four sisters have had major life changes and retreat to the inn for healing and advice from Gran, and hopefully some answers as to why their father suddenly left them 17 years before. Ava's marriage imploded as her high power career came to a sudden end. Sarah's boyfriend has died of ALS, leaving her broke and adrift after their long jet-setting relationship. Charlotte's marriage has just broken up because her husband has told her he never wants children...something she can't live with. Can these women come to terms with their changed lives and reconnect with their sisters?

Thank you to the author, Sunrise Books and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series...this was the first of six!

This book is definitely not my cup of tea and I did not finish it. I found it to corny and trite, with the characters stereotypes. The book is written at about the fifth grade reading level and it was obvious that everyone, miserable as they had been when arriving at Orchid Island, would live happily ever after.

I received this book from the publisher and NetGalley.
