WHAT HIS WIFE KNEW is a suspense novel. Beth Lomas reports her husband Oscar has gone missing. Not initially alarmed about his absence Beth waits a few days before calling the police. Soon she is told that a body identified as her husband has been found at the bottom of a cliff located at a well known hiking trail. Oscar was an experienced hiker and hiked regularly. Evidence leads the police to believe this is a clear cut case of suicide. Beth finds it hard to accept that her confident outgoing husband would ever do such a thing and expresses her suspicions to the investigator on the case. She thinks Oscar may have been murdered. As more details come to light about Oscar’s past, the investigator DC Lowry Endecott decides to delve deeper.
The story is told from three POV. The first is Beth Lomas, the second is her best friend Molly Ingram and the final view is that of the investigator DC Endecott.
I liked WHAT HIS WIFE KNEW. The suspense built nicely. I thought the ending was a little too neat but it didn’t detract from my overall impression of the novel.

A super mystery. After the death of her husband, his wife begins to find out secrets and mysterious events surrounding her husband. She finds he was not the only person involved, and her life becomes dangerously complicated. A well written story with characters I could believe in. I would love to read more of Jo Jakeman.

Thank you to NetGalley, Jo Jackman and Penguin Random House Canada for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review.

The first little bit of this novel reads quickly, but it seems like not much happens and I was fairly bored with the whole thing. I think I just didn't feel anything for these characters and it made me not want to finish the book. The ending is a bit better than the rest of the novel, but it just wasn't for me. I can see how it could be a good read for those who enjoy more domestic time mysteries.

Snuffle Fluffle!! 😯😳😯

Well holy shishkabob! This novel through me for a loop! While I had the "who" figured out about 3/4 of the way through, how it all worked out and led up to it, I did not see coming at all! 😳 this was a darn, deep twisting thriller & suspense. It makes you wonder how well you really know your significant other. Oscar's body is found after what's believed to be due to suicide at a hiking cliff point. His wife, Beth is devastated and can't understand how. Very quickly Beth realizes no one and nothing is what it seems, and her perfect marriage & family life portrayed were nothing more than that. She realizes Oscar isn't the husband she believed & starts to uncover more and more about this deceiving husband and father to her 2 children. So did Oscar really commit suicide, or was it far more sinister? And could they be after Beth next? I absolutely loved every moment of this and disliked Oscar with such a passion! This domestic thriller had it all and more! So twisted, delish and unbelievable how and who had their own secrets.

I was going to go with 4.5 stars.

Then I got to the ending and up it went to 5 stars.

There are so many twists and turns in this book that pages turned quickly and the lights stayed on late into the night.

What His Wife Knew is full of characters that you can hiss at, ( love it) they are just nasty people.

Then there is Beth who's whole world is blown apart on the death of her husband and now she has to learn to stand up for herself.

She stumbles but she does well.

Put What His Wife Knew to the top of your TBR pile; you won't be disappointed.

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada, Viking for a captivating read.

So fast paced and full of plot twists at every corner. Couldn’t put it down. A perfect ending to a treacherous man and what he did to his entire family. You really don’t know a person at all sometimes.

Thank you NetGalley for this arc
