I had an interesting experience with this book. 100% because I picked it up without refreshing myself on the synopsis, just jumping right in. This made for an incredibly interesting investigative experience when paired with Meg Grehan's Poetic Storytelling.

I used to devour stories told in verse; when I was younger, they were something I adored. (Even often, the topics they depicted were a little too dark for my young eyes). Coming back to them as an adult feels refreshing, bite-sized, and widely encompassing at the same time. The story is as deep as you, as the reader, want to take it, and that is nice.

And much like the message Grehan leaves us with, there is always a chance to try this story again.

Wow! I really liked this!! I don’t often read stories like this (I used to a lot as a teen), and clearly I should more often. Some chapters really had me in my inner aspiring VA voice because they were so good. There were a lot of things I was curious about, such as how their little family came to be. It’s clear that Freddie and Henry are important but there isn’t as much about them to make them feel “real” to me (or as rounded out as I’d like). The story is bittersweet but so good

I haven't read a book written in verse in a long time, but this one was really good. The main character, Immy, is a teenage vampire who lives with two other vampires in a little found family (which I love). I really liked that the vampires can remember their past lives as well. The way this is written is great. You can feel all of Immy's emotions. Her joy, fear, craving, love and it's beautiful.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own. I would recommend this to anyone who likes novels in verse, vampires and lesbian stories.

I loved this, this was an amazingly written story! There isn't enough sapphic stories but this sapphic vampire one is amazing. Thank you so much for the arc.

Nothing else to be said but this is a lovely gay prose book and I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy so I can annotate it and share all my favorite passages with my friends.

I both liked and disliked this book. I think it's a solid 3.5 - 5 star book. I saw another review saying that its not about the plot or the characters. It's about the vibes and that's what made me like it even more. It's toasty, ribbon in hair, sexy, lusty, heart breaking, woods, moss, cottagecore vibes.

This book made me realize that I do not enjoy books written in this poetic style, but it was so good regardless that I'm giving it four stars. Extremely sweet and gentle, which is impressive when talking about vampires.

It starts when Claudia offers her a yellow rose. Immy has been in love before – many times, across many lifetimes. But never as deeply, as intensely as this. Claudia has never been in love like this before either. But then, this is her first time with a vampire. The forbidden thirst for blood runs deep in Immy. And within her mind clamour the voices, of all the others she has been, their desires, and their wrongs.

I enjoyed Baby Teeth by Meg Grehan! This sapphic vampire tale is a quick read, but it handles some heavy topics like obsession and toxic love. There were times where the writing style was a little too repetitive for me, but I really liked Grehan's writing overall. If you're looking for a quick sapphic read, I'd recommend checking this one out!

I don't think this book hit me the way it did other people, but that's okay! It was a quick novel in verse about a sapphic vampire that explored the theme of desire, and the vibes were there. But it didn't offer much for me.

Deeply moving and entertaining poetry. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the cover and the description, but I really enjoyed this book of poetry.

An absolutely lovely little book with beautiful writing. There needs to be more sapphic vampires because hello wow. The story had me a little confused, but the plot really does take a backseat to just being a vibey book. Recommend to people who like the atmosphere of We Are Okay by Nina Lacour.

“When she looks at me, I don’t feel seen, I feel known”- Baby Teeth by Meg Grehan.

Baby Teeth is beautiful novel in verse story by the wonderful Meg Grehan. It is narrated by the POV of Immy a vampire trying to conquer her demons( the blood thirst, regrets of past life etc) while falling in love with the stunning Claudia. Immy’s story is filled with heartache, desire, lust and regret. I could not look away.

I am clearly reading the wrong poetry because I’ve never read any that featured vampires. This made Baby Teeth such a unique read for me and I loved it. Immy and her found family of vampires remind me a little of What We Do in The Shadows, and it was fun( and sometimes heartbreaking) to read about.

Immy’s crush on Claudia was very cute to read but their developed relationship is no Edward and Bella. (Though thank god because we all agree that Edward was really freaking weird) Immy and Claudia (Plus Claudia is an adult so already they win) are clearly devoted to one another but Immy is an immortal who is haunted by what she must do to survive. Meg Grehan portrays something so real and raw and yes ( I sobbed) but I would read it again and again.

One thing I really appreciate about Meg Grehan is that she includes prose that’s easy to understand- this is usually my biggest con with poetry because I have never been versed- yep I went there and … I will see myself out– in it. She writes stories that are so touching and I can actually read them without staring intently at the wall and wondering- WHAT DID IT MEAN??

Furthermore I love that all her books feature Sapphic main characters. I have loved just about all the novel in verse books I have read, but Meg Grehan’s books definitely have a higher place in my heart because of that reason.

I highly recommend this book, especially if you love paranormal stories or just want to try out a lyrical novel in verse story. BUT SERIOUSLY A NOVEL IN VERSE FEATURING A SAPPHIC VAMPIRE!! YOU ALL NEED IT.

Content Warnings: Blood, gore, discussions of violence, past death.

i got this arc through netgalley and little island books in exchange for a honest review (thank you so much) and i was excited to read this from the cover alone. this is a sapphic vampire story told in verse. do i need to say more? i think it did an amazing job at expressing desire and sweet, tender romantic love while also exploring loneliness and one’s self identity. the verses were very beautiful (but might have been a bit repetitive sometimes) and accessible. it’s a short book to go through and i recommend it to anyone who needs more sapphic vampires in their lives.

I am such a sucker for a novel in verse and this was excellent. It felt like such an intimate look into a relationship and portrayed a strong but imperfect couple beautifully. It took me a minute to get into the writing style, because even for a novel in verse, it felt rather abstract. However, once I did and as the story progressed through the main relationship, I found the story compelling and the usage of the form, particularly usage of repetition, really well done. The only thing I would have preferred would be more scenes with the family. Henry was interesting and I wanted to know more about him as the apparent head of their little family. Overall, it was a good, quick read and I'd be interested to read more of Grehan's books.

I’m fairly new to novels in verse, but this was really enjoyable to read! The prose are beautiful and had such wonderful detail and heart in them. This, on top of the fact it’s about lesbians… and vampires! That’s a win in my book. The supernatural elements of Immy’s vampirism are much more grounded then other depictions of vampires. This book is more so about her inner thoughts and coming to terms with letting herself be happy, and have something good in her life, being the cute girl in the flower shop, Claudia. The introspective dive into her complicated thoughts and feelings made this a really engaging read.

i did not realize this was going to be a heartbreak story 🥺

this sapphic vampire novel-in-verse is soft and sweet, tender and dark, and helplessly sad. the desire-filled romance evokes a specific type of fresh, earthy, heartfelt sapphic wonder which i absolutely adore.

often novels-in-verse are puzzling to me. for some stories it can be hard to see why author chose the format over prose. but for this story, it fits. baby teeth isn't so much about the vaguely-drawn characters or the barely-there plot. it's about the vibes and the imagery. it's about the rainy walk to the flower shop, the warm mug of blood, the ribbon holding the braid together, the long gray afternoon in the woods, the bite-bruised neck, the warmth of the cabin fireplace, the yellow rose in bloom.

i will say that the poetic style is quite repetitious. some phrases are sometimes repeated like a chant, like a prayer. i could appreciate this because i think it matches the narrator's emotionally-loaded state of mind, but the repetition might bother some people.

anyway. i'd recommend reading this for the vibes and for the gay emotions. it's short and sweet and sad.
