An exciting romantic suspense tale. I appreciate when the female protagonist is a capable woman and doesn't wait for a man to rescue her. There were many occasions in this story when she had to be proactive or die. Quite the page turner. Good to see that this is the first of a series. I am eager to read more by this author. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.

Penny Carlton, an EMS helicopter pilot, crash-lands her helicopter on a sparsely populated mountaintop in a blinding storm. When she leaves the copter to seek help, leaving behind a critical patient and two fellow EMS nurses, she has no idea an escaped convict has headed towards the same mountain.

When serial killer Darius Rabor escapes from prison, FBI Special Agent Holton Satterfield gets called in to help hunt him down. As a member of the original team which apprehended Rabor, Holt and his partner have insight into the mind of the twisted killer.

When Holt finds out his friend, Penny Carlton, has crash-landed on the same mountain Rabor has escaped to, he prays his team will arrive before Penny becomes Rabor’s next victim. Penny saved Holt’s life a year ago, during Rabor’s first capture. Will their friendship ever have a chance to develop into something more? Or will the killer exact his revenge first?

What I Loved About This Book

Eason hits it out of the park with another suspenseful masterpiece. Although Penny comes from a privileged background, she has made mistakes and learned to overcome them. Some of the boundaries she erects prevent her from trusting others completely, though. Holt has his own ghosts to cope with—his sister’s murder conviction, for starters. Despite their growing feelings for each other, Penny and Holt must deal with their pasts before they can contemplate a future together.

Readers who love books by Carrie Park, Kelly Irvin, and Nancy Mehl will love this book.

** “You’re stronger than you think, Penny, but where you’re weak, the Lord is strong. Let him be your strength.” **

Lynette Eason has opened her new Extreme Measures series with a home run in “Life Flight,” an intense romantic thriller.

When EMS helicopter pilot Penny Carlton gets caught in a terrible storm on an emergency call, she must set down on a mountain — the very same mountain where a serial killer is loose. She soon joins forces with FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield, and more sparks than just from the case begin to fly.

As Penny quickly becomes a target, they must work together to find the serial killer before it’s too late.

Eason, yet again, creates an incredible plot filled with heart-thumping moments and twists and turns, as well as fascinating and relatable characters. Readers will love the brave and spunky Penny and the loyal and courageous Holt, as well as many of the supporting characters. Eason also does a great job of creating truly evil characters, offering the reader a glimpse into their mind, as well as creating misdirections to keep the reader guessing.

Besides always creating plots featuring strong female characters, she also fills “Life Flight” with some good themes, like finding forgiveness due to true repentance; God will always be your strength and help you overcome your weaknesses; and learning to trust.

Fans of authors like Susan May Warren, Elizabeth Goddard and Lisa Harris will love “Life Flight,” which is due out Jan. 4.

Five stars out of five.

"Life Flight" is a romantic suspense. It seemed like there was some backstory to Penny and Holt's relationship, what seemed like references to scenes in a previous novel. However this was the first novel in the series. Still, I could follow the story from what we're told in this book. The high suspense came from danger to and repeated attacks on various people. The suspense was more intense because they knew that the serial killer terrorized his women victims before killing them and Penny was soon his next target. Penny and Holt needed to figure out where the bad guy was and who was helping him. The main characters were capable, likable people who reacted realistically to events. Penny and Holt worked well together. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting story.

"Life Flight" by Lynette Eason opens with pilot Penny Carlton in a torrential storm trying to make a emergency landing of a EMS helicopter to avoid a full blown crash. She has a critical young patient and her crew on board. They manage to safely land on a mountain top, but soon realize keeping their teenage patient alive until help arrives is not their biggest issue.

Serial killer Darius Rabor has escaped from a nearby prison and is in the area. The FBI has Special Agent Holt Satterfield and several of his teammates on Rabor's trail, but will they make it in time to save Penny and her crew?

"Life Flight" has great sub-plots, clean romance, and memorable action scenes. Lynette Easton gradually unfolds the history of the characters and their secrets. She does a great job keeping the reader guessing what will happen next in this very exciting Christian thriller.

Thank you NetGalley and Revell for this arc. I enjoyed the book very much!

If you are in the mood for some heart pounding suspense, Lynette Eason is back with another romantic suspense series! Life Flight’s main character, Penny, is a helicopter pilot who is suddenly targeted by a serial killer. I enjoyed this book, although I felt it was at times too predictable. The beginning of the book was interesting because it seemed like I had missed a few chapters and came in after the story already started. Some of the details are a little gory, but not terribly over the top. The romance is sweet, but a little forced at times. Overall, Life Flight is a fun read that will keep you flipping the pages til the very end.

Thank you Revell and NetGalley for giving me access to an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’m not one to normally read an action-based contemporary book but there was something about this synopsis that intrigued me. I was also not deterred by the classification of ‘Christian Fiction’ because I have a read a few in the past (from Revell and Bethany House) and have not found them to be as ‘preachy’ as I first expect. Life Flight provides interesting characters (regardless of religious background) and a plot that had me needing to finish this book in 1 sitting.

I loved how we start this book right in the middle of some action. Penny and her crew are in the air in the middle of a storm and Penny needs to make an emergency landing in an area, she will soon find out, where a known serial killer has hidden. This was a great way to set the pace for the remainder of the book because it really didn’t seem to slow down.

We also get to see this story from the POVs of Penny and Holt and I always love a dual POV, especially when there is some history and romantic possibilities. Which brings me to aspect I found unique: Holt and Penny have met previous to the start of this series and already have a fledgling relationship. This was the perfect way to establish these characters while not slowing down the plot.

I really liked both of their characters. They felt well-established and their histories were unfolded in a way that made me interested to keep learning more. Penny is also one of those leading ladies who is extremely capable. She makes smart (if a little risky) decisions and she is calculating in how she handles a situation. Holt has a quiet strength to him that he can certainly back up physically but I appreciated how he didn’t always force himself into an overbearing hero status. He trusts Penny to be able to handle herself and that puts him high in my books.

My nitpick about their characters and general relationship though is that there’s some hypocrisy and secret keeping. I’m not a fan of the secrets trope anyway but I am glad that Holt reflects on how he is a hypocrite so at least he is aware and feels some guilt. The secrets in question are also extremely personal and I wouldn’t expect them to be shared with someone else unless you know you are 100% comfortable in doing so. I really don’t blame either of them for keeping this personal information to themselves if they didn’t feel ready.

There were some moments, however, that seemed a little forced but I guess they were added for the ‘intrigue’ or just to keep the story moving. Like when Holt discovers that the serial killer has escaped, he simply says that he doesn’t really care about the ‘how’ because that was someone else’s job. I still can’t decide if that was done to keep the plot moving or because it would be too much to get into the legalese of the matter. Or how there is a part of Penny’s life that she mentions with such a throwaway line within the first chapter that felt like a forced way of telling the reader to file this information away for later. But the payoff didn’t really happen since it appears that multiple people in the story have the same background. I found this back story to be a little too convenient as a way to tie her group of friends together and not all that believable. Just seemed a little too ‘small world’ for me.

In the same vein, even though I know this is considered ‘Christian Fiction’ and we expect religion to be mentioned at the very least, I found it hard to believe that so many similarly religiously minded people found each other. It is sweet to read but I guess this says more about me than the book itself. I just know that I was raised Catholic and we are a dime a dozen but I’ve never met a young person speaks as Penny and Holt do about their Faith so I found myself having to suspend disbelief that these two found each other by chance. I still think it was done well and I appreciated how religion was not a piece of contention in this book. It is just inherently part of these characters. Simple comments made by them showed their beliefs but never felt forced.

I would say that my last nitpick is that some of the conflict plot points were a bit repetitive and almost felt like they couldn’t decide which main climax they wanted so they chose all of them haha. I would have much rather had this be the start of a series that deals with this serial killer and each of the conflicts being the overarching plot that ties all the books together. That way each conflict/climax had it’s own book and story surrounding it instead of seeing a bad guy around every corner the way we do in this book.

I also think that is my way of saying that, selfishly, I want this series to be all about Penny and Holt. I have a feeling that each following book will be about another person in the friend group but I am so invested in these 2 characters that I don’t think I will be satisfied with just getting glimpses of them in future books haha.

Overall I am very happy to have read this one and am interested in continuing with the series and possibly looking into Eason’s backlist titles.

Exciting Christian thriller

EMS helicopter pilot Penny Carlton ends up having to land her helicopter with flight crew and patient on a North Carolina mountaintop during a storm and head down the mountain looking for help.

FBI Special Agent Holton Satterfield heads to the same location looking for a serial killer on the loose.

This was a gripping Christian thriller that was written exceptionally well. I enjoyed the characters, the suspense, and the light romance between the lead characters.

This is the start of a new series called Extreme Measures and I will be watching for more.

I received this book from Revell Books through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.

Wow! I loved this story! Kicking off 2022 for Christian Fiction Romantic Suspense, master Lynette Eason has delivered a heart-pounding, high-stakes ride that shows it’s going to be a GREAT year.

In the opening pages of Life Flight, we meet EMS chopper pilot Penny Carlton as she manages to emergency land during a crazy storm on a mountaintop. On the same mountain, FBI agent Holt Satterfield is searching for an escaped serial killer. The same serial killer that almost killed him 18 months before when Penny and her team saved his life. In the time since, Holt and Penny have really hit it off- but with their busy schedules neither is entirely sure the status of their relationship.

Working together, they survive the showdown on the mountain… but that’s only the start of the truly non-stop narrative that I could hardly stand to put down! A sick, twisted killer. A doppelgänger. An unknown accomplice. Holt and Penny are going to have to unravel the mystery in order to survive the days to come.

I seriously had the worst time putting this down. I really enjoyed Holt and Penny’s relationship- how it was able to grow and mature under the pressure of their circumstances. I enjoyed how they were able to open up to one another and how realistic it felt with things they hesitated to share or weren’t sure how to bring up. It was obvious and endearing how much Holt cared for Penny- protective but not smothering, because, after all, it’s Penny who keeps saving Holt! I especially loved how tough Penny is. Her self-defense moves, her ingenuity under duress, her scrappy, fighting spirit all combine to make her a really great heroine.

The plot was interesting and unique. I had a hard time trying to figure out what the villains did and were going to do next because they were just so evil! The pace was relentless in the best sort of way, pushing me to turn pages and needing to know what would happen.

I’m looking forward to the rest of the series to find out more about the secondary characters. They all have so much potential! If this first book is any indication, the rest of the series is going to be amazing.

I received a complementary copy of this story from Revell and NetGalley. My opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a positive review.

Wow! Life Flight by Lynette Eason definitely has taken me by surprise. I always enjoy reading Ms. Eason's writings because of her knack for building such intriguing and spine-tingling plots full of action and suspense. Life Flight starts with a high stress, adrenalin filled situation and doesn't slow down from there. It is a well-written book with enough plot twists to keep the reader guessing until the last few pages.
Penny Carlton pilots an EMS helicopter has nerves of steel and can handle stress. When Penny has to make a difficult call and make a sketchy landing on an abandoned mountainside with a critical patient, am ugly winter storm, and no cell service, even her stress limits are pushed. To make matters worse, a serial killer is on the loose and he may have Penny and her stranded helicopter and crew in his sights!
FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield has dealt with many criminals in his career; however, this particular one has a history with Agent Holt. Holt was left fighting for his life because of his investigation into this killer. Needless to say, when convicted serial killer Darius Rabor somehow gets loose from his imprisonment, Holt is determined to track him down and make sure that Rabor never harms anyone again.
Holt and Penny had a casual relationship earlier, but when Holt discovers that Penny is in the crosshairs of this particularly evil serial killer, nothing will stop Holt from protecting her from danger. When Holt discovers that the man he and Penny take down together isn't the real killer, where is the real Rabor? Can Holt protect Penny from the constant attempts of Rabor to harm or capture her? Will Penny be able to escape the fate of the rest of Rabor's victims? Can Holt and Penny's beginnings of a relationship survive the intense circumstances they live through in a very short time? Can they trust each other, when they each discover secrets that the other has been hiding?
Life Flight holds the attention of nearly any reader with the mystery, suspense, high-stakes situations, as well as heartwarming stories of faith, love, and family reconciliation. I hope you have the opportunity to read Life Flight. You will not be disappointed! Happy reading!

A fast-paced romantic page-turner from the mistress of suspense Lynette Eason. Penny is definitely a strong woman and she has found her match in Holt. The story moves along quickly sucking you in, until wow...it's over. I loved the plot and all of the characters. After reading Life Flight I will probably never look at tea the same way again! I loved the theme of Faith in God that is prevalent throughout the book. If you are looking for a fantastic read look no further than Life Flight available January 4, 2022. Life Flight

I always enjoy picking up a book by Lynette Eason, knowing I am in for a suspenseful read that I will be unable to put down. Life Flight certainly lived up to those expectations. The action picked up right from the start and didn't let me go until the very end.

Dealing with a serial killer, Life Flight definitely had a different level of creepiness than many other books I read within this genre... but certainly made for a very intriguing story. While I may have figured out some of the bigger reveals fairly early on in the story, I must say there was suspicion thrown in enough directions to keep me guessing and wondering if my initial guesses were correct. I enjoyed Penny and Holt's characters and their romance, though I did find that it seemed to take more of a backseat to the suspense in this story. This worked well for this story, though I must admit I do hope to see more from them in future books in the series.

Overall, I found this to be an enjoyable read and one that fans of romantic suspense are sure to enjoy. I look forward to seeing what happens next in this new series.

**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

Penny Carlton drives a rescue helicopter, sometimes in horrendous weather conditions. When Penny has to do an emergency landing she finds herself on a mountaintop in a storm with no way of notifying anyone of the emergency landing. She has to leave her two co-workers and the patient in the bird and go on foot to find help and contact her office. Meanwhile, a fugitive is loose in the same area. There is a lot of action and suspense in this story and it is nail-biting at times, which makes for a great read. I love this author and follow her. I can't wait for the next piece of the story!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
