A Heart Adrift by Laura Frantz is a stunning historical fiction that has everything: history, romance, suspense, intrigue, mystery, and is just stunning in every way.

The reader is transported to the time of 1755 Virginia. We get to see, feel, hear, and smell the life/times/unrest that percolates in the Colonies. Esmee Shaw and Captain Henri Lennox are such excellent characters to head up this expedition. I loved their bittersweet backstory and respective histories. Their lives intersect again and a second chance at love is presented, albeit with plenty of interference and uncertainty thrown in.

There is political intrigue, there is romance, there are secrets, and there is passion…for life, love, and liberty. The descriptions, the attention to detail, the history…it is just beautiful. Can Esmee and Henri find again what they thought was lost, all while forging a new and promising life for themselves? Inreally enjoyed finding out.

I have been a huge fan of Ms. Franz for quite some time. This is such a great addition to her portfolio.
