Another beginner's graphic novel with another cute and silly duo. Crab and snail are BBFs (best beach friends) having simple little daily adventures together. This isn't anything spectacular, but beginner readers will enjoy it.

What a sweet story. Crab and Snail wonder why it's raining, and find out it's the spout from an invisible whale. They decide to all become friends, and consider it a great day. I needed a story with friendship.

Crab and Snail: The Tidal Pool of Cool is a cute and fun graphic novel for young readers. Kids will love the bright colors and adorable illustrations. They'll giggle through this sweet book while also learning how to make friends and be good friends. This book would be great in the hands of a first or second grade reader!

This book is adorably funny, but is limited by the medium, I feel like it's potential would be expanded if this was in a format like a short cartoon rather then a book.

Not overly narrated. Ferry lets the illustrations and dialogue tell most of the story. The plot is simple and though it takes some strange directions it's easy enough to follow.

This silly little story is about two friends, Crab and Snail, who live in the surf zone. They are best friends and looking for adventure. They find it with their other surf zone friends like the Barnacle Brothers and a Know it all Gull. Kids are going to love the facts and the funny conversation.

A cute and humorous look at the lives of a little crab, a little snail, a barnacle chorus and a mysterious new friend. Children will enjoy this.

This is so much fun! Crab and Snail are surfers (as in, they live in the surf zone of the ocean) and spend their days enjoying the sea life. They have lots of adventures and even make a new friend. An invisible one!

This would be a great book for newly independent readers. It's laid out in a graphic-novel style and the text is broken in to manageable chunks that will help alleviate any intimidation students feel while reading something more sophisticated than a picture book. The art is bright, detailed, and full of humor. This will reliably produce smiles and giggles even while students are practicing their new reading skills!

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

Crab & Snail: The Invisible Whale was an insanely cute graphic novel about sea creatures and friendship! The illustrations were wicked cute and the characters were adorable!

This is a cute graphic novel about a snail and crab. They are playing and then it starts raining on them. They notice its only them who are getting wet. Then a seagull informs them that the invisible whale Isabel is shooting water onto them. She wants to be friends. They become friends then she sings them a lullaby to show them her beautiful song.
So I had my kids read this book too. They laughed at the conversations between the snail and crab. This book is geared more towards kids who are younger. It is educational without being overly wordy. The book is short and their are not a whole lot of words per page. The illustration is really good. Definitely a fun story that will engage a new reader and keep them excited about books.

In the words of my seven year old, Crab and Snail are funny, cool and he loves the book. As a mom, I definitely agreed. We particularly love Snail’s deep thoughts.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

As an elementary school librarian I am constantly looking for new books to add to the collection of my libraries and this one is certainly a contender! Beth Ferry is an author that my students are familiar with and are some of their favorites so I was excited to read this new Beth Ferry book.

Starting off with my one dislike about this story. It took me a little while to get into the story and invested in the story of Crab and Snail because there was little introduction to the characters. By the end I was invested and felt that I knew the characters but in the beginning character development felt a little rushed. This may just be due to this being a younger graphic novel meant to be a longer series eventually but is one place I wish there had been more.

On to the things that I loved! I loved that this book had so many great puns and smart jokes. While I am a little worried that some of the jokes may go over young readers' heads I did like that it never felt like it was talking down to readers. I really enjoyed that this theme of not talking down to readers was continued not only in the jokes but throughout the story. Throughout the story many different ocean life were mentioned which will appeal to readers who like learning about the ocean or may even spark this interest in readers and none of them were over explained. I also think that the overall message of friendship is incredibly valuable to readers of this age. This theme was prevalent not only in making new friends but also how to value those friends you have.

In addition, the characters are adorable and well drawn. I could see some of my students who gravitate towards the Narwhal series by Ben Clanton or Peanut Butter and Jelly Fish by Jarrett J. Krosoczka will enjoy this book. Overall, I would recommend this book highly to young graphic novel readers and will be purchasing this book for my libraries when it comes out!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced electronic copy of this fun book. I really enjoyed spending time with Crab, Snail, and the barnacle brothers Drip and Grip. In this by-the-ocean adventure, best beach friends Crab and Snail make friends with Isabel, the invisible whale. I love how expressive the characters are, each with his/her own personality that clearly comes across in both text and images. Love the vivid color palette. Reminiscent of Balooney and Friends, and Mo Willems’ books, this delightful series is a must-read for any young graphic novel enthusiast! Can’t wait to share this book and the others in the series with my young readers!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! This was a lovely children’s book. I giggled at all the characters which made the book enjoyable and quick. The illustrations were also very enjoyable. The only real critique I can give is that I wish there was more to the story. You got more info on the barnacles and gull but not the invisible whale and the whale is in the title.

This is an absolutely adorable graphic novel about two friends, Crab and Snail who live on a beach in the “surf zone”! We meet some of their other friends, and get to watch them make a new one! I really liked this story. It was so cute, and the art was too! I can’t wait to read more about the adventures of Crab and Snail!

I was given an advanced reader's copy via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own

A cute story about two friends from the surf zone. The illustrations are fun and the beginning graphic novel format helps move the story along. Overall, I think my students will like it. felt the introductions took up a little too much of the book, which did not leave enough space for the plot of the story. I really wanted to know more about the invisible whale from the title.

Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
