“Wild. Live the moment. Art is the beauty of what is real.”

I went into this book not knowing what to expect and I am glad I didn’t because nothing could prepare me for what came to be. Every time I thought I knew what was happening something new would occur and I would go back to being left in the dark. I would become a black canvas.

A mix of gone girl and the girl on the train this novel is gripping and thrilling and leaves you guessing until the very end. Everything you think you believe to be true can be shattered within a few pages, words. “Aren’t we all a little crazy” Aria says and this story truly plays with your mind, makes you feel just as crazy as the main character. You are living her life with her as you follow the words on the page. You become transformed and lean into each moment so you can also piece together what is really going on.

The creation of each character was done with such ease and complexity where you were left wanting to learn more, Aria, Max, Claudia, Ivy, Lilliana, all the characters left their mark.

Thank you to NetGalley, Xpresso Book Tours, and Laura Rossi for giving me the opportunity to read this incredible novel.

This book was a dark, twisty ride. It is one that once you pick up, you can't put down. Great psychological thriller that is unlike anything else.

Creepy is the word that I am looking for. I like creepy. I want to read something along the lines of being obsessive and under control. I really enjoyed it. I have been exposed to a lot of dark and disturbing books this year and so this one is just a piece of cake. Bring it on.

My first read from Laura and I am glad I requested this. Wasn't able to read this before the publication date but I enjoyed this, nonetheless.

Cheers to Netgalley , Laura Rossi and Xpresso Book Tours for the ARC.

Description
"A story of mystery and intrigue weaved together with prose so delectable, so sublime. A must-read. A masterpiece. A thrill."Eleanor Lloyd-Jones“I dream of waking up and being someone else—my hair, my eyes, even my voice, completely different—and each time I go to the mirror to check my reflection, to see what I look like, I’m her. Every time. Her. It’s her reflection that stares back at me, but I’m the one who controls it. I’m in control, and that’s exactly why it feels so good. I control her and what happens to me; I control both lives—mine and hers—and I have what I want the most: her looks, her status, her marriage. There’s nothing left of me, and only I know the secret. Only I know it’s me inside, it’s me under that perfect porcelain skin, it’s me behind those sweet, smart deep brown eyes. And I have him. He’s mine—just mine now. I’m not the other woman anymore. I’m everything he needs."

Black canvas was a good book. A psychological mystery. I thought it was good, not great. A bit too far out there for me. But, that is just my opinion on creepiness.

“Black Canvas,” by Laura Rossi, is a psychological mystery/thriller book. The reader follows Aria, a therapist, working through her emotions about losing a patient, Ivy. Aria is, seemingly, obsessed and over-analyzing Ivy’s death to the point of re-listening to tapes from their sessions and searching for missed clues. As the story develops, the reader is led down a dark and twisty path into both Ivy and Aria’s worlds. Although I figured out pretty early on what was going on, it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book. I found this an interesting read, if a bit very detailed and, thus, occasionally slow moving. This is a book that likes to take its time weaving stories together - and there are a number of stories and plot lines to weave together. This is a dark book - it covers some pretty heavy topics and trigger warnings abound.

Absolute masterpiece!! What an enthralling ride! I scream from the high heavens READ THIS BOOK!! Sultry, dark, twisted, SURPRISE! It has it all and you will absolutely not be disappointed! This is my first Laura Rossi novel and it sure as hell won’t be my last.

The less you know the better to be completely cocooned into this affair of brilliance. Mind games and self control and desire is all warped together for such an intense read. Yes there is sex. Yes there is a dark world. Yes there is violence. Yes there is thrill and mystery and a big surprise. Yes yes yes - read this!!

Thank you Xpresso Book Tours and netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
