This loose adaptation of Swan Lake features two princesses from contentious kingdoms (one the cursed swans and one a tomboy with a prosthetic leg). To try to solve the tensions between their countries they set out on a quest. There is adventure, magic, new friendships, and fantastical items to be acquired.

This tween graphic novel will be enjoyed by those who can’t get enough fantasy and adventurous quest stories. The illustrations are bright but realistic, and the characters are as diverse as 21st century America. I will be purchasing this for my small-library juvenile collection.

This was a very cute story about friendship and a great retelling of Swan Lake. I loved that one of the mcs had a disability. As someone with a disability it's always amazing to see that sort of representation in a book for kids. Over all this was a really cute and sweet book I would definitely recommend.

I adored this! It's fast paced, adventurous, and funny. I've been saying for some time that middle grade graphic novels are doing some really special things lately, and this book just backs that up. If there's a sequel about Benno's curse being lifted, I'll be first in line to read it and recommend it through our library system.

Swan Lake is a graphic novel that has something for everyone! I was so excited to check it out after spending my childhood obsessed with the Barbie: Swan Lake movie. It didn't disappoint. This follows Odette and Odille, once enemies in the ballet, but new friends in this. The two girls embark on a quest to bring peace to their kingdoms, and obviously fight monsters, thwart villains and make new friends along the way.

I really like that this became a story of female empowerment and friendship, and showed how the girls' differences made them stronger. They learn from each other in so many ways, and I think those themes are perfect for middle schoolers. Also, this story was just so fun! I love a quest story and I loved seeing all the beautiful places our motley crew travelled through.

Lastly, this story has disability rep that I can't really speak on, but it seemed well done to me. I also thought it'd have queer rep, and while it really didn't, I can see it as a possibility as the series continues. Overall, I will be recommending it to students and look forward to seeing what comes next for this great cast of characters.

Entertaining new fantasy series about the heirs to three (& eventually four) neighboring kingdoms. All the heirs are not quite what they would prefer to be, either though curses, disability, or personal inclination. Nonetheless all three realize their differences are strengths rather than the weaknesses or vulnerabilities their royal parents assume. The story ends with a clear indication that at least one more volume is to follow.

While the graphic novel is loosely based on the original swan lake it’s a completely new amazing story. It follows the two main characters princess odette, Princess Dillie and tension between them. After figuring out who can undo Odette’s curse they run off on an adventure to help Odette be turned fully human again. With tensions growing between their kingdoms their parents blame each other for their kids disappearance. With a beautiful art style and great character design this book is truly great.

Wow! What a nonstop action packed reimagined version of Swan Lake. Rey Terciero pays homage to Tchaikovsky’s ballet and makes it exceptionally pop in a graphic novel format for middle schoolers. I loved the gender bending swash buckling sword play along with the family deception and plot twists throughout. Such fun.
