I actually didn't read the book through NetGalley. I purchased it for my own use. Matt Fitzgerald's books have been vital in my running career. With the addition of Ben Rosario's input as the wildly successful coach of the NazElite team, I am impressed! I bought the book with no hesitation. I have skimmed it, but look forward to reading it cover to cover and utilizing the training plans.

I am not a runner, but it didn’t stop me from picking up Matt Fitzgerald’s book about running. He’s authored ten books about both running and nutrition. Fitzgerald’s style is to start wherever you are at and customize a plan that words for you. While I will feel successful if I can get myself to run a few days a week, this book delves deeper into a plan for runners who want to take it to the ultramarathon arena. A books chalk full of resources and useful information for seasoned runners and perhaps a dose of cheerleading and inspiration for those of us who would rather sit on the couch a read books about running. Thank you to Berkeley and NetGalley for the advanced review copy.

As a runner with over 15 years under her Spibelt this book was a letdown. Much of the information was not new. And with a subtitle like even if you're slow, I expected more. From the perspective of a truly slow runner, I read this book looking for advice that would help me and found nothing new.

As a marathoner and former running coach, I would absolutely recommend "Run Like a Pro" to any runner (and already have!). The information presented in the book isn't groundbreaking, but it is a great compendium of solid training advice in one easy-to-read location for those who do not train with a professional running team or have access to high-level coaches. In addition to offering up solid guidance, Fitzgerald and rosario offer plenty of interpretation of the science and actionable items, no matter the reader's running level. The training plans in the back of the book are solid, as well.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. As someone who just started running during the pandemic, I found some ideas in this book to be great while others didn't work for me.
