What Remains True by Nancy Naigle. I have been reading Nancy Naigles books since Dear Santa. I love her stories each book about love and Kindness. This one is beautiful about Christianity and kindness even in a town where everyone gossips. There is so much love. Read it you will love it.

Loved it. Delightful characters with flaws and difficult back stories. Charming small town. Rodeo star meets store clerk with no expectations from either of them. A darling girl and a dog add sweetness to the tale. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.

I usually love Nancy Naigle's writing and would normally give her books 4-5 stars. However, I was torn on this one...

I was intrigues by the young woman, fresh out of a divorce and relationship she has been in since high school, moving to a new city to "start over". I loved the feel of the small town and the various characters. Honestly a place we would all love to live.

Girl meets boy in new town and starts to like him. Boy has a dangerous job (and goal) of being a rodeo star. Naturally as a reader, once they start spending more time together, you can guess where the story goes.

I enjoyed the "twists and turns" thrown in and it kept me wanting to read more to see how it turned out.

However, I did feel like the main character, Merry Anna, was judgmental regarding situations she had not experienced or knew anything about. I was also really bothered by the way her parents treated her (and her ex) and why she never confronted them and told them the truth. Also, she needed to stand up to her ex WAY earlier than she did!

All in all, the story kept my attention and the plot twists made it interesting, but I couldn't get past the judgmental side of Merry Anna and then her quoting scripture the next minute.

Really it was a 3.5 star. My NetGalley book of the week. The story of Merry Anne and Adam who don't want to fall in love because of life circumstances but can't help being drawn to each other. Life happens, Adam is a bull rider and discovers he is a father of a 5 year old and Merry Anne wants to help but is he using her for help or does their friendship mean something more? I really like the book minus the ending. I felt the ending rushed but the book in general was fun to read. Both characters were written well along with the supporting characters. You really feel for Merry Anne wanting to start over and becoming apart of the community. Yes, I did get frustrated with Adam. He is a Christian but admits of having many sexual relationships one leading to a 5 year old little girl. This is a Christian book and th is is reality for many but it was written as a normal thing all Christians do. So I did find this frustrating. But in general a fun romance that I would highly recommend!

What Remains True by Nancy Naigle takes place in Antler Creek North Carolina. Merry Anna Foster becomes enchanted with the small town as she drives through, takes a job and settles in after a nasty divorce.

Adam Locklear, a rodeo bull rider, makes plans to get to the finals. He is estranged from his parents because of his career choice, as they don't approve of his bull riding. Five year old Zan changes Adam's life and his relationship with Merry Anna.

This story is about new beginnings and relationships. Nancy Naigle has a way of communicating a Christian message as her characters face unexpected challenges.

I received a complimentary ebook copy from the publisher, through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Merry Anna is fresh from a hurtful and complicated divorce and has landed in a small North Carolina town that has offered her refuge and a job. She has a bet with her ex-husband that if she can live on what she's giving him in alimony for three months, she won't have to increase his payment. The problem with the ex is that he's lazy but a gold-digger and wants more. He's schmoozing his way into her parents' good graces in order to find her and demand more from her.

Adam Locklear is a rodeo cowboy who wants to make it to the finals this year and win big. He's Merry Anna's next door neighbor, the owner of the feed store, bull rider, and a romantic at heart. Because of his career choice, he is estranged from his parents who don't approve of the danger of his sport.

Merry Anna doesn't tell anyone in town about her divorce, her background, or where she's originally from; she wants to remain hidden, she wants to find out what she really wants in life, and she wants to be free from her ex forever.

Adam gets the surprise of his life when an old one-night-stand shows up with a little girl in tow, one that she claims is his. She leaves the girl in his care and immediately gets herself into a car wreck. Adam now has to reassess his priorities with his career, with his life, with himself. The opportunities that come disguised as problems make for some incredible food for thought.

I have come to appreciate Nancy Naigle's writings--she has characters with flaws that make them more realistic and likable. She has settings that are so beautifully described, it makes readers feel they are right there enjoying the scenery. Her plot lines move at a good pace and keep readers involved in the story throughout. I didn't find any places where the plot dragged, and I was so IN to the book, I lost sleep over it.

Five Stars, Two Thumbs Up, and a belt buckle the size of a dinner plate.

WHAT REMAINS TRUE by NANCY NAIGLE is a really enjoyable romantic novel whch takes place in the small town of Antler Creek, where Merry Anna Foster has come to get over her divorce and where Adam Locklear, the famous bull rider, has come to take over his grandfather’s Locklear Feed and Seed store. Antler Creek with its friendly inhabitants has a restorative quality which is disrupted when secrets from the past come ro shake them both.
As Merry Anna makes the most of her far more simple lifestyle and her job working for her friend Krissie at Hardy House Fine Linens and Gifts, learning to plant a garden, bake pies and ride a horse from her charming and confident neighbour Adam Locklear, and to bash down walls by her neighbour Tara who is restoring the beautiful house she bought from Adam, her new motto is “Say yes to new opportunities”.
When the beautiful little five year old Zan comes on the scene, with her unconditional love and childlike faith in God, will it chnge, not only Adam’s plans but also his relationship with Merry Anna, who feels he is taking advantage of her?
I like the easy way these characters turn to prayer and the Christian message of forgiveness, new beginnings, of the importance of relationships, especially our relationship with God who has His own special plans for each one of us.
I recomend What Remains True as a very real and inspirational read - it is a book I will read again for pure pleasure.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from WaterBrook & Multnomah. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

I was completely entranced by this story. Merry Anna and her sad divorce learning what really matters in life and
making friends. Finding love was a surprise and unexpected. She learned so much about herself in the process.
A slow burn romance between a run away executive and a cowboy bull rider with a surprise of his own.
Took me a little while to become completely absorbed but paid off in a big way.
