This one grabbed me right from the start. The whole time you keep thinking the lead character should just listen to her inner voice, but poverty and circumstances force her to push her bad feelings down. The consequences are unpredictable and spooky.

What a wild ride! This mystery suspense was off the chain and had characters that didn’t know whether to believe them or not. The author spins a chilling tale of people in love. Who’s telling the truth? Who’s lying? The story had me doubting everyone.
I thought the plot and writing were good and I highly recommend if you love suspense.
I chose to listen to this book on audio, the narrator was Angie Kane and she was great. This was 10 hours and 3 minutes long.
Thanks Dreamscape Media via Netgalley.

I loved this one. Very fast paced, had me biting my nails as I listened to it – I had to see how it would end. The characters were well rounded and the narrative felt believable. Gave me chills. Solid five

I’ve discovered a new author and I’m looking forward to reading more of her books if they’re anything like this one! This thriller had me hooked from the start. The first person narration combined with a suspenseful plot drew me in and had me wanting more.

When Sylvia is hired to care for the wealthy bestselling author Adam’s disabled wife Victoria, she is drawn into a game of cat and mouse between them. Adam seems to be a devoted loving husband but Victoria doesn’t seem happy. She shares her journal with Sylvia who is then introduced to a more sinister version of Adam…but what is the truth?

The audiobook performance was expressive. The narrator did a good job but having two different narrators for Victoria and Sylvia would’ve made the performance better.

Wow! What a thriller! Sylvia has been down on her luck for a while, and she is dealing with an ex that won't let her go, and also she needs a job! So one morning while grabbing coffee she found a lady who was choking and helped her, although the lady insisted that she assaulted her. However, there was a person that was watching the whole scene, and he validated to everyone the server and all that Sylvia saved the woman. The two ended up talking and he offered her a job to come and keep his wife company. The job offer seemed too good to be true but, she took it because she needed the opportunity.
Victoria seemed to have it all, she had a promising career, friends, and the most thoughtful boyfriend who soon turned to husband! However, while everything seemed to be picture perfect it wasn't. Victoria had little signs that her boyfriend wasn't who she thought he was. That all changed when Victoria had a terrible accident. Victoria fell down the stairs at home and she was left in a wheelchair and bedridden. This is where the two meet! Sylvia becomes Victoria's caretaker during the day and while Sylvia thinks Adam is so considerate to take care of his wife with so much care it seems like everything is not what it seems. Victoria leads Sylvia to a diary of hers that she wrote, and while Sylvia is reading the diary secrets are coming to light. Then nothing is the same! I listened to the audiobook and it was great! The narrator fit the story and I was left on the edge of my seat the last 30% of the book!!! If you enjoyed Colleen Hoover's Verity then you will love this one! Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to read and review this on

I received an ARC of the audiobook of this one in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley.

Like literally everyone else that has reviewed this book, I too saw the similarities between this story and Verity. That being said, I did read the author’s comments explaining it. Yes there are very similar themes but the author of this book has a background of working with individuals with brain injuries and I believe that shows in her writing. Also she advised that she took inspiration from Rebecca which is quoted as being the inspiration for several thrillers so to me this was not a Verity rewrite.

For me I really enjoyed the interaction that Sylvia had with Victoria. Even when she thought Victoria was up to no good, she always treated her as a person with real emotions and thoughts despite her injury.

As far as thrillers go the twists and turns were good and not as predictable as one would expect and there is another twist at the very end that loops everything back around and wraps it up nicely.

Overall I really did enjoy this one!

The story is okay. It is predictable as the story is very straightforward up until the end. There is a twist; however, I saw it coming. The story surrounds the life of Victoria and Adam. However, I do not think those characters are fully developed. Victoria and Adam's background is not fully written and therefore leaves multiple holes. What is the trigger for Adam and Victoria? Why are they like that? Comparing to the author's other books, this one just isn't as great as the others.

Angie Kane did a wonderful job as a narrator. The pitch of her voice when reading from different characters' points of view is different enough to where I can differentiate between the characters. The pace at which she read was perfect.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book. The narration was very good.
I don’t like to compared books but this one felt like a combination of Verity, Behind Closed Door and The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins; so if you like any or some of those this is the book for you. To me, the similarities to these three books were big enough to made me feel I already read/listen to the book but it did have some twist I didn’t expect, juggling back and forth between who did what, I do have to say it kept me engaged until the very end.
Publication date: November 23rd 2021 in audio format.

Wow! Thank you Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for an audio-ARC of Freida McFadden's The Wife Upstairs audiobook.

When I say this one is hard to put down or press play on, I mean it! I binged this in a day easily. Short chapters, each ending on a cliffhanger, make it so easy to dedicate your full attention to the story.

Creepy, fantastically written and twisty - I loved this one. The narrator does a great job! I've seen some comparisons to Verity, and while I can absolutely see some similarities this is its own story with unique twists and turns. My first of Freida's books and now I need her entire backlist!

4.5/5 stars for me!

My thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to review this audio.

Story told from 2 perspectives, Victoria, the victim of an accident, and her caregiver Sylvia, hired by her husband Adam to care for her. Victoria s story is told thru a diary of hers that Sylvia finds. This story will constantly have you questioning who is the really villain?

Excellent thriller but predictable as story comes to the end.

I just happened to stumble across this book on Netgalley. It’s been out since March, so I’m guessing it’s on Netgalley because it’s new on audio.

But Holyyyyy Moly!! It is so good! 🙌
It’s very similar to Verity, with a dash of Behind Closed Doors 👀 Yep!

I almost stopped reading this book as I realized that the author definitely got her inspiration from Verity and I had read other reviews that it was basically the same book. However, I much preferred this book to Verity as it does not have as a disturbing plot and it is definitely a predictable ending if you have read Verity, but I still enjoyed getting there. I also enjoyed the narrator and it was an easy book to listen to. It didn't have too many characters or too many POV. I have already recommended this book to others and would definitely suggest it to someone who loves psychological thrillers.

Sylvia Robinson has been hired by Victoria Barnett’s husband to care for an accident renders Victoria incapable of performing the simplest tasks, including feeding herself, moving or talking. Ironically before her accident, Victoria herself was a healthcare provider, who enjoyed a seemingly idyllic life with her husband. Now, she lies motionless in the house she used to call home. Sylvia soon discovers that Victoria is trying desperately to tell her something, but it’s not until she discovers Victoria’s hidden diary that the whole terrible truth comes out. This is a terrifying story, told with urgency and real fear by Kane

Just when you think you've got it figured out... and you can't stand the protagonist anymore... the tide shifts.
Who is really the bad guy here? Who was the guilty party? Oh goodness... NO! That did not just happen.
This was such a unique thriller. At times, it was too obvious, but then it thickens.
Fast paced enough that it kept the reader wanting to know what happens next, sneaky enough to keep you guessing even after you think you have it figured out.
Tidies up at the end, fairly nicely, with a twist of irony....
I listened to this as an audiobook performance, narrated by Angie Kane. The performance was well done and I enjoyed the listen.
Thank you to Net Galley, Dreamscape Media, and Freida McFadden for the advanced listening copy. My opinion and rating are my own.

Wow. That was one wild ride. This book totally gave me Verity vibes. I loved every minute of it. The narrator was amazing. I couldn’t stop reading it. Lots of suspense. Highly recommend.

I loved it, but I am struggling to rate it because I felt like I was listening to Colleen Hoover's Verity, which was a five star read for me. I guess I will just put that aside, and rate as if I had never read Verity. This book is right up my alley as I love Domestic Thrillers. This book had so many twists and turns all the way through the epilogue. I loved how it switched off between Sylvia's POV and Victoria's journal. I thought it was very well done, and I would definitely recommend it to my thriller loving friends!

What a fantastic book!! I finished it in one day - I couldn't stop - I had to know. I was caught up right along with Sylvia trying to figure out who was lying and who was telling the truth. Twists, turns and the ending was worth the wait. Loved it!! Can't wait to read another of her books.
