Highland Champion by Cynthia Breeding is a charming highland romance featuring a brawny, dark-haired, sexy Scot - Alisdair MacGregor - and a young lady bound for the adventure of her first season in London. Little does Lorelei know but she is already being pursued by a determined highlander. 😉 What will she desire more, freedom & adventure, or love, passion, and happily ever after?

I have read and loved each book in this series along with many other books from this author and each story unfolds in an entertaining tale where the MCs fall madly and passionately in love. I mean what else could one want in a perfect highland romance?

Can’t wait for her next book!

I am always looking for a new author that writes Scottish romance novels as it's my wheelhouse. I was not disappointed with this one!! The author's writing was very engaging from start to finish. With enough detail to make you understand the characters views in this book. There was never a slow point in this book & we all know how important that is. I love how the character played out with each other & there was just enough spice to keep me reading on. I could have used a little more spice, but that's just me. I would tell anyone that is looking for a Scottish romance that this would fit the bill.

This book is a great read for fans of Highland romances. I really like the relationship between Lorelei and Alasdair; they seem really sweet together.

I didn't read first two books but author makes brief summary, so reader isn't left out and can start enjoying this story from the beginning.
What I really liked in this story was main heroines character and strong will. Lorelai is independent and powerful, not afraid to say what she wants and feels. Reader explores her first season in London and gets hyped with the excitement of young girl exploring the big city. Loreai and Fiona embrace new world with gowns and balls and freedom- when- Fiona's brother Alasdair returns from Scotland to reclaim some land and makes Lorelai his wife!

After series of events and meetings, there is starting to spark and energy is fuming between them! I did like their banters and slow realization of mutual feelings, but I have one observation- they were hardly alone! It was had to be in others company with so many people around.

Overall, this was a nice historical novel and it includes my favourite trope- wallflower and " best friends brother".

Highland Champion, the latest story in Cynthia Breeding’s Children of the Mist series, is actually set in 1775 London, where Lorelei Caldwell and her sister in law Fiona McGregor have gone for the Season. This story is a lovely twist on the star-crossed lovers trope as Lorelei and Fiona set Alasdair up with the beautiful but spoiled Lady Melissa in order to divert his attention away from them.
I loved Lorelei, both because she was such a strong character and because she was compassionate and considerate of those around her. She was also highly spirited, willing to step out of the bounds of society’s expectations to see a side of London normally hidden from the eyes of the ton.
Alasdair McGregor was positively swoon worthy—handsome (of course), a knight in shining armour and yet with a soft heart. I loved the interplay between him and Gavin Campbell, his nemesis. I wasn’t so impressed with how he handled the situation he found himself in with Lady Melissa, though I’ll admit he was backed into a corner.
This story moved along at a cracking pace thanks to secondary plots involving involving Alasdair’s efforts to reclaim land for his clan and a plan to kidnap Fiona as retaliation for a former slight by her family to a member of Clan Campbell.
I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series and this one was just as good. I’m sure there’ll be more. I can’t wait to read Fiona MacGregor’s story among others but in the meantime, this was a very satisfactory read.

As the synopsis states- for the next few months, Lorelei and her best friend can indulge in balls, flirting, and enjoying the delights of London society without any family interference. And that pretty much sums up this book. Then Alasdair arrives to keep an eye on the girls and he ends up following them all over London all the while pining away for Lorelei.
I'd have to say that this book of the Children of the Mist series disappointed me. I have read the others and thought them to be well done and had an adventurous plot. This one does not. Page after page is nothing but balls and outings and dialogue between the girls. When Alasdair and Lorelei finally do have a scene together the chemistry just isn't there and by that time I was so over the book.
Cynthia Breeding writes well and I have liked her books but this one just fell flat in terms of story.
I received an advanced copy in exchange for my review.

A free flowing romantic story. The story seemed to fly by with me. I like that the conversations among the characters felt natural and real. The story was easy to read. I like the witty out look of the characters and Alsdair is a book character that I can fantasize about for a while.

I had read the previous & really enjoyed so I was looking forward to this one. This book I feel was more about the London season and Lorelei enjoying her freedoms. The romance seemed to take second place here….I was kinda sad about it. However the Season, adventures, and the drama were great! The romance is super slow burn also. I do believe when Lorelei and Alasdair are together they have chemistry for sure!! Alasdair is such a honorable guy! He believes he is in love with Lorelei and pursues her so he can win her hand!! Lorelei is strong and independent. She wants her freedom. This book had wonderful background descriptions along the way!! All in all a good read!

Loved this story, Highland Champion by Cynthia Breeding. It was well written and had a strong plot. The characters were likeable and well developed. This story had a slow but steady pace. It was a romance story but had some humor also. I will read more from this author.

This is the second book I have read by Cynthia Breeding and I am still a fan of her work! I was excited to see that Lorelei was getting a story, and I'm really enjoying getting to know each MacGregor brother!

In Highland Champion, Lorelei goes to London for the Season with the MacGregor sister Fiona, and Alasdair goes along as well to settle some land disputes now that the clan name has been restored. We know from previous books that there has already been one stolen kiss between the two, so I was very excited to see how the relationship between them played out given their history.

This was a slow burn romance, and aside from their own thoughts about each other, I found that there wasn't a lot of physical interaction between the two. One thing I will say is that I really wanted more - but the storyline and twists and turns is what really kept my interest here, so I didn't end up minding as much. I found that Fiona and her suitors actually seemed to play almost as big a role as Lorelei and Alasdair's which was interesting. I don't often read a book where a supporting character takes such a front stage role but I absolutely adored Fiona and I loved trying to work out the intentions of Gavin and Erik so this was honestly more of a help to the book than a hindrance in my opinion.

While I enjoyed reading the whole book, I have to say that things picked up quite a bit at the end and became very exciting! I still have some questions - mainly about Lady Melissa and Lord Westwood and what exactly the history is there but perhaps we will find out in a future book? Overall, I think this was a good read, with lots of nice little historical details scattered throughout. I look forward to continuing the series!

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 3 in the Children of the Mist series. I did not enjoy this one as much as the previous. In this one we have Lorelei who just wants to enjoy the season. Alasdair has fallen for Lorelei and wants to marry her however Lorelei is not interested just yet. I think I didn’t like it because Lorelei was so young and just kept doing stupid stuff but I did not like how controlling Alasdair kept trying to be. This was a solid read just not my favorite.

Highland Champion is the third book in the Children of the Mist series. Lorelei Caldwell is in London with her two friends to enjoy her first season. Her goal, along with her friend Fiona, is to make the most of her first season by dancing, flirting, and taking in all the more scandalous sites around London before she is forced to settle down. Fiona's brother, Alasdair, follows Lorelei from Scotland to try and gain back his clan lands before declaring his affection for her.

This book had a bit of a slow start for me. I never read the previous books in the series and it took a little bit to decipher all the backstory that I was missing out on. This book had a lot of names thrown at you from the very beginning and it was slightly confusing. I really enjoyed Alasdair and his pining for Lorelei. I loved that he wanted to give her space to have her fun since she's so young before trying to win her over. Unfortunately, that space meant that there were not nearly enough scenes in the book were the couple were actually together. Some of the side stories were very convoluted and felt unnecessary. I think this series definitely benefits from reading the books in order since the main conflict derives from a previous book conflict.

All in all, this book had some funny and sweet moments but needed some more work in the chemistry department. I would be willing to try reading another of the books in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for this ARC in exchange for my honest reviews.

The characters were great but I feel like the story line dragged a bit. I was expecting something with a bit more of excitement to happen. There is a lot of potential for the next story.

This is the 3rd book in the Children of the Mist series.
Fiona and Lorelei have come to London for the season. And while 2 of Lorelei's sisters have married 2 of Fiona's brothers in Scotland, they plan on having adventures.
Alastair has 2 reasons for being in London remaining his clan's lands and winning Lorelei.
This book wasn't as good as the last 2 in the series. I just don't feel like they sent enough time together. The plot also seemed to drag on and on. I think this book would have been better with some significant edits.
Overall I give this book 3.5 stars and will check out the next story.

Lorelei Caldwell and her friend, Fiona MacGregor have come to London to enjoy the season. they have met some wonderful people. The two girls did not come for the season, they were not ready for husbands. But adventures were something else. Lady Bute had a daughter, bluestocking all the way. They planned to conspire together. Lady Louisa Bute her father had been the prime minister and an Earl. She knew they would have some protection from the ton.

Alasdair MacGregor had arrived just a day or two behind them. Fiona knew how her brothers were,
he would not let them do anything. Her brother felt he needed to protect them even if it was against themselves. He was staying with Lady Bute's son. He was here to try to get their deeds straighten out. Now that his family could claim their land again.

It was certainly an exciting read. There were all kinds of problems. Abducting, fighting with pirate-like men, fighting off very bad men. Alasdair almost ended up married. There were also scandals.
The author did a superb job of writing and keeping it all straight. It flowed smoothly, was interesting, and was very easy to read. The characters were great. I love this tale and look forward to her next novel.

I received this ARC from Net galley and voluntarily reviewed it.
