After my favourite instalment in the series so far, Lost Angels, which was released earlier this year, I couldn't wait to see where Special Agent Nikki Hunt's story would go next!

Picking up three months after the shocking events of Nikki's last case, The Girl In The Ground is another entertaining thriller full of clever developments, shocking twists, and strong characters.

Already a fan of the series, it's not the most gripping or emotionally engaging instalment in the series so far, but it's still a brilliant detective thriller all the same and another really enjoyable read from Stacy Green. The crime is dark and gripping, and it's great to see how the characters are moving on from their grief.

It can definitely be read as a standalone, but if you haven't gotten into this series yet, I highly recommend that you do!

The Girl in the Ground picks up three months after the shocking events of Lost Angels with Nikki still trying to come to terms with who the serial killer Frost really was, the kidnapping of her daughter Lacey and the devastating killing that followed and on the eve of her return to work Nikki is dragged into a case that could have huge complications both personally and professionally when bones are found on boyfriend Rory's current job site, and with Rory understandably reluctant to talk or trust local law enforcement and concerned the body may belong to someone from his past Nikki is stuck firmly in the middle; and things only go from bad to worse when an FBI Agent and old flame rocks up wanting her help with a trafficking case that impacts Nikki who is then contacted by her boss for help when a pregnant woman disappears.

And with such a taut storyline, huge twists and plenty of shocks this was a cracking read, that I couldn't put down and I for one can't wait for book five.

Would definitely recommend.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of The Girl in the Ground, the fourth novel to feature Special Agent Nikki Hunt of the Minnesota FBI.

After a leave of absence Nikki is due back at work, but the day before her boyfriend, Rory, discovers human remains at the construction sight he is working on. She is surprised when Rory recognises them as belonging to his childhood girlfriend, Becky and that he was the last person to see her. He is obviously keeping secrets and becomes a suspect, so Nikki gets involved in a people trafficking case and the disappearance of a pregnant woman.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Girl in the Ground, which is another exciting, absorbing read, full of twists and turns. I was glued to the pages, waiting to know what was coming next. This is partly due to the novel being told entirely from Nikki’s point of view, allowing the reader to concentrate on what she has to say and get fully immersed and partly due to the non stop developments and reveals in the plot.

The story is absorbing, moves at a fast pace and builds logically, but it relies on assumptions, guesswork and lucky breaks to a large extent. I don’t say this as a criticism, because it works fine this way, more as an advisory for readers who want realism in their read. I do, however, think that the ending is a bit rushed as the solution comes in a couple of pages and the final showdown is a touch anticlimactic.

I like Nikki Hunt and her partner, Liam. They have a healthy suspicion of everyone they talk to and an ability to see through the lies and obfuscations they are told and yet they are still empathetic when required. He takes more of a background role in this novel because the focus is on Nikki and her relationships with Rory and her young daughter, Lacey, who is still coming to terms with the loss of her father.

The Girl in the Ground is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

I dropped in, mid series, but through the Information within the text, could discern enough if Nikki’s backstory. There’s a lot of trauma leading up to this book. Nikki goes back to work and is plunged head first into murder, sex trafficking, kidnapping, and a host of other transgressions. I was on my toes reading each chapter eagerly to fit all the clues together. The story was fast paced and definitely kept my interest. I’ll have to add the first three books in the series on my never ending to catch up pile.

Nikki has been on leave after the tragic events in the previous book. She is back working and gets immediately dragged into a new and horrible case. Her boyfriend Roy's ex-girlfriend went missing over 20 years ago and she is found dead. Roy is a suspect. Nikki has another case which turns out to not be a different case after all.

This is a good read, a solid murder mystery, well-written with an interesting story. There are lots of twists and turns. I felt like this book was a bit different from the previous ones. There was a bit of melancholy after everything that has happened, and now Roy is not being straight with happened over twenty years ago.

Agent Nikki Hunt is back with another case!

Plot:- After handling the last case that left Nikki traumatized, Nikki is back at the precinct again. This time, a young woman's remains were found in the ground where her boyfriend, Rory works. But there's a problem--the woman happened to be Rory's ex-girlfriend named Becky and Rory is the main suspect. Nikki wanted to help Rory, believing that he is innocent but he is refusing to cooperate with the police. Meanwhile, another woman named Joyce goes missing and soon, Nikki realizes that Becky and Joyce's cases are related and that there's a serial killer on loose...

Writing:- I enjoyed reading all the three books in the series and this book is no exception!! I was literally hooked to the story from the beginning to the end, wanting to know what is going to happen next! The thing about this book is, there are not much suspects so you have to literally rack your brains to see, who is the suspect. It's like a whole cat and mouse chase. It was fast paced, with twists and thrillers that you wouldn't expect. The ending was great, dramatic and I kind of feel like I was watching this action movie and going on a roller coaster ride while reading this book.

Characters:- Nikki Hunt is one of my favorite FBI agents and there's no other characters that I found unlikable.

Overall:- this was a roller coaster ride filled with twists and turns that you would be up all night reading this book!!! Worth five stars!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

The Girl in the Ground is the fourth book in the series. This book can easily be a stand alone but the series is so good you will want to start at the beginning.

Nikki and her daughter Lacey are still recovering from the loss of ex husband and father respectively. Nikki is returning to work after several months leave only to be pulled into a case of a missing surrogate and soon to be delivered child of a wealthy couple.

Meanwhile Rory calls to say that he has been injured on the construction site and can she go there to check up on the worksite and meet Miller, the sheriff. Nikki wants to know why the sheriff is there, to which Rory states he discovered some bones which probably are human. These will eventually bring up the past of a missing ex girlfriend for Rory, but is he the father and is he to blame for he being missing.

The two cases will twist and turn and will look as if they are tied to the past and the present missing girls/women. Nikki will have to keep herself focused to find the missing surrogate and child while trying to save Rory.

This is a wonderful series. I love all the characters. With each story they become richer and deeper with the history that is revealed. I look forward to reading the next book of the series.

4 stars

This was a solid addition to the series of FBI profiler Nikki Hunt book. Nikki's boyfriend Rory finds bones on a construction site that belong to his high school girlfriend who went missing 24 years ago. Nikki and her team are called in to find a missing surrogate for a wealthy family.

Series favorite Courtney wasn't in the book much. I did not like new character Nash, an old FBI friend of Nikki. He was rash, unprofessional and tiresome. Overall well done book.

Oh I love Nikki Hunt - and each one gets better! This one centres a bit more around Rory when he finds some remains at his job site which turn out to be his ex who went missing years ago!
It was a gripping read although there was a lot going on and each one makes me even more excited for the the next one!! Maybe a wedding - that would make me even happier ❤️

Another gripping read from Stacy Green!  I really enjoy the Nikki Hunt series, and this was another page turner.  There's lots of twists, and secrets come out from Rory's past - it kept me hooked to the very end.  Nikki has a great team around her, both in & out of her job, and I love seeing their interactions & how we see everyone grow with each new book in the series.  I can't wait for the next one!

It wasn't as gripping as I thought it would be. The characters annoyed me a bit and I thought the story was a bit slow.

After being away from her job for 3 months, FBI agent Nikki Hunt returns to the job running when her boss calls her to a kidnapping of a surrogate mom of very wealthy parents. While Nikki is working this job, bones are found on a worksite that could be tied to her boyfriend Rory, The book is a awesome ride to the end with twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages.
Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to review this book for my honest opinion.

Special Agent Nikki Hunt is called to a scene by her boyfriend Rory. The fact that even more bones have been found , and this may be Rory's high school girlfriend causes Nikki. to be jerked back into the loss of her husband and the abduction of her daughter. She is just starting back at the bureau and not sure how she is going to deal with all of the memories, much less keep her head in the game.
This story is packed with characters and situations that could easily be confusing and overwhelming. However, Ms. Green does an amazingly spectacular job of weaving everyone and everything together so smoothly, you literally cannot stop reading, and have no problems following the story for one minute!
I read this book in one sitting because I simply could not put it down.
I will definitely be reading this author again!

Another great read in an excellent series! Nikki has her hands full. Working on healing for her and her daughter. She is set to go back to work. All at once it's her first day back, a body is found with ties to Rory, a former friend asks for help in his case, and her boss calls her for help in a missing woman's case. Wow! Stacy Green weaves plotlines seamlessly. There is so much suspense and tension. The action is fast paced. There are several twists. The ending is great. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Another fantastic five star read in the Nikki Hunt series. A real page turner which i found very hard to put down. This series keeps going from strength to strength. Heartbraking and gripping in equal measures and one heinous killer. I finally turned the last page at 2.am. Yes this book is that good. For me my favourite in the series so far. A well deserved five stars and a MUST READ and so looking forward to finding out what happens next in this gripping and very addictive series.

Nikki is starting back at work months after her loss. She’s pulled into a case with an old colleague along with a dead body found on Rory’s worksite. She’s into the thick of things right away. This page turning, twisty thriller kept me guessing throughout. I’m hooked on this series!

Yet another brilliant book by Stacy Green , I love Nikki Hunt and her close team , their relationships seem authentic .
We pick up after the terrible incidents in the last book with both Nikki and her daughter in therapy to deal with the fallout of Nikki’s last case
When a body of a young woman is found buried on Nikki’s boyfriends building site she has to step back and let her team do the investigating , Nikki is soon involved in a trafficking case and it seems certain the two cases may be linked
Brilliant writing , fast paced and a satisfying conclusion 5 stars

Book 4 in the Nikki Hunt series. I have read the previous 3 and loved them all.
Nikki is back on the job after taking some time off from a personal tragedy that happened in book 3.
A body is found at a construction site. And it just happens to be her boyfriend Rory's ex girlfriend from high school.
.With all that Nikki is dealing with personally, this case will be a tough one.
I love seeing how the characters are evolving with each installment of the series.
I can't wait for the next one.

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the advance copy.
