Book 5 in the wonderful Casey White series and the drama is non stop. I was hooked from the first chapter and it kept me reading way past bed time.

I love the mixture of gripping investigations and personal relationships in these books.

A real page turner with plenty of twists to keep you guessing right to the end.

I can't wait to read book 6.

I keep asking myself why I didn't know about this book! This is so good! Would've been a better experience if I was able to read the series from the start. But, either way, I enjoyed it! I loved Casey White's character. Having a likable character is important to me if I would ever invest my time and emotions to a series, if the main character is annoying and unappealing, I will easily lose interest. This was not the case with Casey, I liked her.

The story is fast-paced and exciting, every page is gripping and although the crimes were heavy and brutal, the way the author delved into the details of the investigation is outstanding. It is obvious that a thorough research and groundwork has been done to explain how crime investigation and forensic works. Really brilliant!

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

Detective Casey White will have a very emotional journey through this book. A lot of her past will surface to affect her future forever.

It looks like there is a serial killer on the loose, but that is just the start of the complications she and her team will face.

This is a police procedural / murder mystery. There is a lot of danger for our heroine and those around her. The story will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first to last page.

This is part of an ongoing series set around this detective. I will certainly be reading the others.

Very Exciting.

I did enjoy this book but did find it very complicated with so many semi main characters and the relinking to previous books. I am going to read the previous 4 books so that it makes more sense.

I was given an advance copy by the publishers and netgalley but the review is entirely my own.

Casey is called to a scene - in the woods. A naked body hog tied - with a birthmark Casey remembers but can't place. And then she sees his face - her ex husband Ronald. Shocked, Casey has no idea why he is in the Outer Banks and not his home, Philadelphia.
Casey discovers Ronald was chasing another lead on their daughter's, Hannah, kidnapping case. Which leads to Rourke Hospital - and a missing nurse.
I can't say anymore without giving anything away.
Fast paced, intense, massively rewarding.
Loved it!

We have reached book #5 in the Detective Casey White series, and once again Casey and team are determined to solve the case. This time, Casey is called to the scene of a suspected murder. What she finds changes the course of her life. The momentum continues in this book and the hits just keep on coming for Casey and team… sometimes hitting a bit too close to home.
While you don’t need to read the full series to enjoy this book by far you will get more from the books if you start from book #1.

Thanks Netgalley and publisher for the opportunity to read. Looking forward to the adventures in the next book.

4.5⭐
The Memory Bones is an extremely well-written and brilliantly descriptive police procedure. That sees Detective Casey White work to solve a murder that hits close to home whilst hoping to at last find out what happened to her daughter Hannah who was kidnapped from her front yard in Philadelphia more than fifteen years ago and then later seen outside a hospital in the Outer Banks.

And with a great investigative team and a compelling storyline full of twists and surprises that easily kept me guessing I was hooked throughout and I'm glad that even though the big mystery in this series has been solved, there is still more to come, and I can't wait to return to Casey, Jericho and the rest of the team in the Outer Banks in 2022.

Would happily recommend.

Yet again I jump midstream into a fantastic series. This is my first Casey White mystery, but it won’t be my last. I was drawn to the series initially because Of it’s location in the Outer Banks. I was also intrigued by the plot. Will Casey ever discover what happened to her kidnapped daughter? The story is fast paced and dangerous. Murders, arson, money, revenge, and retribution. I was able to gather enough of Casey’s backstory to keep up with the story line. I liked her team and was sad that it was changing. A major revelation comes in this story. I am eager to read the next book!

When Detective Casey White was married her daughter 3 years of age disappeared and was never found. Casey is called out to the saltmarshes where a body of a man has been found only to discover it is her ex husband. Casey needs to find out what he was doing there, who killed him and why. While investigating this murder another skeleton is found in the same area are the crimes connected . As the investigation continues Casey finds that there is a lot more danger around than she realises.
A terrific read keeping you turning pages until you get to the end. Loved it.

It took a while for me to really get into this novel. A lot of time is spent explaining the torture and death technique. Gruesome and extremely well researched, I personally would have liked it to have moved forward at a quicker pace in the first half.
Once we get to the nitty gritty and find out what has been going on, the book moves into a different gear, despite the unthinkable subject matter.
There are so many crime novels where the detective is somehow connected to the victim, it sometimes, I find, becomes a bit of a distraction.
Don’t be put off, these are just personal opinions and this is an extremely well written novel, that will shock you and surprise you.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookoutre for providing me with an Advance Reader's Copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of The Memory Bones, the fifth novel to feature Detective Casey White of the Outer Banks, North Carolina, Sheriff’s Office.

Casey is called to a murder scene and is horrified to discover that the victim is her ex-husband, father of her missing daughter, Hannah and he isn’t the only victim as they discover bones buried nearby. A note in his apartment mentions Rourke Hospital, the last place Hannah was seen alive, so Casey is determined to investigate.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Memory Bones, which is an absorbing read with some good twists. It is told from Casey’s first person point of view, so the reader gets an up close and personal view of not just the investigation, but also the tumult in Casey’s life.

The plot moves along at a fast clip with developments and reveals in every chapter and is ostensibly the hunt for a killer, but, as with the previous novels, it is really about Casey’s decades long search for her daughter, Hannah, who was abducted as a three year old. Needless to say, this case dovetails in with the search, although I definitely wasn’t expecting what transpires and will be very interested to learn how the author intends to take the series forward.

I found the plot absorbing with one exception. The method of killing involves ropes and knots and the novel gets quite repetitive on the subject, which is difficult for me as illness has robbed me of visualisation skills. I still have absolutely no idea how the murders happened and I almost broke my brain trying to understand. I hope that other readers have better luck. Otherwise the plot is easy to follow and entertaining.

I like Casey and her close knit team. They work well and are ever supportive of each other. Unfortunately there is a lot of change in this novel in that regard, so it will be a fresh start in any future novels.

The Memory Bones is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

This book is the 5th in the series of Detective Casey White and the first book that I have read from this author! Although it is part of a series, I do believe that you can read this book as a stand-alone as the author does a fantastic job at character development and giving you enough background to understand what is going on in their lives. The author does a great job at storytelling and I was sucked into the story from the first chapter! I was so emotionally invested in this story even though it was the first book that I’ve read. However, it also makes me want to go back and read all the other books in the series which I plan to do at some point! There are so many twists and turns in this book that the author keeps you guessing as to what is going to happen next. Spangler does a great job at detailing what all the detectives are thinking and planning that it feels like you are in the story with them. I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to read more books by B. R. Spangler!

I have really enjoyed my introductory visit to the world of Detective Casey. I have not read the books before, but now they will all find them selves on my TBR. I was so devastated for her when she comes across the body of her ex-husband and to find out her history with her daughter's kidnapping. For that alone, I am going to dig into the prior books! This book will take you ride thru the ups and downs as Detective Casey figures out the case.

Another explosive thrill ride that kept me reading late into the night. Jam packed to the rafters with tension and suspense and so much misdirection which made me dizzy. Heart stopping moments and constantly holding my breath. Detective Casey White has a heartbraking back story which runs through all of this series. All I can say is that this author has saved the best for last. The main story had me sat on the edge of my seat and I literally have no nails left. Definitely my favourite in the series. A MUST READ and so highly recommended.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

Usually BR Spangler's books can be read as stand alones or as part of a series but with this book you really need to have read thre earlier ones. I was breathless with anticipation that we would finally find out what had happened to Hannah. I feel as if I have been through all the heartstopping moments of hope as well as the gut-wrenching disappointments when the trail went cold. Every time Casey uncovered another piece of the heinous cover up I was on the edge of my seat. I'm not sure if this was the best book I've read this year but the series is certainly one of my favourites. 5 star all the way

Wow! Double wow! Triple wow! This was such an amazing book!

It had me in it's claws from the very beginning and it was wonderful, harsh, heartbreaking and heart warming at the same time. My heart and head went through so many emotions here. It was just crazy.

People do a lot for money, but sometimes I really cannot get it in my head how far they would go. Do they even care how much pain they can cause? Maybe they feel less guilty because on the other hand they make people happy? No, I don't think they are able to feel anything. They only thing they see are big fat dollar signs...

Casey and her team have a tough nut the size of a coconut to crack and more than once they find themselves in very dire situations and more than once it’s touch and go. They work together as a very well oiled machine and the culprits really don’t stand a chance. They can run, but they will get caught without a doubt.

I shed a few tears. Were they happy ones? Sad ones? Or maybe a bit of both? I wonder which ones you will shed. 😊

Loved it. 5 stars.

Thank you
