It took me a minute to get into this book, but once it had my attention, it didn't let go. The pacing was great - never a dull moment - and it was totally unpredictable! I had no idea how it would end until the very last satisfying page. Jessica got on my nerves at times for being a bit judgmental and reliant on her clearly clueless psychic for advice, but her character development was HUGE. There were moments I chuckled out loud. I could tell this book was written a while ago as it wasn't quite as feminist as the current market trends, but it was such a fun ride all the same and I'm so glad I picked it up.

This was so freaking cute! I will have a review up on my bookstagram account @meetcuteromancebooks closer to the pub date. I liked that this book tackles real world issues like when you don’t get that promotion despite the fact that you are more than qualified for it and dealing with a guy who takes you for granted.

I wanted to love this book, but I just couldn't get into it. I also question why the writer set this in the time period she did. I know this more of a indictment of me rather than Zepeda, but I would have probably like this book more if it was set in contemporary times. Zepeda should make note of the time period join the blurb. Maybe has I known that going in I would have not been so thrown. I loved the multiculturism that the author added. It was there, but it wasn't so heavy that you it couldn't be enjoyed by all.

On to the book: I never really connected to Jess, I dont know what it was about her character. I kind of wanted to just be like Jess your a grown women, make a choice and go. And I thought the physic would have been a very slight sub plot, but it was more in the plot line than I thought. All in all it was a ok book, I recognize talent in the author and I will read more of her work, this one just wasn't it for me.

1.5 ⭐s!

As Jessica is finding her way in life as a whole, she finds herself caught with a choice between men that embody polar opposites. She frequently seeks the guidance of a fortune teller as she struggles with confidence in herself and her decisions.

Wasn't for me, but I hope that others enjoy the book! Wasn't as fast paced and light hearted as I hoped for and doesn't have the typical romcom narrative arc or ending. I also felt that the role of the fortune teller was a bit overdone or overstated in that Jessica seemed to run to her almost too often. I understand that it is a big part of her life and where she finds comfort, but it detracted from the plot for me. I loved the Spanish snippets of conversation at the beginning, the cultural inclusions, and exploration of her parents' relationship.

Many thanks to Gwendolyn Zepeda, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and NetGalley for this ARC!

A heartfelt and comedic take on live as a millennial and not taking what's in the cards at face value. This felt like it hit both too close to home and also like something I needed to clear my head. A funny, romantic and warm read.
