I loved The juggle so was excited to read winging it and it certainly didn’t disappoint! Frank funny and totally relatable, written in such an amusing way that you are instantly drawn in and can’t wait to find out what happens next!
David, saoirses husband has found a new job after being out of work, however it is in New York which means a massive upheaval for the whole family and leaving behind friends and the support group they offer, the offer from the firm sounds too good to be true and the reality doesn’t live up to expectations initially, poor saoirse is alone with just Anna for company whilst David establishes himself in his new role, homesick and missing her friends saoirse starts to decline and regret the decision to move but after a surprise visit from her best friends and a move out of the city, life takes on a new meaning as friends are made, revelations are revealed and a sense of community and belonging emerge showing that with bravery tenacity and sheer will power you can tackle anything!
Loved all the hilarious moments, realism and down to earth ness!
Thank you netgalley for this early read.

I didn't initially realize this was part of a series, but it did make sense as a standalone story. However, I think I would've connected with the characters more if I'd read the prior book. The pace was much slower than I expected, but it was a fun story overall.

I absolutely loved this book. I read the book Time Out, which is the first book in this series and I adored Saoirse, Bea, Jen and Dee. They are four normal women facing all the struggles that women face with humour and love. Just like the first book, the author adds the humour that small children can bring to your day mixed in with the hassles of being a mother to create a wonderful book.

When her husband gets a new job after being laid off Saoirse is excited, even though it means moving to New York from London. Excited to get to their new, paid for by the Firm apartment, things start to fall apart when she realizes it’s only one bedroom. With David away all the time she has to try and adapt with only zoom and texts with her friends to keep her sane and Anna amused. The book goes on to show how important it is to have something in your life besides being a mother and how important friends and family truly are.

I laughed and I wanted to cry no hug these ladies several times throughout a the book. Yet again, the author has written a fabulous book. You don’t have to read the previous books to enjoy this one which is always nice. Many thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this delightful book.

Part 3 of the David and Saoirse family saga takes us off to New York for a year's secondment on the promise of a new adventure and wonderful perks. Of course, it doesn't all go to plan.

I've read all three books and enjoy Emma Murray's style of writing. It's real but with a humourous slant, that can often be quite moving. Easy to read with lots happening.

Saoirse is moving her life to New York for a year as her husband has landed a job he can't refuse. It would be the trip of a lifetime if it didn’t involve moving their five year old daughter away from her school, friends snd family.

As the mom of a five year old I totally felt for Saorise and loved reading all about their adventures, trials, and tribulations. I was laughing out loud at times and other times deeply felt for this family as they were building a new community,

The story
Saoirse’s husband David has got a job in New York. The London house has been rented out and she is finally able to say goodbye to the stuck up moms from her young daughter’s class. It also means saying goodbye to her best friends Jen and Bea. When they arrive in the Big Apple, the two bed apartment is a minuscule one bed with no washing machine, the heat and humidity is crazy. David travels for long periods on end and Saoirse is mugged. Will she manage to make it with 5 year old Anna in tow?

My thoughts
I only realized towards the end of this story that this is the second in a series. While it’s not too difficult to read it as a standalone, I definitely felt like I had walked into the room where I didn’t know anyone. Some of the emotional aspects of the books only emerge towards the end and fill in some of the gaps. This is a sweet story with fun aspects but the pace is quite slow.

AD- Gifted
Winging It by Emma Murray

Thanks to @netgalley and @emmamurray for this digital arc of Winging it.

Earlier this year I read both Time Out and The Juggle and loved both so I was so excited when I saw the third instalment Winging it on net galley.

The three books focus on Saoirse, her family and friends. The first two books focus on Saoirse getting to grips with a new career and also falling apart a bit (the struggles of parenting and marriage). Winging it begins with Saoirse and her family moving to Manhattan for her husband Davids jobs. Saoirse initially hates it but with the help of her friends and family she begins to love it. Each of Emma Murray's book have some weird twist in them, it's not that integral to the plot but adds a nice unknown element. The books are great to read in the evening or on the way to work as they aren't too intense but still focus on some harder topics.

One thing I love about these books is the focus on Saoirse's friendships and not just her relationship. Her relationship with friends, family and her little girl Anna are also spoken about in such candid ways that you imagine they are real.

If you are wanting a light and fun read then pick up Time Out, The Juggle and Winging it (Out December 2nd).

Have you read these books?

While it had slow parts the story was fun overall.

Winging It
This is a totally believable story of someone uprooting themselves for a big adventure in a different culture.
I enjoyed Saoirse’s account of life in the Big Apple and how hard she initially found it. As time goes on she settles down and begins to enjoy her new life.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes an honest account of how moving to a different country can be hard at first but once you settle down you begin to enjoy the experience.
Emma Murray is an author I shall look out for in the future.

I enjoyed this story about a family that relocates to New York City due to a job transfer and all that it entails. I felt it dragged on a bit too long and that some of the back story was missing but all in all enjoyable.

I love a good mother/daughter story especially when it is set in one of my favorite cities in the world NYC! It was so neat seeing the main character and her daughter navigate a new life new school, and whole new everything and wing it! I think we all do that to some degree these days and this was a really cute feel good novel!

Holy heck I loved this book. It was absolutely gorgeous, warmed my heart and cracked me up.

Saoirse (yes - I had to google how to pronounce it) is moving to New York with her husband and five year old daughter. World's away from her family and friends. I loved how there was the right amount of drama, it felt like a situation that would have happened to myself, and I felt for her with the initial issues she ran into,

It dealt with mental health delicately and realistically, as well as family issues and relationship problems.

I cannot fault it at all, I genuinely felt like I was saying goodbye to friends when I finished it. I am so excited to read more from Emma Murray, what a book. Top 5 for the year for me.

This book had me laughing out loud many times, Emma Murray has such a wonderfully funny outlook on life and its ups and downs. I have been in Saoirse's shoes as I had to move to the USA in 2008, I was there for only six months though. She really nails it on what it's like to be far from home and not know anyone, but Ms. Murray does it with such a wonderful sense of humour.

Saoirse was a little bit whiney and kinda weak starting out but she grew as a character and as I continued to read she got some balls along the way. I found myself cheering her on as she ending up having some very redeeming qualities. I liked how she loved her friends fiercely, she was a wonderful mom to Anna, a great support to her husband and she does her best to keep a relationship with her mom, even when it isn't always easy. What a wonderful adventure I took with Saoirse and her friends and family and I am so happy she finally found her place in the world.

Thank you # Netgalley for this fun read!

This was the perfect, light hearted, humorous book I had been looking for. We follow Saoirse and her family as they relocate for a year to New York City for her husbands job. Saoirse has a strong girlfriend group and was nervous to leave her bubble and start over in NYC with husband and young child Anna. When they first arrive into a one bedroom apt, things were not going as planned and her husband immediately had to leave for a business trip. We watch Saoirse try to navigate the city with a young child all on her own, but her husband knows when to send in reinforcements. At times he had her best friends fly in to lift her spirits, they had extended family checking in and providing advice, needed and not needed ;) So many hilarious moments, can't wait to read more from this author!

Winging it, is that not what we all do most of the time? Saoirse certainly does. After moving to New York for a once in a lifetime job opportunity Saoirse finds that living in New York in your forties is a lot different from living in New York in your twenties, especially with a 5 year old tyrant and a husband busy with work.
Emma Murray has done it again with an excellent funny heart warming read and sadly a beautiful finale to the end of the series (you do not need to read the other 2 books but it helps)
Funny from the first few pages onwards, experience Saoirse's ups and down in New York as they settle down for the year and of course more Bea!!
An enjoyable and funny, relatable read. I implore you to read if only to find out how to deal with an Organic!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC of this book.

Winging It is a delightful, laugh-out-loud continuation of the hilarious adventures of new author Saoirse, this time in New York. It’s the promotion of a lifetime for her husband David. They’ll live in New York for a year in a rent free glamorous city apartment with private school tuition included for their five year old daughter Anna. But, as Saoirse’s always negative mother says, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch”. And this time she’s right. One bedroom for the three of them, no washer and dryer, a sullen concierge and all the swelteringly hot hustle and bustle of the city in summer… soon a depressed Saoirse follows David’s birth mother’s advice and moves her family to suburban Woodmont.

Here she finds friends that are like her best friends at home, a mysterious landlady and a new nemesis, a mommy influencer named Brigitte. You won’t be able to stop reading (or laughing) until Saoirse has solved all the mysteries hiding in leafy Woodmont.

If you like Marian Keyes, you’ll love Emma Murray! A sympathetic main character you can identify with, realistic settings and snappy dialogue make Winging It a sure fire hit! 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and Emma Murray for this ARC.

Saiorise certainly has the plucky and sarcastic humor that is appreciated as she well admits that she is not a perfect parent and sometimes an iPad is the choice substitute. Leaving her friends and family behind especially Jen and Bea is not easy especially when she went from the suburbs of London to NYC. I must admit that I was taken a back by how frightened she was of this city and found herself not even wanting to leave the apartment. Moving to the suburbs was the best move for her, David and Anna but I thought it was portrayed unfairly. The David and Beth situation was very farfetched. I thought the beginning of the book was better than the end.
