I was expecting a bit more recipes and a bit less general information about eggs, but overall, it was just fine.

This cookbook feels like it was created especially for me. Eggs are my favorite ingredient and food and Lisa Steele created a book that shows all the amazing ways eggs can be cooked on their own or in other ways. I absolutely loved Steeles writing style. From the first words, I felt like I was on her farm with her chickens about the eat the best meal with fresh eggs possible. I loved how this books isn't just about egg recipes but also how to treat and just general facts about eggs. I learned the difference between brown and white eggs, how to shake an egg to see if its fresh, and how to correctly crack an egg.

There is so much variety in the recipes, You would think that this would just be 20 ways to cook scrambled eggs but Steele shows how eggs can be used in things from cocktails, to pastas (my favorite section), desserts, and everything in between. Even though I personally can only buy eggs from the grocery store this book made we want to find a way to get fresh eggs.

Some of my favorite recipes included: Scrambled Egg Hand Pies, Eggs In Pots, and Ricotta Gnocchi

What a gorgeous book. The majority of this book includes delicious sounding recipes that use - you guessed it - eggs. The beginning includes the background of how this author came to live on a rural farm in Maine and keep chickens, transitions to advice on how to choose the freshest eggs in the market, then how to prepare eggs themselves a variety of ways. The pictures are absolutely stunning and the recipes are very clear and approachable.

Seriously dangerous to lovers of eggs, Lisa Steele's The Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook will have your stomach growling for EGGS!

I had to, literally, put this book down and rush to the kitchen and start cookin'.

Ms. Steele begins with an amusing and interesting account of what led to her fascination with egg-laying hens. (I can see why she's a popular blogger, because she truly has a gift for writing.) Her vibrant anecdotes about her chicken pets make me wish I didn't live in the city... I'd be adding a coop to my balcony if it were possible.

The benefits of having fresh eggs to hand, both for taste and nutritional value, are enough to entice me to return regularly to my local farmers market. And the variety of scrumptious recipes included in The Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook ensure that I'll never want for inspiration. Truly, this cookbook is a staple for every kitchen, plus the lighthearted and engaging way Lisa Steele writes makes this a great coffee-table book as well.

This is a lovely cookbook that's especially well suited for those who keep chickens and have seasonal bounties of eggs. You get lots of information about eggs, way more than you may have ever thought to ask. It's very helpful for those of us who raise our own chickens or who buy "backyard" eggs. We buy ours from a lady an hour away since we don't want to support the factory farming egg industry and pastured eggs are so much healthier, tastier and more humane. Surprisingly, Steele writes that she assumes most readers will not be raising their own chickens, but that's the audience who will benefit the most. People with grocery store eggs don't typically need to use a lot of egg yolks or whites, or to know how to freeze or store eggs. The recipes are wonderful and there are color photos for many (but not all) of them. No nutritional information is provided. It won't be a great fit for those who are gluten free, keto, low carb, etc. but it will still be worth checking out for the great info on how to perfectly cook eggs and use them in delicious ways.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book via Net Galley.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Horizon for the chance to read a copy of this book!

I picked up this advanced copy hoping for some insight into what to do when you have a lot of eggs but you don't particularly like eggy foods like quiche, and don't want to just cook a lot of indulgent baked goods. Unfortunately, the book is full of eggy recipes and indulgent baked goods, plus some recipes that use uncooked or undercooked eggs and won't work for my household. So it won't work for my purposes but egg lovers will find a lot of options. The author has some interesting and useful information about fresh eggs from chickens and what to look for in the grocery store, and I enjoyed her voice so much that I didn't even mind it took about 20% of introductory text to get to the recipes!

Much appreciation to Harper Horizon and NetGalley for the digital ARC of The Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook.

I love having easy access, all in one place, to the simple recipes that Lisa chose to include. But, there are also plenty of recipes with which I wasn't as familiar. I appreciate the introduction and background included on many of the recipes.

But, this book isn't just all recipes. Lisa gives the reader plenty of advice and information on fresh eggs and how to use them and even the chickens which lay them, as well. In fact, this is a wonderful resource for a brand new chicken owner. Don't worry, she also gives tips on selecting eggs from the farmers' market or the grocery store.

I devoured the first part of this book all about chickens and the eggs they produce. How to find the perfect fresh egg and how to buy humanely raised chicken eggs? Here it is! This book is a staple in how to prepare the simple egg with many recipes to use them in. My fav ones to try are:
- Rustic Open-Faced Egg Sandwich
- Toasty Baked Egg Cups
- Cheesy Mushroom Pie

💭 ᴍʏ ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛꜱ:
Let’s talk eggs. I love them. Scrambled, poached or fried. They can add just that little bit extra to your meal. This book is great for your basic eggs skills on how to poach an egg which I will continue to practise and home made pasta recipes. But also some really lovely recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner like my favourites: eggs in a nest, grilled cheese and egg sandwich, and Caesar and Niçoise salad. It even contains cake and desert recipes. With the massive amount of recipes come some beautiful photos and it’s just a very lovely cookbook to look through.

I’ve been on a cookbook kick lately. One problem - they usually make me hungry!

One recent read was Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook: Over 100 Fabulous Recipes in Unexpected Ways by blogger Lisa Steele, slated to hit the shelves in February 2022.

The book includes a wide variety of recipes - many of which aren’t that “unexpected”. That said, I I plan to try several of them. At times the book comes off more than a bit pretentious, including suggesting to NOT make a recipe unless you can get fresh-off-the-vine tomatoes from a farmers market or your own garden and a line about, after finishing afternoon chores, sitting on the porch while sipping drinks, enjoying nibbles and watching chickens “frolic” in the yard.

3 ⭐️ for yummy recipes.

Informative and easy to follow. Loved the background on eggs snd conversion Information. Made a few of the recipes, while I liked them, they weren't a big hit with the family. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book

A fantastic starting point for anyone that wants to begin keeping their own backyard chickens. This book is packed with knowledge and pointers.
I found the intro a bit verbose for my preferences. The first 20% of the book is and info dump and personal stories. I wish the author had paced these through the book. It would have made the beginning of the book less of a slog. The recipes look interesting and have beautiful pictures to accompany them. This book would be a wonderful gift for anyone wanting to start with their own chickens but I’m not sure I will be adding it to my own collection.

Eggs. Glorious Eggs! This book is all about Eggs. While the author keeps chickens, and more cities are starting to reconsider allowing residents to have them, not everyone has, or wants their own chickens. That’s OK, while the author shares some of her tidbits on raising them, This book is really all about the eggs and how to make them in a variety of ways.

Enjoy the pictures, but really enjoy the recipes as there is something for everyone in this book. I’m going to be trying a lot of these recipes over time and can’t wait to get started. I’ll let the family make the first few suggestions, if they can agree on a few…because they’re going to want to try them all too!

I received this book from the publisher and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
What an interesting and beautiful book. Author raises her own chickens and shares an enormous amount of information, recipes and photos in a way that makes this book the standard for egg cooking. Highly recommend for homesteading and farmers as well as home cooks. Excellent reference and one I will keep to use often.

I love eggs. So much so that it was the only food I would eat as a child. When I saw this book I had to check it out. While I have expanded my horizons with food I still enjoy an egg-centric meal. This book doesn’t disappoint! The first part of the book explains about eggs and egg safety. I’m definitely never going to have chickens in my backyard (thanks HOA) I feel like I could after this book.

Positives: lots of variety. Easy to follow recipes. No real egg-otic ingredients (That’s the last one I promise)

Cons: Not enough pictures. (But the pictures included are gorgeous.)

As the author suggests this is a great book for anyone who keeps chickens, but even if you dont keep chickens this is still a great addition to your library as it includes a very wide range of recipes. Ingriedients and methods are straight forward, I just wish the book had a little more photography, although there are alot of pictures not everything is illistrated and I do like to look at what i'm attempting. I will certainly use this book and may purchase a few addiditional copies for friends and family.

This is a delightful book that takes you straight to the farm - there is so much valuable info about eggs, chickens, and general kitchen best practices in this book.

The book opens with an overview of Fresh Eggs Daily (the journey and blog) as well as some basic egg techniques such as coddled eggs, whipping egg whites, or preserved eggs. I was particularly curious about the salt cured eggs + pickled eggs.

Next, the book moves towards breakfast. This section provides some spins on the classics (chimichurri scrambled eggs) and some new ideas (Finnish Egg Butter spread). I'll definitely be making the Scrambled Egg Hand Pies from this section.

Brunch to Lunch features more involved recipes like breads, sandwiches, and baked egg dishes. Honestly, everything looks so appetizing in this section and I wish it was the weekend so I could whip up some Blueberry Popovers and a Goat Cheese Frittata with Herbs.

Sips and Nibbles are the bites that are perfect for a party, or to just eat throughout the night. I love the addition of some fun cocktails that include egg. The nibbles vary from deviled eggs to gougères - there is something for everyone.

Dinner includes Soups (egg drop soup!), Salads, Pasta, and More Baked Egg Dishes. This chapter is cozy and crave-able. The Baked Eggs in Butternut Squash Rings is something I have never seen before - perfect any time of day!

Sweets - my favorite chapter. This book includes Cakes and Pies, Cookies and More, and Classics. These recipes are all simple and accessible, perfect for first time bakers or more seasoned folks.

I wasn't sure if a book all about eggs was totally necessary, but after reading through The Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook I see that it is. This is a perfect book for anyone who is spending time in the kitchen - there really is something for everyone.

True confession: I want to crawl inside this book. I want to live in Maine, have chickens and fresh eggs daily, and enjoy cocktails and nibbles under a tree on my lawn. I can’t do most of those things, but I can learn more about eggs and peruse these delightful recipes.

This is a charming, delightful book, far more than a cookbook with its introductory chapters on chickens and eggs, and the appendices with lists of necessary kitchen gadgets and accoutrements. There is a recipe index with a separate index for number of eggs required for a recipe, which I love. I hadn’t heard of Lisa Steele, so didn’t know she already had such a huge social media following. I loved this book. #TheFreshEggsDailyCookbook #NetGalley
