4.5 stars! This was unputdownable! (literally, I finished this at 3am)
Dating Dr. Dil is a hilarious romantic comedy inspired by The Taming of the Shrew about a TV doctor that doesn't believe in love who begrudgingly must convince a love-obsessed lawyer they are destined to be together as both their futures depend on it.
After an very public argument with Dr. Prem Verma goes viral, Kareena Mann's options become depressingly limited. Even though their views on love-marriages and arranged-marriages are polar opposites, the more time Prem spends with Kareena, the more he begins to believe she’s the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with - but without love, will he ever be able to convince Kareena he is the man she should marry?
This book is filled with tropes in a good way, and is definitely steamy! This was one of those rare instances where I got so sucked into this story I forgot I was even reading. The characters chemistry on the page is so strong its straight up magical!
ARC kindly provided in exchange for my honest review.

Cute and readable. It was also a little steamier than I expected. Will be an easy hand sell. I will definitely be reading future books in this series.

Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I'm obsessed with this book! Every single one of Nisha's books are amazing, but this is so clearly her best work and I could not be more excited for everyone to read Dating Dr. Dil. It combines the best aspects of all Nisha’s books--the desi magic from My So-Called Bollywood Life, the grounded relationship in Radha & Jai’s Recipe for Romance, and the fierce and swoonworthy romance of The Singh Family Trilogy. Prem and Kareena stole my heart and I need everyone to be talking about this book leading up to its publication in March.

I am so sure I will show my excitement in the most unusual ways! Probably some awkward sounds like cheering chicken gurgling its throat with Glenlivet ( trust me I always do the exact same sound when I get extra cheerful: like seeing my husband bring me boxes of wines to make me shut up or while I’m counting Ryan Gosling’s abs muscles aloud! ) I also screamed several Wows, Whoopsies and Whoas !
You may get from my reactions what I mean: this book is absolutely BIG WINNER!
Most of you read my reviews know what I’m exactly looking for when I start a steamy, hilarious romcom!
I like good character development! I like sassy, sarcastic banters. I’m true fan of Enemies to Lovers troupe! I like steamy scenes as I’ve mentioned before. I like great humor, good side characters. I like good conflicts! Finally I love big gestures!
Maybe I got a little carried away and gave some semi spoilers by summarizing some important facts of the book. But this book seems like written for me! It checked all those boxes and answered all my expectations!
So I already reserved its place at my top five best romcoms of 2022 even though I only read a few romcom arcs. But I’m telling you my friends this book so definitely different, special and if you’re fan like reading sexy, steamy, smart, entertaining, laugh out loud romance books and crave for ultra delicious Indian food, this book is match made in heaven for you!
Well, Prem means “Love”, Dil means “Heart “in Hindi language and a man who is called with those names is pure scientist who’s insisting love doesn’t exist! Yes, this guy believes love is an illusion, a chemical reaction that endangers the hearts! We can start booing our hero! But don’t worry! He will make it up to us on several occasions during our reading journey!
And absurd thing about this doctor is he’s stuck with a woman who’s love obsessed, humiliating him in front of the viewers, losing his sponsorship from investors, threatening his entire career! Thanks to bunch of 4 aunties who force him to earn blessings of Kareena Mann!
They’ve met at the bar when Kareena stayed to have one more drink to celebrate her 30th birthday that her parents forgot! She met Prem( a.k.a. Dr. Dil) They had long conversation and learned a lot about each other. ( we will read parts from those long conversation during the related chapters!) When they decided to make up at the back office of bar, Prem got a phone call for family emergency and when he returned back he found the office empty! Kareena already left the building.
Their story starts like this. And when Kareena is drawn in Dr. Dil’s filming show by her irritating, extremely spoiled, influencer sister Bindu. He realizes the man on the show is the same guy who ditched her and she listens Prem’s humiliating comments about love which is probably last straw! She gets pissed. Things get escalated and viral.
Now they should fake their relationship because Prem needs to fix his tarnished reputation and Kareena needs a fiancée to convince her father to give the money he saved for her marriage to pay for their family house which has sentimental value for her. Both of them can get benefited from this arrangement. Love is not on the cards. Prem doesn’t believe in love and Kareena can’t fall for a robot like him who feels nothing. But… well you can guess that’s not how it goes, right!
Oh my goodness! This book is sooooo freaking AMAZING! Just focus on blazing five stars I gave and please read it and then thank me for my recommendation!
I’m so sure this will be a big hit! And I’m so excited to read more works of the author in near future!
Special thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager, dear Nisha Sharma for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.

If I had to describe Kareena and Prem's story in one word, it would be "passionate." As a desi, I liked reading about a couple in their 30's navigating the ups and downs of their relationship. However, at times I also found Kareena and Prem's behavior a bit juvenile, and I was not entirely convinced by Prem's explanation for his hesitation around using the word "love" and accepting it. I would have liked to see more of how he ended up developing that idea, as it is explained but not really explored in detail. As for the other characters, I found myself pretty frustrated with Kareena's family members. I felt for Kareena, as it seemed like everyone in her household was against her or took advantage of her, and I would have liked to see more acknowledgment of their behaviors and apologies - although being desi myself, I know that's something we see infrequently in real life. The struggle of balancing our parents' expectations and our own desires well into our adult years is a very real one, and Sharma captured it beautifully, with all the heartache that goes into it.

Thank you NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for giving me an ARC of this book!
I LOVED this book. It was the perfect mix of funny, sexy, and enjoyable- and the spicy scenes were hot for a romcom. The characters were completely relatable and I loved the aspects of Indian culture that were thrown into it. There was fake dating, enemies to lovers, and a heroine that doesn’t take shit from anyone… what’s not to love? I thought that the book was perfectly paced and the character development was believable. I also enjoyed that family and friends were a big part of the story too. I recommend this to everyone when it comes out for sure!!

Thank you NetGalley and Avon for an Arc in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book! It included a lot of tropes and details that I enjoyed and I learned a lot from it. I’m giving it 4.5 stars rounded up.
Kareena Mann is the main character who dreams of finding a love marriage and fixing up her mom’s house. When her dad announces he’s selling the home he offers her a chance to get it - if she can get engaged in four months. This is when she meets Prem, aka Dr. Dil, and things get more complicated.
I thought the two main characters went super well together and had a lot of chemistry. Prem annoyed me a little bit with his views, but I’m glad everything worked out for them. I loved also the aunties and they were probably my favorite characters throughout.
This is a fun book and great to use as a distraction! I highly recommend it for fans of romance.

I really enjoy Nisha's work. This story was fun but I liked it dealt with stereotypes. While not a member of the South Asian community I felt I learned a lot about it from this book.

Dating Dr. Dil is a delightful contemporary romance featuring a multifaceted heroine and an engaging hero, and a delightful resolution. Enemies to lovers; fake relationship romance that builds between Kareena and Prem was so entertaining to read.. It was a quick read and left me craving for more. I’m definitely gonna pick up more books by Nisha Sharma.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for sharing this ARC with me in exchange for an honest review.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS BOOK! There were so many little cultural details that I am obsessed with: the black kurta, the pain puri eating contest, the progressive but still nosy aunties, the iconic dadi! Nisha Sharma never fails to incorporate the most beautiful elements of South Asian culture and tradition into her books while also highlighting certain elements that should change. The romance in this book was so fun! As a huge fan of 10 things I hate about you, I knew I was going to love this book just from the cover. The actual storyline made it 100 times better. Desi fboys in books >>> Desi fboys in real life. Prem (Dr.Dil) was such a relatable character, and his relationship with his mom reminded me a lot of my relationship with my family. When he finally called his mom towards the end of the book, she was so funny! Prem's mom might have been my favorite character. This was such a fun book- perfect to take on vacation or to the pool. Reading this book is like escaping into a wholesome AU. It's so cute and I highly recommend it to all the contemporary romance lovers out there!

I wish I could read this book all over again for the first time. The aunties, south asian culture, humor, all had me wrapped up in this book.
Karina is our witty, book-wormy, romance-loving female protagonist who decides to go back into the dating world due to a bet she made with her desi father, which if she loses, could end in the selling of her childhood home. After a failed hook-up with Dr. Prim Dil, a man who we later find out doesn't believe in love, Karina is reluctant to ever see him again. However, due to bad timing and horrific luck, Karina not only ends up seeing him but also confronts him for leaving midway through their hookup. Their argument goes viral, and Prim is left trying to regain respect and fix his reputation. Karina's meddling aunties suggest they get fake engaged so they both can get what they want. While Karina is unwilling, Prim seems to think this is a brilliant idea. He will do absolutely anything and everything to win Karina over...
First of all, Prim was just AMAZING, THE SWEETEST MOST GENTLEMANLY BOOK BOY EVER. I wish I could explain all the cute things he does but I can't spoil. Second, being the child of immigrant parents, I felt so understood and heard while reading this book. Third, tropes, if you like fake dating and boy first/is absolutely infatuated with the girl, definitely read this book!!
this is my new favorite comfort read, so thankful I got a chance to read Dating Dr. Dil and I hope you check it out :)

This was such a fun and entertaining read! I really enjoyed reading from both Kareena’s and Prem’s POVs. I did think this was a bit insta-lovey, especially considering Prem’s hang ups with love and relationships. That being said, I think this story was a good example of insta-love done mostly well - Prem and Kareena had great chemistry and seemed to click together well. I am not Indian or South East Asian, but as a fellow daughter of immigrants, I related a lot to Kareena. Especially the feeling she has that her career and life accomplishments didn’t matter to her family as much as getting married.
Overall I thought this was a very enjoyable read and will be picking up a physical copy when it is released!

This book was a freaking delight! It was surprisingly (and deliciously) steamy, funny banter, and addressed conversation in the desi and non desi community regarding arranged marriages, sex and dating.
The writing in this book was fab! I love a book that can keep me engaged that makes the book unputdownable for me. I enjoyed the banter between our sweater vest loving Rina, and our heart doc, Dr. Dil. I also really enjoyed the conversations they had about their community and how marriage is viewed. Specially the conversations about desi women and dating.
This book will definitely make you hungry and perhaps horny because the steamy scenes were HOT. Whew shower booty action!!!!
I loved Dr Dil and Rina and loved seeing them overcome the barriers they each had to come together! I cannot wait to read more stories set in this universe with their friend group!

I don't think 5 stars will be enough to tell you how much I loved this book. I was swooning over the characters from the beginning and they didn't disappoint point at all. Kareena and Prem are everything i could ask for in a couple and I just want to reread the book over and over again because I don’t think I'll be able to get over them in a very long time. The author did such an amazing job showing depth in the characters and I just couldn't stop myself from falling in love with them. The chemistry, the banter between Kareena and Prem was so good and seeing the cultural background in the book made it so relatable for me to read it.I can't wait for other people to read the book and enjoy it as much as I did. Thank you NetGalley for the arc! I can't wait to get my paperback.
[Review on Instagram will be posted few days before the release date.]

She believes in love and wants it. He thinks love causes health issues. She wants the house her mother built but her widower father is retiring and putting it in the market. He needs financing for his medical center. If you grew up in a culture where family is involved in your day to day and future decisions then you can relate to this book! I hope this turns into a series. I highly recommend this book. 4 stars!
******I received an Arc for my honest opinion from NetGalley. *********

Dating Dr. Dil by Nisha Sharma
Tropes: Enemies to Lovers; Fake Relationship
Steam: Steamy, Open Door but with a good tension build up
Quick Desc: He believes in arrangements, compatibility, and science – she’s looking for love, soulmates and happily ever after.
Where to start? I was immediately drawn to this book when I saw it was a Nisha Sharma title. I have had the pleasure of reading two other books by her – both YA Contemp Romances, so I was excited to see her releasing a Romance / Rom Com title with Avon. ❤ As with all her covers, Dating Dr. Dil is no exception – the cover art is bright, fun, cute and inviting. Based on the author / cover and genre alone, I knew it was a must read for me. Finding out that it was also a take on Taming of The Shrew? That was icing.
This was an easy win for me, the book featured two of my all time favorite tropes: Enemies To Lovers and Fake Relationship. It also kept me up waaaaay past my bedtime (which may have resulted in a kindle to face situation 😂), but was 100% worth it. From start to finish, I was hooked – I loved both of the leads (Kareena and Prem) and was invested in their personal journeys and their love story from the beginning. The chemistry and bantering were there for me – and I loved that their were some epistolary points (as I do love some correspondence in a love story, whether it be via letter, email or text 🙌). I loved that Kareena was strong, independent and someone who knew her own mind and heart. It was refreshing for her to be in her 30s and have an established and well loved career and life. A full life that she was looking to add to. I also appreciated the build of a partnership between her and Prem as the story unfolds.
The book was lighthearted and fun, and I adored the way culture was woven into the story. Those careful references / descriptions of the food, clothing, etc really brought the book to life. (I’d love to see this one as a movie). The flow and pacing of the story was just right – especially the tension build up. The story contained a good amount of steam, but I appreciated how that was well paced out too.
Some things that I definitely have to touch on that I enjoyed: The side characters. I was very intrigued by Kareena and Prem’s besties. I’m hoping there is more to come for each. I also loved the aunties – they brought just the right level of drama / hijinks that made me smile. And of course, I can’t fail to mention the fun T Swift references. I’m a fan, and I definitely enjoyed and liked seeing the playlist at the end too.
Overall, it was an easy, fun read – and one I know I’ll be grabbing a copy of for my physical bookshelf. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for the chance to read an early release in exchange for my honest review. (And here’s hoping stories for Bunty and Deepak are soon to follow 🤞🤞😊)
Review posted on GoodReads for 11/5/21. Reviews on Amazon and Bookstagram (@TheBookishDachshund) will be posted for release week.

This book is amazing. I'm such a sucker for a love interest who doesn't think that they can love or that love isn't real. Seeing Prem slowly fall in love with Kareena and try to deny it even though he knows that's what it is, is so beautiful. I also love that Kareena never actually thinks she can change him, she just accepts him as he is and if he can't love her then she won't be with him.
That car scene during the party made me feel lots of things and I actually want Prem for myself. This book is soooo good and I can't wait for everyone to be able to read it.
I received a copy through netgalley.

Full review will be up on pop-culturalist.com closer to pub date! I love this book so freaking much and the romance is to die for. Nisha Sharma is one of my new favorite romance authors!! If she’s available I would love to do an interview with her.

I absolutely loved Dating Dr. Dil. I was immediately drawn in by the cover and the promise of a Taming of the Shrew adaptation. This book did not disappoint! It’s sweet, steamy (!!), and shows interesting, complex characters who are easy to root for. Bonus points for sweet dates & banter, enemies to lovers, and Indian aunties. I’ve already googled where I find Pani Puri because that seems like a must.
Kareena is a strong, independent woman who is searching for a true love marriage like her parents had. Kareena’s mother, who passed away when Kareena was younger, poured her heart into the home Kareena shares with her grandmother, father, and sister. On the morning of her 30th birthday her life is turned upside down when it slips out that her dad is selling the house and retiring. Kareena will stop at nothing to purchase the house for herself - even putting an end to her dating moratorium and finally finding the one. Which may be easier said than done. An explosive viral moment with handsome tv Dr. Dil (Prem) kicks off a series of events that will change both of their lives forever.
Kareena was such a likeable, well-developed character and I was really proud of her character development. She refuses to conform to the traditional roles most Desi women are expected to, even if it means she’s basically destined to be single for the rest of her life. She was willing to do anything for her family, despite them not always deserving her,, but by the end she was able to stand up for herself and put her foot down.
Prem had his own development as well and it was refreshing to see a male character work through his emotions. Before the book begins, we learn that Prem has suffered a loss of his own and he doesn’t even realize just how much that loss has changed him and driven his goals for the future. When he sees Kareena across the room of his friend’s restaurant his life truly changes. I loved that he let Kareena figure things out on her own, but was always there as her plan B.
I thought all of the Taylor Swift references were cute as well. The bonus playlist at the end was great.
Thank you to NetGalley & Avon for an advanced copy of this book. I’ll definitely be preordering (and anxiously awaiting the next book in this series)!

Dating Dr. Dil. I discovered this book through the magical clock app of Tiktok. I was intrigued by Nisha's video on the book and so glad I was able to get an arc. I think three of my favorite things included: 1) We get a woman who likes cars and knows how to work on them 2) THE BANTER 3) Perm's refusal to let Kareena go despite struggling with the word 'love.' Something that frustrated me were Kareena's family but I only felt so incredibly frustrated for her because I saw my own family dynamic being reflected and I understood the struggle she was going through. It was interesting to see how oblivious Perm was to his own feelings. Him not growing up with affection and the hurt he had faced caused him to view love differently. It's interesting to see the differences on their viewpoint of a relationship. Also tie that with the fact I did grow up like Perm without seeing much affection yet my viewpoint is more like Kareena. Also let's talk about how Perm's consistent nickname, "Rina Honey." Makes me MELT. I enjoyed how despite how toxic Kareena's family could be she never backed down and was willing to stand up for herself. Overall I could not put this book down and can't wait for the physical copy.
