Thank you to Net Galley and Macmillan Audio for the Advanced Listening Copy of The Golden Couple

This was a fun read that kept me entertained all the way through. I enjoyed the alternating perspectives of Marissa and Avery, a bit of a twist from the husband/wife narration that I expected.

I struggled a bit with Avery’s character and the believability of Marissa and Matthew so readily welcoming her into the minutiae of their lives. I’d find myself getting lost in the story and then she would go and do or say something that I just couldn’t believe and it would pop me right back out again.

Despite a couple qualms I enjoyed the story and made my way through the audio book quickly.

The Audio was well done, I enjoyed the narration throughout.

Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an ALC in exchange for my honest opinion. The narration by Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland was excellent.

A thriller that kept me guessing until the very end?! What kind of insanity is this?!

I read a lot of books, and I don't always remember them because I read books quickly and back-to-back (and even overlapping!). But I remember starting the 2nd part of The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen and how my jaw dropped in shock.😮 That book has stayed with me, even though I read it within a few months of its publication four years ago!
I devoured both of the authors' co-written books released since that one. These authors know how to craft an addictive read, and sometimes I read them too quickly! This was my first time getting one of their books pre-publication, so that was exciting and different for me. It's been a Book of the Month choice, too, so it seems like many have read it, but it officially comes out next Tuesday, 3/8.
If you like solid, twisty domestic thrillers, often involving therapists, these authors should definitely be on your list. This one did not disappoint - and I did not see where it was going, which is a pleasant surprise! Perhaps I'll celebrate The Golden Couple's publication by re-reading one of their previous books!
I look forward to breezing through any books this author team publishes in the future - and I’ll keep an eye out for these narrators, too!

Many thanks to NetGalley, St Martin's Press and Macmillan Audio for gifting me both a digital and audiobook ARC of the latest thriller by the writing team of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. 4.5 stars rounded up for an intriguing thriller!

Avery Chambers lost her therapist license which now gives her the license to practice therapy without any restrictions. She has developed a 10-session plan to "fix" people's issues. But her techniques are completely encompassing and intrusive. After reading about her successes with clients, Marissa Bishop schedules an appointment to meet with Avery to try and fix her marriage to her husband, Mathew. Marissa made the biggest mistake of her life and cheated on Mathew; she is desperate to make things right.

Told in different storylines between Avery and Melissa, you will soon discover that everyone is keeping secrets. This is an intriguing, tense thriller that will keep you glued to the pages and wonderfully written by Hendricks/Pekkanen. There are lots of twists and turns that will have you second guessing everyone. This is a great read and another winner by these authors. I alternated between reading the digital book and listening to the audiobook - which was wonderfully narrated by Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland.

Thanks to Random Things Tours for my gorgeous hardback and place on the blog tour!
This was my first book by Hendricks and Pekkanen and is certainly not my last!
I loved this book, and loved the audiobook experience too! I felt completely immersed in the story and characters, and the audio was absolutely stellar quality! It was a book that I would continue to listen to at any opportunity!
What a fantastic premise. A 'golden couple'b who on the surface have everything, but whose marriage is in trouble. So in comes Avery, a former therapist who lost her license. This would normally mean she is restricted, but by not being bound by rules and codes of conduct, means she is able to use unorthodox methods in her sessions. Honestly, this was utterly captivating! She was a FANTASTIC character and the authors did a wonderful job in conveying her complexities.
The ending was great too, and whilst I did have a few suspicions of my own, this was a brilliant book and one I would highly recommend.

Will share to my social media pages on my blog tour day.

Avery is an (unlicensed) therapist who has a ten-session method guaranteed to fix anyone's problems. So when Golden Couple Marissa and Matthew Bishop walk into her office hot on the heels of Marissa's infidelity, Avery is sure she can fix their marriage. But the more she learns about the Bishops the more questions she has. Is Matthew also cheating? What's the deal with Marissa's assistant? Why was someone snooping in Avery's office? Who's sending Marissa notes and gifts?

This was a good book that kept me guessing until the end. Despite my total inability to relate to any of these characters, I found myself at least sympathizing with Avery and Marissa (because a lot of bad stuff happened to her and I was hoping it would just ease up a bit).

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this ALC. I enjoyed Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland and the life they breathed into Marissa and Avery.

I read this book it was about a therapist who was fired and is now working on her own with her own practice. She starts counseling a married couple Marissa and Matthew the golden couple or so it seems. This was a fun slow burn thriller. I loved all the little details and the twist at the end caught me off guard! I highly recommend.

The perfect couple, Marissa and Mathew Bishop, have chosen to work with a think outside the box therapist Avery Chambers. Ten sessions could save their marriage. I was kept questioning what would happen next. Who was telling the truth and who had secrets? Why was Avery stalking her patients? The end got fast and furious and kept me on the edge of my seat. Great book!! I would recommend this to all my friends.

The Golden Couple is my 2nd novel by this Thriller powerhouse team. My first novel was An Anonymous Girl, which I thought was a very clever thriller.

Avery Chambers is not a licensed therapist anymore, but that hasn't hindered her practice. Her wildly successful 10-step therapy method speaks for itself. Marissa and Mathew Bishop happen to be her newest clients. On the surface, they appear to have it all, our Golden Couple. Except, qMarissa wants Avery to help her reveal to Mathew that she’s cheated. As the sessions start, Avery soon realizes that Marissa’s infidelity isn’t the only secret the Bishops hold.

Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland narrate The Golden Couple. I LOVED their narration! They captured both Avery and Marissa perfectly - Avery as a badass, maverick therapist, and Marissa as guilt-stricken and full of self-doubt. I genuinely believe this duo enhanced the story.

Grab this twisty thriller for:
✨Suspicious characters
✨Romeo - the rescued Pit Bull (dogs are always a winner for me!)
✨Deception
✨Surprising AND satisfying ending (I don’t say this lightly because, in most thrillers, I want to change the ending!!)

What I wish it had more of:
✨Avery! I wanted the whole book to be her and her sessions!

If you are looking for a thriller for your spring break trip, pick this one on Tuesday, March 8th! You'll be wildly entertained!

The Golden Couple is a thriller written by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. The audiobook was narrated by Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland. While the book starts off slowly, the interest builds until you can't put it down. I enjoyed the twists and turns that kept me guessing throughout. Just when I started to think I had it figured out, another twist had me lost and rethinking what I'd read. The narrators do a great job and the audio can easily be sped up to 2x.

Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher, for an ARC audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.

I really liked this audiobook! The characters all meshed together really well throughout the whole story which made listening enjoyable. It was also more suspenseful than I expected when I started which was a pleasant surprise. The couple initially seemed too perfect until the plot twisted in a way I didn’t picture! I really liked that there were two narrators narrating the dual POV chapters.

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for providing me with this advance listener copy.

Description from NetGalley:
If Avery Chambers can’t fix you in 10 sessions, she won’t take you on as a client. Her successes are phenomenal--she helps people overcome everything from domineering parents to assault--and almost absorb the emptiness she sometimes feels since her husband’s death.

Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem like the golden couple--until Marissa cheats. She wants to repair things, both because she loves her husband and for the sake of their 8-year-old son. After a friend forwards an article about Avery, Marissa takes a chance on this maverick therapist, who lost her license due to controversial methods.

When the Bishops glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger.

I don’t think I’ve read/listened to another thriller that has two POVs of one being the counselor and one being one of her clients. I haven’t read tons and tons of thrillers but just the same. Also both of them having their own thriller happening was interesting to read. I definitely did prefer Marissa’s POV to Avery’s in the end though.

The narrator was solid. I comfortably was able to listen to the story at 2x speed. The writing and the voice work drew me and kept my attention while I listened. Both storylines kept throwing me off especially as they start to intertwine with Marissa and Mathew being Avery’s clients.

Overall: 4/5

This domestic thriller was slow at the beginning, but the level of tension kept me on my toes in the last third of the book and I wasn't prepared and was shook as the secrets started to unfolded.

I will read anything Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen write. The Golden Couple was no exception, and when I was allowed to review their new novel early, I jumped at the chance.
While the plot moved along more slowly than I usually like, The Golden Couple kept my interest throughout. I found myself drawn to the female characters and rooting for them every step of the way.
As for the plot twists and big reveal, I didn’t see them coming. The big reveal surprised me in a big way!
If you are looking for a literary piece of fiction, this is not the novel for you. The Golden Couple is simplistic in writing style and word choice, making the story easy to consume and binge read.
At the end of the day, I’ll rate The Golden Couple four stars. I was able to access both the print hardcover version and the audiobook. If you are a fan of audiobooks, the narrators Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland do a fantastic job!

5/5! Story line is great. A page turner until the end. The characters are easy to like and the story is told from multiple perspectives. I enjoy these authors every time - always look forward to their books! I recommend if you enjoy domestic thrillers, family suspense, and marriage trouble.

This was my very first book by this author duo, and all of the hype around their psychological thrillers definitely has lived up to the hype so far for me! This book was a perfect combination of thrilling alternate POV's, domestic tension and psychological suspense. While the plot was nothing extremely ground-breaking, I found myself frequently questioning who was good vs evil and where their stories were going to end up. I look forward to reading more from these authors in the future!

Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for providing me with an audiobook ARC!

I requested this one because it might be an upcoming title I would like to review on my Youtube Channel. However, after reading the first several chapters I have determined that this book does not suit my tastes. So I decided to DNF this one.

Avery Chambers is a consultant, after participating in some unsavory practices as a therapist she lost her license. Now she guarantees to fix any couple in just ten sessions. Marissa and Mathew Bishop have the perfect relationship on the outside, but looking deeper they have major issues. Marissa reaches out to Avery for help, setting their lives on a collision course no one knew was possible.

This psychological thriller has twists and turns in every chapter. As the characters lives are divulged the reader begins to question if anyone was truly honest to begin with. The narrations was perfect, switching between two narrators as the chapters switch view points.

I would like to thank NetGalley, and Macmillan Audio for the electronic Advanced Reading Copy (eARC) in exchange for my fair and honest review.

This book had me working the entire time to try and connect the dots. I was hooked and consumed from the beginning!

I enjoyed that most of the characters were flawed and somewhat unlikeable. It keeps you guessing as to who is involved.

I generally get excited when I see that this author pair has a new book coming out. They can be depended on to deliver a fast-paced, fun domestic thriller that doesn’t require much from the reader.
The Golden Couple follows suit, with an entertaining premise - a supposedly perfect couple seeks help with their marriage from a disgraced, former therapist who employs some very unconventional methods to treat her clients.
The majority of the book was enjoyable, but I was disappointed with the ending, which was campy and seemed a little phoned in.
This was more like three and a half but I’m feeling generous.
Thanks to #netgalley and #stmartinspress for this #arc of #thegoldencouple in exchange for an honest review.
