Wow! I loved this book. And that's saying a lot because I usually can't stand domestic thrillers haha. Really well written and I thoroughly enjoyed how the chapters switched between the counselor and the wife. I was not expecting the husband at all! I would have liked to maybe see how the story of Tina became resolved and what happened further between the wife and Skip but it was a very entertaining read none the less! Thank you so much for this copy!

This is the first book that I have read by these authors, although their other books have been on my TBR list. They will definitely be moving to the top now. This book hooked me from the beginning and had so many twists and turns throughout the story. Avery had such an interesting back story, especially learning about how she lost her license, and the unusual therapy methods that she uses. I like how the chapters are told from differing points of view and how you are never sure if the characters are telling the truth or not. It makes for a very interesting story that kept me on the edge of my seat and did not end in the way that I thought it would. I really enjoyed the narrator and felt that her telling enhanced my enjoyment.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook through NetGalley from Macmillan Audio. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A stellar domestic suspense. Make sure you have time before you start this one, it grabs you and doesn't let you go (even after you have turned the last page). Has everything you could want, even a bonus for doglovers. I dare you to try and guess where this story will end - a rollercoaster ride of a book, I will ALWAYS read (or listen, re: audiobooks) the offerings of these two awesome suspense building authors (there are plenty of quick turns snd surprises on the road this story navigates)! Thanks to #Netgalley for allowing me to read this in advance!

The Bishops want to save their marriage, and their new therapist promises to do just that in ten sessions, if they agree to follow her unusual methods completely. A twisty thriller with layers of lies and secrets, it keeps the reader guessing and fans of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen will not be disappointed.

I finished listening to this book within two days. I just couldn't stop listening because it was that good! This is a fast-paced, psychological thriller that will keep you guessing, and just when you think you have it figured out, the author throws in another twist to shake things up and keep you interested.

Avery is a therapist who has lost her license for her unconventional, unethical ways of treating her clients. She has a ten-step method and if after the first session she doesn't think you are a good fit, then she won't even take you on as a client.

Marissa and Matthew are what seem to be the perfect couple, or The Golden Couple, except for they're....not. During their first session with Avery, Marissa reveals she cheated on Matthew, but it was only once and it's over with the other guy. Over the course of their sessions, Avery implements her unconventional methods of therapy for The Golden Couple and uncovers that there is so much more everyone is keeping hidden.

This book is filled with secrets, lies, family drama and even a murder. I liked a lot of the characters despite their flaws, and I actually found their flaws helped them seem more realistic. I really didn't see the book ending the way it did, but it was well-written and I was satisfied with it. I will recommend this book to all of my bookish friends who enjoy a good thriller.

Special thanks to the author, NetGalley and the publisher for an ALC in exchange my honest review.

Avery Chambers is not your typical therapist. In fact, she's not even a licensed therapist anymore but that doesn't stop her from taking clients - she's helped assault victims, spouses in emotionally abusive relationships, and trauma survivors. But Avery won't agree to see you if she can't fix you in 10 sessions. When Marissa Bishop reaches out to Avery for help in saving her marriage, Avery is intrigued: Marissa and Matthew Bishop are a well-off, beautiful couple whose relationship looks perfect from the outside. However, Marissa reveals that she cheated on Matthew and now their relationship is on its last legs. As Avery works with the couple and starts to untangle the complicated story, she learns that the Bishops might be hiding who they truly are behind closed doors. And as Marissa participates in Avery's unconventional sessions, she begins to realize how much trouble her marriage, and life, is in. When Avery and Marissa started to work together, neither of them realized that they would be embarking on a journey that will undoubtedly end in catastrophe.

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are back with their fourth book together, The Golden Couple, and, oh man, do these two know how to write together! Jumping between Marissa and Avery's perspectives, the book lays out a seemingly straight-forward domestic thriller plot that becomes increasingly entangled with little mysteries. But the little mysteries don't stay small for long and all the sudden you're questioning every character, your own judgment, and the direction of the plot itself. This is my first book by the two authors and I have to say that I am obsessed with their writing style and flow. As an avid thriller reader, I rarely feel utterly shocked by an ending while thinking it's a sensible, quality ending, and The Golden Couple did that. Now, while I really enjoyed the writing, plot, and ending, I have to say I did not have the same feelings towards the characters (i.e. Marissa). I found Marissa and Matthew to be a super boring couple and I didn't see a lot of personality in Marissa even though half of the book was told by her. Avery stole the show every chapter and her story was exciting and enticing. Overall, The Golden Couple is a fantastic read if you're into domestic thrillers and multiple narrators. I received an audiobook version of The Golden Couple and the voice narrators were great and easy to listen to, so I would recommend the audiobook if you're able to listen and enjoy audiobooks!

I am a big fan of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen! The golden couple did not disappoint. From the beginning there are twists and turns to keep you guessing chapter after chapter. I highly recommend The Golden Couple for the suspense and looking for a book with a twisty ride.

This book was wild! I was so invested from the start and could barely contain myself with each twist in the story. 🤯

The story itself was VERY character driven and boy did Greer and Sarah give us some interesting and complex characters. Seeing how each person fit in the story was so fun and was a big part of the addictiveness of this story. And by the end I was so shook!

This is a perfect domestic mystery/thriller and I think nearly anyone would enjoy this! Big thanks to NetGalley and Macmillion Audio for early access to this audiobook (side note - I loved the narrators! They were perfect for Marissa and Avery.) The Golden Couple drops March 8!

Wow! This was absolutely amazing. I listened to the audiobook.

Quick thoughts:

Loved the narrator
The storyline is different and interesting
Great twists throughout the story.
The ending will leave you

I did not see the ending until it was right there. Like 🤯🤯🤯. This was a never-ending revolving door of twists, secrets, and bombshell confessions. This has to be one of the best thrillers I’ve read lately.

It also was interesting and fun having both my name, Marissa as the main character and my son's name Avery in the story.

I somewhat enjoyed The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I did find myself looking forward to the chapters from Marissas point of view more than Avery’s. This book definitely kept me guessing the entire time and did not end how I expected it too. I think some elements and details were unnecessary and just took up space. For example all the name brands instead of just stating the object. The whole story of the pharmaceutical company coming after Avery, I felt was unnecessary. It was a way to tie in the characters but I think the story would have been mostly the same without it. I did enjoy this book and would recommend it for anyone who likes this genre.

The Golden Couple is another fantastic thriller from Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen - I've come to expect twisty thrillers full of red herrings and unreliable narrators from them, and this book does not disappoint! While this is definitely another domestic thriller with a therapist trope, I think that there writing really made it their own and kept the book fresh and unique for me.

I love dual POV books when each narrator leads you in a different direction. I had my suspicions about where this book was headed and while I was right about somethings, it definitely took me until just before the very end to put it all together! It was unique in that I didn't particularly like either of the main characters, but was still incredible compelled to read their stories.

The audiobook version of this was fantastic - I absolutely love both of the narrators, and I think having two different people voice the two perspectives of the book really added a lot to the listening experience. I would highly recommend listening to The Golden Couple!

I really enjoy these two authors together. They are a dynamic duo when it comes to domestic disputes and thrillers.
This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time and the twist just kept coming. I like how there were plot twists that I did not see coming. This should be on your mystery thriller list for the year!

This audiobook was perfect. It has all the makings of a good thriller, complicated and unreliable narrators and twists and turns you dont see coming!

This caught my attention from the very first chapter and held it throughout until you got to the bottom of everyone’s dirty little secrets. All the characters were developed with plenty of layers to each of their stories, providing a distraction from predicting what’s really going on. I loved being on a suspenseful, thrill ride and getting off at a well executed ending.

The Golden Couple was VERY suspenseful. I don't understand all the reviews from the people who "figured it out," because I had no clue and was consequently miserable.

The story is about Marissa and Matthew, a married couple in crisis, who go to an unconventional and self-assured therapist, Avery, for help with their marriage. The story is told from Marissa and Avery's points of view, and the audio alters narrators for each voice although it feels like it's mostly Marissa. Avery's unorthodox methods require she become entrenched in their lives, exposing everything to get a truthful resolution. Her methods sometimes seem more harmful than helpful, and frequently seem to be unnecessarily invasive and callous indulgences of Avery's voyeuristic side, but Marissa perseveres. The character development was good, the story fast=paced, and the suspense hair-pulling.

The audio narration was fantastic, but Marin Ireland is so solid and always a guaranteed pleasure to listen to.

A riveting domestic suspense thriller featuring a couple dealing with infidelity and the infamous therapist who claims to be able to solve couples' problems in ten sessions. Told in multiple POVs, this story kept me on the edge of my seat. I found it a little slow in the middle but the climax was utterly thrilling. Great on audio narrated by two powerhouses: Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland. Recommended for fans of psychological thrillers featuring married couples. Much thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for my advance review copies!

Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem like the golden couple until Marissa cheats. Marissa wants to repair her marriage because she loves her husband and for the sake of their 8-year-old son. Marissa takes a chance on Avery Chambers, a maverick therapist, who lost her license due to controversial methods. Avery claims she can fix their marriage in 10 sessions. But Marissa keeps secrets hidden from Matthew and this will endanger their healing. This is a fast-paced psychological thriller with alternate POV's between Avery and Marissa. I enjoyed listening to the audio's narrators. The story delves into Avery's backstory and previous clients. The twists made it hard to figure things out and the ending was a complete surprise. I read and enjoyed three other of the authors books. I'm looking forward to reading their next one. I would like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an ebook for an honest opinion.

This book tells the story of a beautiful, wealthy married couple who seemed to "have it all" until the wife's infidelity opens a rift in the marriage. They seek the assistance of a therapist to get through this bump in the road, but after the counseling sessions start, their path only seems to get bumpier and bumpier.
This was an enjoyable "domestic thriller." It was not too dark or heavy, and the pacing was good. I liked the main character, who was part therapist, part private eye. I honestly could picture her as the basis of a series. I listened to the audio book, and the narrator's voice was pleasant.

I devoured this book, and all the twist and turns.
Marisa the wife who seems to have it all, has an affair and then finds a therapist who has lost her her license. What could go wrong? Oh and the therapist has a therapist has a pharma company going after her for being a whistle blower.
So many twist and turns kept me guessing who was telling the truth.
The author duo Greer Hendricks and Sara Pekkanen have done it again. The icing on the cake, it was narrated by two of my favorites.

First up: the actual book. Let me start off by saying that I love these authors, loved their previous novel, and was so excited to get my hands on their latest endeavor! Maybe I hyped it up too much because this one just didn’t work for me. There were several simultaneous plot lines: a decades old murder of a best friend, a pharmaceutical company seeking revenge against a whistleblower, marital infidelity, and a potential stalker. Although the authors attempted to seamlessly weave these multiple scenarios together, to me the result felt muddled and forced. There were too many paths to follow that I ended up not really caring too much about any of them, inherently relieving me of feeling any suspense, something I desperately want to feel when reading a thriller. Nothing was overly gory or trigger-worthy so it may be a good choice for readers who like their thrillers without a side of disturbance. I appreciated the fast pace and excitement of the ending even if I thought it wrapped up a little too neatly.

Next up: the narration. This was my first time listening to an audiobook with two narrators and I love the concept, especially when the book is divided into two POVs. I appreciated how the narrators had completely different voices; one conventional, breathy and overly articulate (Marissa) and another slightly edgier and street wise (Avery), perfectly suited for the characters. The problem for me, though, was that since the POVs are third person and not first, listeners hear characters speak through these two very distinct voices and, frankly, it was jarring. Matthew sounded completely different from each narrator’s voice (in one he was a dead ringer for a frat boy) as did Avery and Marissa. I wish, somehow, that the narrators could have represented one character so that there was a continuity in that character’s voice, but with the third person POV that would have been extremely laborious. Perhaps for some readers it will add to the excitement of the listen but for me it created feelings of detachment. Both narrators have good pacing and articulation but I think the range for the male characters was lacking (the older homeless guy sounded exactly like the young businessmen, for example). The novel lends itself well to an audiobook and kept my attention.

While this novel and narration didn’t completely come together for me, I think it would be enjoyed by readers looking for an interesting yet tame thriller. The multiple storylines provide lots of opportunities for guessing and red herrings to throw readers off, elements that mystery fans will certainly enjoy.

Many thanks for NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advance audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
