Though they've been on my list for a long time, this was my first Hendricks/Pekkanen read; it was engaging and enjoyable, and I expect I'll be working through the back catalogue soon.

What works best about this novel is that EVERY character is suspect. They all seem suspicious on the surface for different reasons, but they are also all hiding secrets, and these secrets are HUGE in some cases. To me, a cornerstone of an enjoyable thriller is open and changing possibilities, and though they are relatively simple, readers get quite a few different options to consider as the novel progresses.

This definitely reads as more of a popular thriller than a cerebral one, but I discovered while listening that I was very much in the mood for that change of pace. The audiobook narrator - though I contest their pronunciation of "penne" - adds a lot to the experience overall, so I recommend picking up this version if possible.

I'm really glad I don't know these characters but also that I got a glimpse into their unusual circumstances. These authors are now on my radar.

These authors have become a definite go-to for fun, well-written domestic thrillers.

I had a great time reading The Golden Couple. There were plenty of twists and turns and I thought there was enough character development for the two main protagonists. I mean, some connections stretched my ability to suspend disbelief but it was still fun.

Now I wait for the next one!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for hooking me up with both the ebook and the audiobook. I used both depending on how much eyeball time I had. The audio was well done so if you like them, you should be fine with the narrators.

I love a book that surprises me! I try to figure out where the book is going throughout the entire read and usually I feel that I can guess the ending. This book is about an unconventional therapist and a couple who seems to have it all, but the twists and turns throughout the book will keep you guessing! I also liked the fast paced nature of this book. I look forward to reading more from these two authors.

I loved this book! I am a sucker for domestic thrillers but paired with a couple going through therapy the drama, was irresistible. I loved everything about this book especially the shocker of a twist I didn't see coming AT ALL!

I luckily got my hands on an audiobook copy of this and I think that greatly helped the experience. The only problem I had with the audio is at times Avery and Marissa's voices weren't distinguishable for me. There were times when I was confused about who was speaking.

I enjoyed every twist and turn and with all the red herrings thrown my way I expected a very different outcome but loved the one, I got even more! I enjoyed the narrative and being inside Avery's head more than Marissa because she was just more direct and to the point. I find her therapy techniques fascinating and dare I say something I would personally sign up for.

This book was my first Henricks & Pekklanen duo book but I am excited to read more. I really enjoyed reading this and the ending is really the thing that put me at that 5-star push. The majority of the book felt 4 stars but I cannot get over that ending!

Thank you Netgalley and Macmillan audio for this ebook in exchange for an honest review!

The Golden Couple refers to Marissa and Matthew, who on the surface seem to have it all. Good looks, promising careers and a beautiful little boy to love. Their façade begins to crack when they come to see Avery, a cutting edge therapist, who guarantees she can fix your problems in exactly 10 sessions. Her unorthodox approach, while effective, it the reason she has recently lost her state license. She is also dealing with problems of her own that keep interfering with her day to day life.

Overall, this book was easy to get into and absolutely riveting, at parts. The layers of secrets that each person is keeping is incredible, but believable. Like Avery, we just want to whittle down the lies that Marissa and Matthew are telling themselves, and each other, to get at the root of the truth. When Avery does find out the truth, it is just as explosive as you would expect! This is my first book by this writing duo, but it will not be my last!

Thank you to the authors, publisher and Net Galley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I truly enjoyed this audio book. The narrator was amazing and I was fascinated by the concept of a therapist going beyond the rules/regulations and intervening in people's lives to get them to a better state. It was actually a very neat idea and something I think people would pay for.

There were really two mysterious story lines going on in THE GOLDEN COUPLE.

Avery Chambers is the psychiatrist who helps people in 10 sessions using her unconventional methods.
She has a situation with a big pharmaceutical company who is stalking her because she knows one of their drugs causes harmful side effects for some people. They stalk her and harass her throughout the story.

Then there is the Golden Couple--Marissa and Matthew Bishop. They go to Avery to help save their marriage after Marissa has an affair. But this seemingly perfect couple has a lot more going than what meets the eye.

There are lots of secrets and fun plot events that keep the momentum of the story going. I really enjoyed it and found it to be an original thriller when there are so many out there.

Is The Golden Couple really as perfect as they look? These two authors always write a great thriller. I flew through this audiobook and I thought the narrators were awesome. I connected to the characters and liked traveling down this twisty road with them.

The story begins with Avery, a therapist with with her own unique methods of helping people. Then enter Marissa and Mathew Bishop. Marissa has had an affair and enlists Avery’s help to save her marriage. They have 10 sessions in which to do so. As the sessions progress, more players enter the story and make you wonder if any of the characters are telling the truth.

This novel is told in two voices with alternating chapters for Avery and Marissa. Each woman has her own story, yet their stories become woven together in unique ways.

As expected, there are red herrings and some unexpected twists. I thought the writing was fantastic! I was hooked from the beginning and didn’t want to stop listening.

The narrator for the book was easy to listen to. She used distinct voices for each character which made the story easier to follow. I highly recommend this audio book!

A solid plot…..check
Questionable characters……check, check and a few more checks
Twists and turns…..YES!

Synopsis:
Avery Chambers is a therapist who recently lost her license. This does not stop people from seeking her help. She has a fantastic success rate and only takes on clients she know she can help in 10 sessions.

Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem like the golden couple on the surface but with Marissa’s infidelity and through the help of Avery, layers of secrets are revealed.

Marissa’s one time cheating event is nothing compared to what else has to be uncovered. Will this be a case that Avery is not able to fix?

Thoughts:
-There was so much going on in this novel that everyone seemed suspicious at one point.

The writing duo of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have written some of my favorite thrillers of recent years and with their upcoming novel, The Golden Couple they have delivered another winner. I listened to this one on audio and it was fantastic.

Therapist, Avery Chambers is one of the best in the business even if her methods are a bit controversial and have made her a few enemies. When a new couple seeks her out for marriage counseling it seems to be just another day at the office but there is a lot more going on than meets the eye.

This is a thriller that moves at a swift pace and keeps you guessing all along the way. Told from multiple points of view and with multiple storylines playing out it is impossible to know the truth. Is any narrator in this suspense laden novel reliable? This is a thriller with many layers that all eventually connect but you have to wait until the very end to get all the answers. This is a thriller that actually thrills and the ending is both a surprise and makes perfect sense. Greer and Pekkanen are at the top of their game with this perfectly woven tale of psychological suspense.

Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan audio for this audio arc in exchange for an honest and fair review.

This book is a solid 4 stars. I enjoyed it as much as Hendricks & Pekkanen's first two works: "An Anonymous Girl" and "The Wife Between Us." The authors did a great job weaving the characters' storylines together while not seeming forced and gave away just enough information for the reader to figure out the twists if s/he is paying attention. I always enjoy when the ending is wrapped up in a bow.

The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen was good overall. The first half was slow paced, a little boring. The second half was just medium-paced with a bit of thrill and mystery mixed in which kept me going. Both narrators Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland had distinct voices for the two main characters and they were both excellent.

Thank you Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced copy. #Netgalley

I'm having some really bad luck with books recently. Having enjoyed books by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen in the past, I kind of had some high expectations for The Golden Couple. I definitely expected a NO FREAKING WAY twist in this domestic thriller, but the one twist was predictable and not very inventive.

I also had trouble figuring out who to like, who to cheer for -- the wife, the husband, the "consultant" --and in the end, I realize it jumped around enough I shouldn't have worried, because none of them were saints. It got pretty complicated tying up all the loose ends toward the finish line, and I can't say I liked that. I wanted the tasty English trifle, but instead got Rachel's odd half trifle-half shepherd's pie mix. It was too much, and in some ways, not enough.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of The Golden Couple audiobook in exchange for an honest review. Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have struck gold again! This is a classic psychological thriller, with twists and turns and lots of opportunities for second-guessing.. Every character exhibits odd behavior and seems to be hiding something. But, they couldn't ALL be something other than what they seem, could they? Matthew and Marissa, the wealthy and glittering "golden" couple are having marriage problems, and their consultant Avery (no longer legally a therapist) seeks to get them back on track...but she has her own problems. And while she is a much more interesting character than her clients, the zigs and zags of the plot (which unfolds in chapters alternatively told by Avery and Marissa) will keep you wondering and thoroughly entertained. Ultimately, this is a story that asks you to consider just how well you know the people in your life.

I’ve been a fan of this dynamic writing duo since their first masterpiece, The Wife Between Us. Hendricks and Pekkanen never let me down, and always manage to produce a solid thriller. I really enjoyed this domestic suspense centered around an unlicensed therapist, Avery, and her two clients, Marissa and Matthew, aka the golden couple. Avery’s methods are a touch unconventional, and perhaps a bit controversial, but she promises to fix the couple’s marriage issues in just ten sessions. But my gosh, who is to blame? The sketchiness from both sides was endless, and it made my head spin. Like always, my predictions were thrown out the window. Full of twists, turns, drama, and an unlikable character or two, the authors have mastered the art of domestic suspense once again. Grab a copy of The Golden Couple on March 8th!

I listened to this book a few months ago. A very twisty book that had me guessing until the end. The narrator was quite engaging.

I wasn't surprised at all that I really liked this one. Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are a great combination of writers and I hope they continue to write together. The book was well-conceived and one that I'll be thinking about for a while.

4.5 stars!
The writing and narration were both excellent! I was drawn in immediately to the rogue therapist, the couple with marriage problems, and all the secrets that wove around them. There were plenty of surprises and twists as the book progressed, but not too many red herrings taking us down unnecessary paths. This book held my interest from start to finish. Kudos all around!

A review without a synopsis of the book…

I have read all of their books so far, and while I loved them all, this one is my first 5-star! I loved this book!

I loved Avery…!! I loved the bizarre, mysterious, borderline creepy Polly… In fact I actually loved all of the characters, which is what made it such a compelling book for me because I knew that at least one, if not more, of them was going to be the bad seed.

I was engaged throughout the entire book… and loved the unorthodox style of therapy… er, I mean consulting!
