Power thriller writing duo Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have done it again with another juicy, twisty, original thriller. There are sketchy suspects, twists, and red herrings aplenty in this story, which features intriguing characters and a plot that is creepy from the beginning. It’s best to know as little about this book as possible going in, and just let the writers guide you through the hairpin twists and turns.

I liked the narration of the audiobook but might have preferred just reading this one instead of listening, because all the clues, twists and mysterious characters take a little mental organizing to keep straight. When the ending came, I wasn’t super shocked, but found it very well-executed, as always with this dynamic duo.

This twisty outing was an entertaining and original take on the “who is cheating with who and how will they be punished?” domestic thriller. The addition of Avery the bizarre marriage “consultant” brings some extra fun to the thrill ride.

I’m fully committed to reading everything by this duo and am happy I had the chance to listen to this one. 4 stars for fun and originality.

Marissa and Matthew live the idealic life and are seen as The Golden Couple. A secret that Marissa is keeping seems to be tearing their relationship apart. Marissa seeks out the help of Avery whose unconventional techniques may help them or hurt them. when Marissa reveals her secret it starts to untangle an even bigger web of lies and deceit.

This was my favorite read from this duo. However, I feel as though if you are an avid thriller reader this may be forgettable. I really enjoyed the book as I was experiencing it but even a day later I had trouble remembering certain aspects of the book. I did really enjoy the ending of this book and it was the most memorable part for me. The details to get there are forgettable. I would give it 3.5 if I could!

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I wasn't sure what was going on for the majority of the story, and I love when that happens. I tend to be completely shocked by the big reveals. This time, I did figure out the major twist early on but there were still pieces I did not see coming, and felt that overall it was done very well. I was eager to keep going and flew through this! These two always seem to be very good at creating multiple twists for their endings that aren't always obvious and have layers to their stories, which I enjoy a lot! This almost felt like it could be the first in a series and honestly, I'd love that!

I enjoyed the narrators for the most part. I thought the narrator for Avery was a bit slow with the delivery but it didn't necessarily negate the experience. I'm glad there were two different voices to read the parts, they did a great job of making the characters stand apart.

Avery is a therapist, or at least she was before she lost her license due to some controversial methods. She is known for her 10 session method where she helps her clients overcome their biggest setbacks. She exclusive, but she's effective. Marissa brings her husband Matthew to see Avery after she makes a slip in their marriage. She is determined to make her marriage to Matthew work and hopes that he is willing to put things behind them and move forward. Avery takes them on but things don't seem to be as they once were. The golden couple seems to be hiding something and someone seems to be watching Avery... what is really going on?

This was my first Hendricks/Pekkanen book and now I'm a fan. It was a suspenseful thriller that held my attention throughout the entire book. I enjoyed the characters, plot and subplots, and the twists throughout. The book was never scary but I continued to question who was the true antagonist.

This book had me loving it at parts and then bored at parts. Overall, it was good but there were parts, for me, that were struggling to get through.

The Golden Couple was such a great listen!! I was wrapped up in this thrillers ending all the way to the end. It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time!

I really enjoyed this audiobook! It kept my interest and I didn't want to stop listening. The twists were pretty good, not wow, but good for how the story was heading. Marissa sort of annoyed me as far as characters go, but I see why the authors would have her be that way. The last chapter seemed a little drawn out to me but it didn't make me rate this book any less. I enjoyed both narrators and would listen to more books that they narrate. I will recommend this book to all my friends!

Great concept for a thriller centred around family dynamic and couples therapy. It had great interconnecting characters and I really enjoyed having all the puzzle pieces slot into place, I have read most of Hendricks and Pekkanen books and I think they make a great n writing team in this genre.

This book totally surprised me, in the best way possible! It's a domestic thriller, filled with a cast of unique, complex (some insufferable) characters. The plot twists were well done, and I didn't suspect a thing until the end. Also, at the end, all the kids supporting Bennett?? 😭😭💛

This story had so much going on with both POVs from the two main female characters.

Avery, the shunned therapist was branching out after losing her license in an unconventional way and also had to constantly watch her back due to going up against a major corporation.

Marissa was unfaithful in her marriage and sought out Avery’s help to try to mend the rift in her crumbling relationship. She was keeping secrets that were impacting her daily life but she didn’t end up being the one with the biggest betrayal of all.

I really liked both main heroines for vastly different reasons. They were both smart, capable and strong women but polar opposites.The side characters in this story kept multiplying and adding so much drama, twists and turns to the storyline. The Golden Couple had so many layers of chaos and deceit. I kept trying to formulate a theory and came up empty as the story progressed.

I was enthralled with this book until the very end. But the big reveal left me underwhelmed and more confused than anything. That’s why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I really enjoyed the suspense and anticipation but was let down by the ending that still doesn’t make sense to me.

I liked how the narrators really embodies the characters. I’m glad the audiobook was done with two narrators for of the female main characters! It made a huge difference!

I listened to the audiobook version of this book, and really enjoyed the narrator. I was thrilled to have received this advanced copy and completely devoured it. There is lots of suspense, characters are flawed and narrators are completely unreliable making this one incredible psychological thriller. This will be a huge 2022 hit!

Avery Chambers is a therapist who has recently lost her license, but has a signature 10 step method to fix whatever problem her clients have. Marissa Bishop has been unfaithful to her husband, and is looking to do whatever it takes to fix her marriage. After their first meeting Avery decides to take on Marissa and her husband Mathew as clients, and the tangled web between therapist and couple really unravels from there as the story goes on. Major players include Marissa's assistant at her boutique, a friend from the town where the couple grew up, Mathew's ex-girlfriend and Mathews estranged father. While some of the plot lines were a little far fetched, this thriller flew by and was a fun read. As always, Hendricks and Pekkanen write a very well done dually narrated novel.

She has some new clients, Mathew and Marissa Bishop. The Bishop’s are beautiful, wealthy, and successful. By all accounts, the golden couple. At their first session it’s revealed that there is more than meets the eye to Mathew, Marissa, and Avery.

These authors never disappoint with the twists and turns. I’m always left guessing till the last minute and even then I’m surprised. The book is very entertaining and the narration is great.

I couldn't get enough of this book. I binge-listened the whole thing in a weekend, and loved the story. Both narrators did a fantastic job! The story of former therapist Avery Chambers and her clients, Marissa and Matthew Bishop, was compelling and quite twisty (in a good way). They meet when Avery is hired to help them through an infidelity, but their paths intertwine in unexpected ways, making the whole thing a fantastic ride. Look for this one to be on the "Must-Have Beach Reads" lists.

This was my first book by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen and it did NOT disappoint!

The Bishops, the Golden couple, seek out Avery, a “consultant”, to overcome an obstacle in their marriage. Avery lost her therapist license due to unconventional methods, and as her new role as a consultant, she swears to solve her client’s problems in just 10 sessions. A friend recommended Avery to Marissa, and Marissa seeks her out to help her and Matthew work through Marissa’s admission of infidelity.

This story has alternate story lines between Marissa and Avery and they work well together. (I listened to The Golden Couple, and both narrators did an amazing job, making it easy to follow and distinguish). Both are equally intriguing, keeping the reader engaged the whole time. Just when you think you have one character figured out, something else happens that makes you question it.

This twisting and turning mystery kept me wanting more, needing to know what happened. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 - I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good domestic thriller/mystery!

I was very pleasantly surprised with this book. I haven’t read a good book in a long time, most of them lately have been disappointing, but this was a five star read. It offered up an enticing storyline, some suspense/mystery, and a twist that I didn’t see coming until right before it arrived.

The only thing I didn’t like about this is the part about her childhood friend. I think the story would’ve been just fine without all the extra.

I actually listened to the audio version and was happy with the narrators as well!

As a lover of twisty thrillers, I'd say this was middle of the road with it's plot and surprises. It had so much potential in terms of Avery's unconventional psych practice. I was dying for her to unleash strange and bizarre therapies on her Golden Couple patients. But that wasn't really the focus here. The two main characters, Avery and Miranda, we're both interesting and well developed. Not so much for the others. A second story arc that appeared halfway through and wrapped up in the very end just didn't work and wasn't necessary at all. Solid domestic thriller, although I was kind of bored. The narration was extremely well done. Three stars.

I never thought I would read a boring domestic thriller, but here it is: The Golden Couple. The pacing was slow, there was no tension, and the whole story just didn't go anywhere. The narrators were fine. I'm not sure who was who, but one was more engaging than the other. One of them sounded just as bored as I was.

The idea behind this book, that even perfect marriages have something to hide and nothing and no one are what they seem on the surface, is not innovative and the authors didn't have anything to add to the message. It wasn't the worst book I've read, but it was very disappointing.

4.5 stars! This book hooked me in right from the start. There was a lot going on at once but I thought it all tied together in the end. I was definitely surprised a few times throughout the book. I loved both the book and audiobook. I’d say this was a true page turner. Highly recommend!

I loved the multiple POVs in this domestic thriller! We get Marissa and Avery’s perspective which creates great tension and character depth. There are many red herrings littered throughout that kept me wondering how things would turn out. I loved Avery as I thought she was a fiery, intuitive and independent female protagonist. Some of her methods were definitely questionable and added flair to the plot line. I did find the big reveal a bit predictable, but overall this was a highly entertaining listen! The narrator was excellent.
