When Hendricks and Pekkanen write together, I know the book will be a winner. This one did not disappoint. On the surface, Marissa and Matthew seem to be the perfect golden couple. During their first appointment with unconventional therapist their picture-perfect facade starts to fall away.

The characters are intriguing and the plot sucks you in quickly. This book kept me on my toes. I love when books have side stories and this one does it really well.

The narration added to this story. There were two different narrators and it made the book so much more engaging and easy to follow.

Hendricks and Pekkanen and definitely the dynamic duo! Their newest book is a captivating mystery that keeps the reader second guessing from start to finish. Marissa and Matthew Bishop are the Golden Couple. Together with their son, Bennett, they live a seemingly perfect life. That is until Marissa makes a total error in judgement and can’t live with herself afterwards. With the help of an unlicensed therapist, Avery, she hopes her marriage and all that she holds dear can be saved. If anyone can help them Avery can with her 10 step session guarantee ... BUT ... is Marissa being completely truthful even now? With a side story of an unscrupulous Big Pharma company that Avery’s involved in and several red herrings along the way, this is a book you won’t want to put down for long! Nice touch on the audio using different voices for Marissa and Avery. They worked perfectly!

I was pleasantly surprised by this one and went into it knowing very little. The synopsis doesn’t do this book justice. It was much more of a suspenseful thriller than I prepared myself for and I couldn’t put it down.

Avery Chambers is an unconventional therapist, but the true storyline really lies with Marissa and Matthew Bishop. As their story goes between past and present, it unwinds in a way that I didn’t see coming. I finished the audiobook in a day and a half. I truly couldn’t stop.

Some parts of the story are a bit unbelievable, but I guess that’s just what “stories” do sometimes. I really liked Avery’s character and would love to see her story continued.

Thanks to St. Martin’s Press & Net Galley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes a bit of suspense!

Avery's tactics for her patients can be questionable, but in this case the patients make their own questionable choices. Marissa and Matthew's marriage needs work, but somehow Avery gets in a bit over her head this time. With a few different plot lines I wasn't sure who to trust and who was involved or wasn't. This is just the type of book I love because I can't predict it and I can just enjoy the ride! The two narrators were perfect for the characters in this audiobook! Highly recommend this book by the duo Hendricks and Pekkannen!

This story is not your typical mystery. There’s no dead body or traditional crime to solve. But that doesn’t make it any less suspenseful.
Having lost her license, Avery Chambers is no longer bound by the regulations imposed on other therapists. She has created a 10 session approach to “fixing” people. It’s unconventional, to say the least. She delves into her clients' lives in a big way. But people sign up to work with her, based on the success stories.
Marissa Bishop has seen the WaPo story about Avery. She signs up herself and her husband, Matthew, after she cheats.
The book has dual storylines. The first is Avery’s and includes her backstory, even detailing previous and other existing clients. The second is Marissa’s and we quickly learn she is still keeping secrets. I often find books with dual storylines are unequal and I’ll care for one more than the other. But not here. I was equally engaged with both women. While Avery initially came across as prickly, her adoption of Romeo put me in her corner.
The book moves at a fast pace and there’s lots going on. In fact, it made me realize how quiet and stable my life is. These two ladies have issues in spades.
I kept finding excuses to read/listen to one more chapter. It’s fun, convoluted entertainment. Not at all believable, but what the H***. I loved that the authors totally caught me off guard. I had no clue how Marissa’s story would play out. I had figured out Avery’s.
The audiobook employs different narrators for the two main characters and both did a fabulous job.
My thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio/St. Martin’s Press for an advance copy of this book.

First off, I quite enjoy a deliciously suspenseful book that doesn't involve violence against women. The Golden Couple was well-narrated and it was hard to put down. Interesting story and characters. I just decided I need to go back and listen to their earlier books!

This book was incredible!!!! I was intrigued from the very beginning. It had the perfect amount of love, suspense, mystery, and some plot twists! I like to think that I am very good at guessing what can happen in a book, but I was proved wrong in this one. I listened every chance I got and finished in just a couple of days, which is not the norm for me when it comes to audio books. I loved it!!

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have done it again! This audiobook sucked me in at chapter one, and I could not stop listening, meaning I did not get much sleep last night. There were a perfect amount of twists until the very end, and I would consider myself super picky in the category of domestic thriller. I really enjoyed this one and while I was able to figure out some of the secrets, there were plenty of surprises at the end! I really enjoy this narrator, and I would recommend this audiobook to my fellow domestic thriller fans!

From the co-authors of The Wife Between Us, You Are Not Alone and The Anonymous Girl comes their long-awaited 4th book together, The Golden Couple!

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have this beautiful way of crafting a story that makes the reader THINK they know what's going on only to prove to us time and time again that WE KNOW NOTHING!

This book was no exception. I'm usually pretty good at guessing what's going on in a thriller, but I can never keep up with these ladies!

This book has it all: a suspicious employee, a nosey therapist, a loyal husband, secret after secret, and an ending that will leave you SHOOK.

I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced listening copy of this audiobook Aw to @netgalley and The Golden Couple will be released on March 8, 2022 so add this to your lists!

Therapist Avery Chambers has unconventional methods, but her results are undeniable. With their picture perfect marriage on the rocks after an infidelity, Marissa and Mathew Bishop seek out couples therapy with Avery because of her ten-session guarantee. As their paths collide, their lives are changed in unexpected ways.

THE GOLDEN COUPLE is the latest domestic thriller from writing duo Sarah Pekkanen and Greer Hendricks. At times I found the characters to be a bit one-dimensional and difficult to connect with. I enjoyed the twists and ways the past slowly unfolded to reveal the character’s motivations. I’m not sure if this book will be one that sticks with me for years, but chances are, readers aren’t looking for literary staying power here. If you're in the mood for a wild story to toss in your spring break beach bag, this will do just fine.

I enjoyed the superb audiobook narration by Marin Ireland (one of my favorites!) and Karissa Vacker. The story is told from two POVs and I appreciated the distinct narrators for each. Reading THE GOLDEN COUPLE in print or audiobook will make for entertaining poolside reading.

I absolutely, whole heartedly, loved this book.

I enjoyed 'The Wife Between Us' and 'An Anonymous Girl' but to be honest hated 'You Are Not Alone', so I wasn't sure what to expect from this one. What I got was great!

As with the other books, the voice/voices the book is told from are very compelling. Even though you're getting a lot of detail about mundane stuff along with the big stuff it doesn't feel bogged down by that.

One of the things that I really liked about this book, which is probably a weird observation, is that it had the exact right amount of characters. I often find that books have either too few characters (in which case the book is usually pretty boring) or way too many characters (in which case there's often not enough about any of them to make them distinctive enough to keep track of). This one has 5 or 6 characters who are fleshed out and interesting and there's enough going on between all of them to keep it interesting.

I listen to 3-4 audiobooks a week while I walk my dogs and I absolutely loved that this one was so intriguing that I extended my walks, got up earlier, walked on my lunch breaks, ect, to keep listening!

Things I look for in a psychological thriller:
- Can't-put-this-book-down vibe
- Twists I didn't guess
- Tidy endings
- Investment in characters
While The Golden Couple isn't groundbreaking or the best thriller I've read by any means, it did tick all the aforementioned criteria and thus, I give this four outta five stars. I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish, and I also like this book more than the previous books penned by this author duo!
What I enjoyed most about The Golden Couple was the character Avery, a former therapist who lost her license because of her boundary-pushing methods. She is a strong female character that dubs as a faux-Sherlock, and I really enjoyed reading her methods of deducing the characters of those around her. From start to finish, I was rooting for her, and this connection is what kept the pages turning.
For a quick psychological thriller, this one entertains for sure! Thank you to Macmillan audio for this ALC - the audio narration is excellent!

This writing Duo has done it again!!! The Golden Couple will be a very big hit in 2022! Those who love their other books will be thrilled with this new addition to their collection of words.

I find that I have a neutral opinion of books written by these authors, yet I still find myself wanting to read more by them. I feel neutral because throughout the book I'm not really being shocked by constant twists and turns. I do have to say there were some very nice mysterious letters and actions thrown into this book to keep us reading, but I find that their books move more slowly and focus on slowly building up the grand reveal at the end.

I love the book at the end because of the unexpected ending, but I do see how some might easily get bored and DNF it. I like the book even with the slower core because it isn't just about the mystery. It has a lot to do with the lives of the characters and Avery working her magic to help bring this couple back together.

Each of their characters has unique voices and from the beginning of their books, I feel instantly connected with them. They have strong personalities. In this book Avery is portrayed as a no-nonsense, I will not baby you, therapist. I love the narrator because her voice and portrayal of Avery perfectly matched her personality. Then when the second narrator read Marissa's point of view you could hear her personality in the narrator's voice also. The audiobook helped to bring the characters to life, for me.

The Golden couple might not be rock solid as they seem but Avery is confident in her 10 session method and no matter how bad things become or how many curveballs are thrown into the situation throughout the book, her method remains intact. I also have to give Avery credit for her detective work.

So, yes I did like this book and would recommend it. I like the elements of the contemporary genre in it while also getting some nice doses of the thriller genre. After finishing the book some things click that didn't before and this is a sign of good writing. So not my favorite, most gripping thriller, but I still have a good neutral feeling toward this book.

What happens when cracks form in your marriage and you have an affair with a friend of your husband's? Marissa is about to find out.

Marissa and Matthew seem to be the perfect couple. But when they start growing apart Marissa ends up having an affair and dragging Matthew to counseling to come clean, but lies about with who. Matthew seems to forgive Marissa and work on making their marriage stronger. Meanwhile, their therapist, Avery, is having issues of her own with a stalker wanting information about an anonymous tips she made to the FDA.

This book was so full of twist and turns it will make you second guess everything you read. I could not put this down and was hook from page one.

This was fantastic! I did not see the ending coming. The dual perspectives of Avery and Marissa, and the fact that there are basically 2 mysteries in one made this fast-paced and intriguing. I will definitely read more by this pair.

The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

I really like this duo and was super excited to read this book!!

Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem to be the 'Golden Couple', until Marissa cheats! Marissa would like to repair this, will Mathew agree? A friend shares an article on Avery Chambers, a therapist, who lost her license due to controversial methods.

Everyone has secrets!

I enjoyed the book! Although the first half for me lacked a little, I was interested, but didn't completely grab me right away. At about 50% I was hooked! The last half had my attention completely! Twisty and filled with layers of lies!!

Thank you Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen, Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the audio to listen to this book in return for my honest review!

4.5 🌟
Avery is a widowed unlicensed therapist who has a unconventional 10 step process she uses with her clients. Each step pushes the individual to dig deep and reveal every last secret they’ve been hiding. Marissa requests Avery’s help discussing an issue with her husband Matthew. During the couples ten step process Marissa and Matthew experience unusual happenings around them. With all the twists and weird behavior of those surrounding the family, you don’t know who the mastermind is behind all the strange occurrences.

This audiobook baited me from the beginning with mysterious characters and unconventional therapy. It was just a hooker, line and sinker for me! Make “The Golden Couple” one of your March 2022 audiobooks! The narrators Karissa Vacker & Marin Ireland brought this triller novel to life!

I could not put this book down. I will easily say this is one of my favorites for 2021. What a ride! The plot was perfectly executed, the characters were flawed, but likable and interesting. I could see this adapted as a series or movie, and I hope it will be. I will definitely be recommending this one to all my reader friends and to my favorite BookTube channel creators. I can't express how much I enjoyed this story. Do yourself a favor and read it immediately!
