This book was a total surprise to me. The plot twists and turns had me thoroughly engrossed from page one. Not at all what I expected. The mind is a fantastic thing, how it can make a mess of someone's life. Mental illness is not a joke and I think that is what the author was trying to get at. A very suspenseful novel to be sure. Loved it!

The tragedies that the twins endured, no wonder their minds were messed up. Even though I had read the book's blurb beforehand, I knew that Beth was a twin to Alexa and that she had died. Alexa kept her alive in her imagination. Everything seemed perfect in Alexa's life, good job, living in NYC, something she always wanted to do, there was just something a bit off about the whole situation.

Enter Curt, a man too good to be true for Alexa, then Beth intervenes and no good can come of this.

This book was a page-turner! I loved it!

Some parts were predictable, but I loved the twist at the end. Great read.

Do You Follow? is the debut novel of J.C. Bidonde, and I found myself being gradually pulled into the intrigue generated by twin sisters Alexa and Beth.

Alexa lives with her widowed father but is feeling smothered by his attention. Accepting a marketing job in New York, she sets off in her own despite her father's reservations. Once in the city, her estranged sister Beth materializes, leading the sisters down a dark and twisty path that will have them negotiating a taut relationship, while at the same time trying to reconcile a troubled past.

While I initially had difficulty engaging with the characters and plotline, the narrative soon captured my interest with its many surprising turns. Looking forward to more from this author. 3.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and Greenleaf Book Group for an ARC.

Tried the audiobook first and DNFed it but I would like to revisit a physical copy in the future and try again as the story does sound really good

This was a quick read at 248 pages. I listened to the audio and thought the narrator did a good job and kept me entertained. I figured out the big twist before it was revealed so even though the storyline was good, nothing really surprised me. The twist at the end didn't really make a lot of sense to me.

Thank you @netgalley and @greenleafbookgr for the e-copy of this book!

irst off this book did not meet my expectations. It should have been a really good book, but unfortunately to me it was just meh. If someone reads quite a bit, then like me, they could see what was happening and predict it before it happened or read about it. There are a few surprises that I was totally shocked by, but overall I knew what was coming. This is a debut novel and BIdonde is just starting out. She did leave the end open, so the reader could imagine what happens to Alexa in the future or even continue the story. Even though I gave it 3⭐, I would like to know her future and what happens with what was found at the end of the book.

This was kind of weird. I didn’t hate it. It had some fun ideas in it and was interesting enough. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it but it was ok.

A little predictable throughout but the twisted ending really got me!

I wanted to yell and scream at this story because I felt like no one had enough respect for the MC and wouldn’t tell her what was going on.

This story is suspenseful, sad, and will make you want to pull your hair out.

I definitely recommend you read this story! Maybe you won’t yell at them as much as I did.

This book was fun and a fast-paced read. I really appreciated the twists and turns, because I could never tell what would happen next. It was fun to try and guess, though!

The beginning of the book was kind of slow but it definitely picked up over time. The ending was great and I definitely didn't see it coming. Throughout the book I had a lot of questions but the ending answered all of them.

I was bored to tears . . . at first. Then I kept reading. It was a little slow going, but it started getting interesting in a mediocre kind of way. If that makes any sense whatsoever.

Alexis has a desire to live alone, so when she gets an apartment in NYC and gets a good job -- she's finally got the independence she's always wanted. Then she gets a boyfriend. Living her dream. However, it's not always what it seems. Soon enough, she's found hovering over her boyfriend's dead body.

That's when things start getting really interesting! I did not see the whole thing with Beth, her sister, coming at all. I had small little suspicions about a couple things but they never came to fruition. Well, one thing was close but not really what I was thinking.

It wasn't the best story in the world. There were a lot of flaws, I'm not 100% certain how I feel about the portrayal of mental health, and definitely not in the court system. Overall, it was a decent story that I finished . . . so there's that.

I hate DNFing books, especially when I'm meant to review them. I decided to stick it out with this one, even though I had some issues with the writing. Do You Follow ended up being an okay read. I couldn't connect to the characters and I'm not sure if it was the writing or just a personal thing. It was also just a bit to long. With that said, it was a very tense read at times, which I always love. Don't write it off just because it wasn't my cup of tea, because it might still be yours.

This is the story of twin sisters with psychological problems due to the loss of their mother at a young age. . Alexa has overcome most of her issues with psychiatric help and an overprotective father. She is on her way to a new job in NYC and a new life. We get a little background on her issues, and her sister Beth. As Alexa feathers her new nest, who shows up but Beth - released from the psych hospital after 13 years - begging to stay with Alexa. How could Alexa refuse her poor estranged twin sister? Beth moves right in and makes herself at home.
The first day on the job, Alexa meets Curt - who was a chef at the psych facility where Alexa and Beth were living after their mother's death. Alexa seems to really like the challenges of her new job and she and Curt develop a romance, but Beth interferes with it in a subtle way, and Alexa is oblivious to the manipulation.
I won't say more because I don't want to give away the plot twist. Initially the story moved along quickly, with roughly drawn sketches of each character (including the psychiatrist). The build up was creative and intriguing, and it kept me guessing throughout the book.
My first objection to the story, was that Beth just popped into Alexa's new life after 13 yrs in a psych hospital. I worked in mental health for 16 yrs and I have never known a facility to release a patient to herself...or another former patient without the other person's consent.
Secondly, the diary was brought up several times, but hardly any information about it was revealed and nothing about what their mother had written. I would have liked that clue to be known.
Thanks to NetGalley and Greenleaf Books for a free advance readers copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I’m truly shocked by all of the four and five star reviews. While this was a super quick read, it was so poorly written with so many holes in the plot, I couldn’t even believe it was published. I would have liked it far more if the characters had been more developed and I felt like I got to know any of them. The twist was predictable and ridiculous.

Alexa lives a sheltered life with her widowed father, feeling stifled by his helicopter parenting. When she secures a marketing job and apartment in New York City—much to her father’s and therapist’s concern—Alexa has high hopes of finally sneaking her way into adulthood. But her newfound freedom is cut short when her estranged twin sister Beth, after a long stint in a psychiatric setting, unexpectedly shows up at the doorstep of her tiny apartment.

Alexa, too, has spent time at the Weinstein Center. But she's determined to lead a normal life now and soon begins to date a YouTuber client. According to Beth, something isn’t quite right with Curt, but Alexa shrugs her clingy sister’s warnings off. It’s Beth who’s crazy, after all . . . As the sister bond grows strained over Alexa’s relationship and career success, questions mount, and secrets unfold, revealing the wickedly dark shared history of the twin siblings. What exactly happened when the twins were only nine that set this vile trajectory in motion?

Things get more complicated, and one treacherous act threatens everything Alexa has been working toward. It will be on her—and Beth—to claw their way out of this situation.

I love psychological thrillers. Some of the book was predictable. However, there were plenty of surprises in the end.
Do You Follow? was well written with likable characters.
