Really enjoyed this latest installment of the Secrets of the Isles series! The characters that we met in the first book are back with new ones that will quickly become reader favorites. This time we turn our focus to the second "Beth" and see how she is tied to the secrets that have become legend in the Scillies. But if she is going to make any real headway in her quest to find "the treasure of Mucknell" she will have to accept help from family, friends and the seemingly arrogant and foppish Lord Sheridan. Beth still hasn't forgiven him for purchasing a family heirloom trinket box her mother gave her as a child. Will she hold tight to her grudge or will she let him close enough to aid her search before it's stolen by other determined seekers. Sheridan is a collector of many artifacts and given his family's wealth, he has no trouble purchasing an item that catches his eye. He's not sorry he bought the trinket box as it's been a nice addition to his collection, though he is sorry that Beth seems to hate him for it. She's the most beautiful woman he's ever seen but unless he earns her forgiveness, he will never stand a chance at convincing her of his devotion. There are more people seeking the treasure than just Beth, Sheridan and their friends and they are those who will stop at nothing to gain it. Who will win out, both in love and in treasure? Well, come read and find out!

This book was one of the most fun and funny books I've read in a little while. Sheridan is determined to make Beth fall in love with him but he's not the most eloquent in his speech. I loved the cadence of his speech, though and how he put things. Plus his random proposals he created in his mind kept me laughing a lot. Plus, when he slipped and spoke one out loud accidentally before he wanted it said, he had to try and backtrack through his friends teasing. Beth was a lovely character who had to learn that what is assumed about someone is not always the truth. Sometimes what we choose to see is entirely opposite and keeping us from a possible friendship. But I loved her determination to seek out the treasure for those who had a right to it. Though she didn't always plan out her actions, leading to a couple close shaves with death, she refused to let anyone cause her to cower. When she and Sheridan finally get together and work things out.....its really wonderful and ever so swoony. One of my favorite parts was when he found her story she wrote where she made him the villain. His reaction to the name she gave him and his subsequent alliterations he creates was hysterical. Of the secondary characters, I think I liked Ainsley and Senara the best. They added a good depth to the story and helped tie many things together that needed completion. Lord Telford is another good character that I'm hoping will get his own story. He's interesting and I love his obsession with sweets. I definitely highly recommend this story to those readers who like historical romance fiction with a good touch of suspense to keep them engaged from page one to the last word. I'm looking forward to adding a copy of this story to my shelves soon as it's one I think I would like to reread again.

Wow. I quite enjoyed the first book in this series, but this second book is absolutely stunning! Sheridan is absolutely hilarious! I love how he speaks his ridiculous thoughts which just confuses everyone. Beth was also delightful to get to know better. Understanding her and her motivations was wonderful! You should read this book because it hilarious! I'm not sure any of Roseanna's other books are quite this funny and she wrote is splendidly! It is also just a wonderful concept with pirate's treasure and archaeology mixed into one that is is truly just a wonderful read!

To Treasure an Heiress is the second book in Roseanna M. White’s Secrets of the Isles series. This is Beth and Sheridan’s story.

I absolutely loved this story! I admit, I was in a bit of a reading slump (thanks to my usual post-holiday malaise), when I began reading To Treasure an Heiress. However, by a few pages in, that slump had completely disappeared and I have Sheridan to thank for it.

Not only could I not stop reading, Sheridan kept making me laugh. I’m not usually one to show emotion when I read—the story stays internal for me—but every once in a while, a book will make me tear up, or on an even rarer occasion, make me full on laugh out loud. That was the case here. At one point, Sheridan was talking to himself, about Beth of course, and it struck me so that a laugh totally burst out and drew my husband’s attention. So I had to read the section to him, too.

While I recommend reading the first book, The Nature of a Lady, first, if you’re in need of a book with a pirate treasure hunt, adorable chemistry, and the perfect splash of humor, definitely grab yourself a copy of To Treasure an Heiress. I’m looking forward to book three, then I can’t wait to reread the whole series again, all together.

What a delight it was to return to the Isles of Scilly in To Treasure an Heiress, the second book in Roseanna M. White’s newest series, The Secrets of the Isles. White never fails to draw me quickly into her stories and keep me engaged and turning pages. I now have a new favorite hero—Lord Theodore Sheridan, who kept me laughing with his sense of humor, easy-going good nature, and charming ways. He’s the perfect foil for Beth Tremayne, the adventurous, courageous, family-loving heroine. I loved the way he kept trying to break through her defenses, and the way their relationship changed and grew. White is master at creating colorful, realistic, engaging characters and building fascinating stories around them.

“Sheridan had never had a rival. It would keep life interesting. Perhaps he should invest in one sometime, just for the experience.”
“If God meant me to live in the desert, He wouldn’t have made me an Englishman.”

With a perfect blend of history, intrigue, suspense, romance, and inspiration, this book was highly entertaining and left me with an intense desire to visit the Isles of Scilly. I’m looking forward to the next tale in the series. 4.5 stars

What a fun book - looking for a bit of fun escapism given it's winter and Covid, and this book completely hit the mark. Fun, clever and funny, and well written. Glad I took a risk and got this one!

This was such a good book by Roseanna M. White. I can’t wait to read the next book. I love how this book has some mystery and adventure. I loved how there were clues that needed solving. I also loved the romance between Sheridan and Beth. I love how Beth could not stand Sheridan but as she got to know him as he helped her investigate, she found out he was perfect for her. I loved the characters and I loved how they worked together to find the treasure and to keep it out of the bad guys hands. I can’t wait to find out what happens next and to continue to read about these characters.

I just enjoyed yet another delightful trip to the Isles of Scilly, thanks to Rosanna M. White’s latest series. In To Treasure an Heiress, readers get to enjoy this beautiful, historic region of England from Beth’s perspective and I must confess she is my favourite protagonist in this series so far. I say this, however, admitting I loved every character in this story. Do I then sound repetitious when I tell you this is very much a character driven story? I can’t help it. Everyone was so well thought out, unique, and developed very well. For those of you who need to connect with good characters in order to enjoy a novel, fear not, you will not be disappointed. No, you will be impressed. Roseanne’s creativity flows so well here and it is easy to see why she is a favourite author of mine. She even threw in a pirate prince! How can you resist that?! More importantly, the faith elements in this story shine bright with biblical truth, which I very much appreciated. I’m looking forward to the final edition to this series. 5/5 from me.

The humor in this book was awesome!! I was laughing out loud so often.
Sheridan is a wonderful character and I really mean character!!! He’s funny and kind without feeling fake or false. I grew to like Beth, and enjoyed all the new characters. I love how some of the minor characters won my heart. I hope to see them (Ainsley and Senara!) in future books. Although I could do without….well, you know if you’ve read it.
I like the part about shame and what its purpose is. I keep thinking over it and loved the wisdom and truth.
I will definitely reread this book an I marked several of the funnier pages to go back and read when I need a laugh!!

This book is the perfect addition and ending to the Secret of the Isles series. We had everything from the first book in this one that I loved, but with more added in to the mix.

We still got to see Oliver and Libby, but I have to admit: I think I loved Beth and Sheridan more 😍

They were sassy and witty and so cute. I loved the snark they would throw out at each other all the time, but I also loved seeing both of their romantic and sweet sides with each other as well.

Like the previous book, we got more of the drama with this one. The pirate treasure story continues in ways I didn’t expect.

As a person who loves mysteries and history, it was super fun to watch this story pan out in both books and to see how it ended. I loved putting the puzzle pieces together with the gang and I was happy to watch all the love and friendships grow along the way.

If you’re looking for a nice historical fiction read that has lots of romance and history in it, this is the one for you!

Pirates and treasures and adventures, oh, my! This is the second book in the series, The Secrets of the Isles, and I thoroughly enjoyed it and had a very hard time putting it down. I do recommend reading the books in order, though.
Taking place in 1906 on the islands of Scilly off the shores of England, the key characters in this novel are now Beth Tremayne and Lord Sheridan. She is obsessed with finding the pirate treasure and he loves archeology. But as they seek the earthly treasure, they also realize they need to seek God and heavenly treasure. Ainsley, the manservant of Sheridan, at one point preaches beautifully about the value of a pearl.
I know when I read a book by Roseanna White that I will always enjoy it. I highly recommend this one. It will make you want to go to the Scilly islands and explore. I received a copy of this book from the netgalley. I am freely writing a review - all thoughts and opinions are my own.

After reading the first book in the series I was looking forward to this one and it did not disappoint. We briefly met Beth in the previous book as she's knee deep in trying to unearth some pirate treasure. In this story Sheridan and Beth are at complete odds and the way the two of them banter is fantastic. Lots of witty dialogue and Sheridan is very funny and sometimes I caught myself inwardly laughing. The story flowed and most of the characters, there's a lot of secondary ones, are memorable in their own right. Overall, a treasure of a read!

If it weren’t for the fact that I trust White’s writing style by now, I doubt I would have picked this book up with a title like that. This is a continuation of a mystery/treasure hunt, and I loved getting to know this setting all over again! And the two main characters! One, in particular, had me frequently cracking up at some of the things that were said—he was…a bit oblivious at times. And it made for some rather delightful reading! :) The other…well, she was spunky, and just plain fun.

In some respects, I was a bit disappointed in this book. I felt like the romance was more of a main plot point, rather than a subplot, as I prefer (and that is totally my personal preference—nothing wrong on White’s end!). The romantic element was as strong as the mystery.

As far as the mystery went—I enjoyed that. There wasn’t as much physical danger in this book as in many of White’s other books, so that made for a lighter read, which was a nice break from the normal. I didn’t figure out the mystery until the end, but that’s pretty typical for me. The characters were well-formed, as I’ve come to expect, and I fell in love with Mamm-wynn all over again. I enjoyed the story, even though it wasn’t my favorite of White’s books. A delightful, light read, perfect if you love gentle romance and a mystery that isn’t a murder mystery.

I was given a review copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion of it.

To Treasure an Heiress is the most fun historical fiction story I’ve read in a long time! With a long-lost pirate treasure and the race to find it by titled characters on a tropical English island, you’d think this story would be nothing more than a fun beach read – but description couldn’t be more wrong.

Because it is definitely fun. I love the way that Beth and Sheridan play with words. I love Mamm-Wynn’s mysterious knowledge and the way that she cares for people. I love the way that the unique assortment of British titles and beachy islanders work together to solve the clues left behind by this long-lost pirate and friends.

But it’s also much more than that. There are really important life lessons that everyone should know inside – whether because they’re needing to learn them personally or simply because they’re important truths. Things like: God’s forgiveness and redemption is complete. Sin can’t permanently stain the sinner unless allowed to do so. God’s plans are loving, forward-looking, and for our good. Listen to those internal whispers – it might be the prompting of the Holy Spirit. God works in mysterious ways, ways beyond our comprehension. Choose your friends, family, and mates by what’s inside – not by the beautiful packaging. Truth and kindness are always right.

What really makes To Treasure an Heiress shine like all that piratical gold is the way that White packages these lessons. The characters learn their lessons from their experiences within the story, from conversations with each other, and from self-reflection. There are so many quoteable lines in the book – but it isn’t preachy. There’s never a time where one of these people are lecturing another on what they should do, but there are natural conversations that flow from the story. There are moments of self-reflection, of prayer, and I love the way that these convey the message while moving the story forward.

Because this story really moves. With men overboard, boat races, treasure hunts, archeological discoveries, fist fights and martial arts, you’ll never be bored – and that’s not accounting for the emotional drama and spiritual lessons that unfold rapidly throughout the pages.

So whether or not historical fiction is your thing, To Treasure an Heiress is definitely a top read of 2022 – and a favorite in this genre. Give it a try – you’re going to love it.

This was one of my most anticipated books of 2022 and it lived up to what I had imagined it to be.
The eloquent writing style of this author has me hooked on it. Her books are sumptuous, I love the descriptions and can vividly imagine myself there .
It was a delight to be reunited with characters in the previous book in the series and see the progression they made and also meet new characters that I hope to meet up with again in a future book.
The characters are relatable and I enjoyed reading the faith thread throughout the book.
I can't wait to see what's next from this author!

To Treasure an Heiress has all the elements of a good treasure hunt story: a pirate, hidden loot, bad guys, and a bunch of people after the same pot of gold. But it also had relatable characters who struggled to find their place in the world, made mistakes, and questioned their fate. There was also a beautiful, slightly comical love story, as well as one with a tragic ending.

I loved Sheridan. He was funny, approachable and kind. He was the perfect fit for Beth who needed someone to care for her while being content to give her the adventure her soul craved.

What I also liked about To Treasure an Heiress was the sense of community that was created among the characters in the Scillies. They all came from different backgrounds and income brackets yet they were able to find common ground and work amicably together.

Readers will be reminded that we have the great privilege of being used by God. We should therefore live our lives in a way that gives glory to Him and not ourselves.

To Treasure an Heiress is the second book in The Secrets of the Isles Book series. While there are elements and story lines that carry over from the first book, To Treasure an Heiress may be read as a stand-alone.

The Secrets of the Isles series has a new book, and if you loved "The Nature of a Lady" I think you will love "To Treasure an Heiress" as much or more! This book continues where the first book left off with a delightful cast of family/friends searching out the secrets the Isles have hidden for centuries. Technically it could be read as a stand alone, but I think readers would enjoy it much more if they read the first book before the second in this series. The first book introduces Beth and Lord "Sheridoom" who are the main characters in To Treasure an Heiress. Lord "Sheridoom", branded a theif, quickly became a favorite of mine. I loved his quirky humor! This island adventure is full of searching for pirate treasure, dangerous exploits, dastardly villains, romance and discovering the real treasure that we have in family and friends. Themes of forgiveness and restoration abound throughout the story. I loved the comparison to our failures being mud, our souls being a pearl and the blood of Jesus the water. "A pearl cannot be stained. No matter how many centuries it sits in the mud, wash it in a bit a water and it's gleaming again." Such an awesome reminder that I am a gleaming pearl to Jesus, worth the time to pick away the mud and treasured for always.

Thank you Bethany House and Net Galley for the free DRC of this book. The opinions expressed here are my own.

Title: To Treasure an Heiress
Author: Roseanna M White

Ch: 30

Pg: 384

Series: Secrets of the Isles

Genre: Christian Historical Fiction, Christian Historical romance

Rating: 4.5 stars

Publisher: Bethany House

I have to say that To Treasure an Heiress is my favorite book of the Secrets of the Isle series. And I think it’s the whole searching for pirate treasure and finding out more to the pirate story. Plus, Beth become a favorite of mine in the first book and Sheridan quickly grew on me. And just like the first book I loved Beth’s grandmas’ words of wisdom.

But someone else kind of stole the hero title away from Sheridan at least from my point of view. And that was Ainsley lord Sheridan valet. I loved that Ainsley wasn’t afraid to live out his faith. He never turned away from the chance to share the love of Jesus. Ainsley was always willing to do the right thing no matter the cost. But importantly he didn’t treat Senara differently when he learned the truth. He just showed her who she was in Christ, and he wanted her to find Christ even if didn’t end the way he wanted it to. Ainsley quote l, “But we’re not fabric, Senara. We are pearls.” Is the quote that stands out to me the most.

I love a book in which you love the main characters but it’s the secondary characters that steal your heart. And he becomes the hero of the book to you.

I look forward to the next book in series to see how everything wraps up. And like always I love her Roseann threads faith throughout the story.

It is difficult to select a favorite characteristic of To Treasure an Heiress. It might be how the author gives voice to her characters and develops the plot by growing the characters, or it might be the lure of a story that includes a hunt for pirate treasure. The way White includes conflict, but eases the tension with light-hearted comedy is another endearing trait, as is the way she weaves into the story the theme of the importance of family, the one you are born into as well as the ones you are invited into. The traits that make this book great, were also true for the first book in White's The Secrets of the Isles series, The Nature of a Lady. Reading that first book prior to this second book in the series isn't necessary, but will increase the pleasure of reading To Treasure an Heiress.

I highly recommend this delightful story and am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of To Treasure an Heiress from Bethany House via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

I truly enjoyed the banter and sparks between Beth and Sheridan. This author made it so entertaining with the way those two clashed and parried. Throw in hidden secret pirate treasure and this book was a winner for me! All the characters make up such a heart warming story because they climb into your heart and make you feel like family. They all make the story a page turner. The island descriptions are amazing and suck you into their lives. Laughter, tears and some tense suspense moments abound in this! I highly recommend this one (after you read the first in the series, of course!).

I definitely enjoyed this book A LOT! It was a lot more humorous and comedic than a lot of Roseanna M White's other books that I have read. Sheridan's constant thoughts of how he should propose to Beth ("Your grandmother adores me. We should get married" etc.) were HILARIOUS and sooo cute! I loved the Jane Austen references sprinkled throughout and every character was so endearing to me. I enjoyed reading about the adventure, treasure, and investigative plot that was threaded throughout the story and as always, with a Roseanna M White book, there was a subplot with a servant, Senara. I actually really liked this character and her interactions with Mamm-wynn, the Tremaynes' grandmother, and all the bits of wisdom sprinkled throughout the story. Something that did bother me was Sheridan's dismissal of Christianity/the church as "boring" but it was a minor enough part of the story that I didn't find it totally detracted from the story.

Also, I loved how the myth/story of Prince Rupert and Briallen was woven through the story and ran parallel to Beth and Sheridan's love story.
